Criminally underappreciated games thread
Thomas Phillips
Owen Torres
Aaron Mitchell
It was pretty good
Tyler Evans
why did GOG remove it?
Nolan Hill
Probably because it's included in Dark Athena
Carson Taylor
Which was also removed
Isaac Sullivan
A remake of condemned surely wouldn't go amiss. Great game. Definitely needed more animations for the bad guys though. Got very predictable rather quickly.
Charles Davis
Dark Athena was removed too? Any reason why?
Ian Jones
I have no idea why, fortunately i have acquired a copy of it
Bentley Flores
i've been looking for a copy of this game for quite some time now. Never understand why they removed it from online stores..
Hunter Jenkins
Where can I find the 2004 version of this game? The remaster sucks balls
Juan Evans
Good stuff. I've still yet to complete dark Athena. But It's certainly not as interesting as EFBB.
Andrew Rodriguez
Being able to leave the controls of your space ship, run around it in it first person, while it maintains course and ploughs into an asteroid in real time. Simply epic. Technology beyond the times. I dont think minds were ready back then.
Kevin Hernandez
just pirate it you dingus
Aiden Edwards
Great game but I get motion sickness every time these days. Somehow CRT made it work.
>that first time you play the warehouse level and the mannequins starts to move
Ryder Rodriguez
It's selling for peanuts on eBay? Its been years since I've played the original so my frame of reference is off. Did they really butcher the remaster? I remember it running and looking perfectly fine.
Nathan Hernandez
The remaster doesn't suck, it's just got a few weird downgrades seemingly for no reason, not balanced out by its upgrades.
Jaxson Gray
Xbox had some seriously underrated exclusives.
Ryder Taylor
John Garcia
>first half of the game is a simulation
>2nd half you're out of the simulation and have no ui for health, ammo, etc.
Eli Evans
Condemned did a good job trying to get the player used to the idea that there are a bunch of crazy junkies twitching around wasted on whatever it is that they're huffing. It makes you comfortable to think that they're just out of their minds because of substance abuse. Their cursing is slurred and their movements are erratic. Then it throws you into the abandoned shopping center and the wax-faces in suits just walk in a calm but determined manner right towards you without saying a word and it manages to be much scarier than some diseased subway tunnel tweakers.
Leo Foster
Jonathan King
>couldn’t get this to run on my shit laptop 5 years ago
>even shittier laptop now
Somehow pic related runs fine though. And speaking of Fort Zombie, goddamn what a game, it’s so fucking clunky but i just couldn’t put it down. it provided such a unique combination of setting and gameplay mechanics that I still haven’t found in other games to this today. I geniunely thought Fortnite would be it’s successor if BR hadn’t swooped in.
Chase Martin
Does anyone remember the original xbox game were you were fighting invading robots and you had an exo suit that was also a motercycle? I for the life of me can't find the name. I thought that was a pretty fun and unique game.
Owen Ross
its a gog game, you can pirate the exact files I paid for
Shame what became of Starbreeze and Tigon, I always felt butcher bay was one of the most underrated games of the FPS genre
James Lewis
Tron2.0
I think it was the last good game by monolith
Lincoln Parker
Robotech Invasion?
Nathaniel Stewart
oh fuck off, FEAR is great
Grayson Turner
>fromsoft made weeb souls instead of otogi 3
Joseph Taylor
Oh that was later? Then sorry, last before fear
David Thompson
Mason Ward
DMC+GOW+Onimusha
Dominic Evans
sad but true
Jackson Morgan
This and its sequel, is something that all other diabloshit could never replace.
Hunter Martin
>Worst physic in any game ever
>Terrible platforming
>Plot is so terrible it makes the other 2 games look like masterpieces
>All the worlds are boring and empty as fuck
I liked the building like everyone else but it deserve all the shit it gets
Charles Morales
Samuel Richardson
It wasn't a platformer....
Juan Perry
Star Fox is for faggots, Rogue Squadron was always leagues better
Grayson Morales
This gem blew my 10 year old mind. Being able to manipulate the land with magic, raising it up from the sea in order to bridge gaps, or sending soldiers to their death was an amazing gameplay element. Summoning volcanoes and ripping buildings to shreds with tornadoes was super cool too.
I'm with you my man, the multiplayer especially was underrated. It's a shame the game was made before internet really took off.
Nicholas Gutierrez
Xavier Baker
A vague and never-explained licensing issue? What license was it and who ordered the game's removal?
Brody Brown
Thanks, will see into that
Jack Thomas
Game is far too long for its own good but it was great until you got burned out.
Also Sacred 2 had the best side quest
youtube.com
Ayden Wood
Nolan Wood
Nolan Gomez
Yes ty, forgot it also had a ps2 release.
Jackson Rogers
Loved this game but never did beat it. Can't find anything with a similar aesthetic.
Henry Lopez
>criminally underappreaciated games thread
>full of beloved classics
kys
Levi Gomez
Isaiah Perry
The remaster downgraded the soundtrack and made everything grey, murky and added an abundance of post processing and bloom effects, which wasypical for 2007-2009 era.
It literally looks like The Darkness 1.
The 2004 version was at least colorful and somewhat pleasant to look at.
Elijah Perez
That Riddick game wasn't underappreciated - it was highly regarded.
Angel Gonzalez
I played the demo of this a lot but I haven't got around to buying this yet
Austin Cruz
I had a lot of fun with this
Wyatt Bell
Leo Wilson
European games is never appreciated enough on this board, because Americans are racist toward white people.
Luke Williams
it wasent bad, just unpolished and the story could have been much better
Samuel Hernandez
This, there's maybe two games in here that aren't well known and generally liked/loved
James Brown
Neat arcadey wrestling game
Evan Morgan
>People post actual underappreciated games
>Gets ignored forever
I'm not surprised these threads always end up like that
William Morgan
.hack series.
Michael Peterson
well fuck here ya go then geez
Jeremiah Diaz
Too bad it's not backwards compatible with 360. Wish I had known that before I wasted 5 bucks on it.
Caleb Morris
I need to play this one of these days.
Jose Bailey
Demento, aka Haunting Ground.
Logan Rogers
Luis Morgan
You should've bought Dark Athena it comes with Butcher Bay on the disc
Ryan Anderson
do I play the og version or the dark athena version?
Andrew Cook
HEY PRISONER....
SHOW YOURSELF.
Connor Gomez
Dark Athena has some bullshit downgrades to various things but I don't recall what those are. Meaning that the original version of Butcher Bay is actually superior than the one that comes with Dark Athena.
Angel Myers
Probably had something to do with the likenesses (like the rapper in the first game and riddick himself)
Jonathan James
>underappreciated
>posts cult classics
I don't think you guys understood the thread
And this is only popular because of the controversy, it's actually a pretty mediocre game not worth the hype it's generated.
Caleb Barnes
So it's either either Cole Hauser or Alvin Joiner. Because Riddick is Diesel's favorite character and there's no way he didn't give Starbreeze an indefinite use of likeness license.
Jose Fisher
Its skips a ton of the actual game, like about 1/3. Its pretty much an abridged version.
Jose Long
Anthony Wright
Played the demo and liked it but ATLUS' shit is inexplicably expensive in the country I live.
Jordan Mitchell
how is dark cloud not underappreciated? I want my fucking remake and I want it now RRRRREEEEEEE
Ian Bailey
messiah
sacrifice
both frim shiny
Robert Nelson
I don't remember this. It's been probably 12 years since I played the original. What parts does it cut? They can't be all that remarkable since I literally can't remember them at all.
Nicholas Morgan
>pso2 never came stateside
I'll never not be mad
Kayden Rodriguez
Cold Fear, aka, Dead Space in the sea... before Dead Space was even a thing. Hard to believe there was a time when Ubisoft took chances.
Carter Myers
Starbreeze has no say. I think Tigon carries with it the IP rights, and Atari may also have a say in the distribution of Dark Athena.
Please give it to Machine Games.
Robert Brooks
I confused it a lot with re4 when I saw any media materials of any them.
Dylan Watson
This is just a rip off of carrier and deep fear, and, to a lesser extent, re dead aim.
Lucas Morris
>giving anything to machinegames after seeing how they ruined Wolfenstein
No thank you. Besides, most of the ex-starbreeze talent there left sometime after TNO came out hence the massive drop in quality
Joseph Cook
Samuel Ramirez
Austin Perry
This entire thread:
Alexander Young
Advent rising on xbox
Christian Cook
So they left Starbreeze only to leave Machine Games at a moment's notice? What are they doing now?
Tyler Jackson
Ayden Jackson
Its funny how much more powerful the og xbox was than wii
Ryan Phillips
The only good thing about this game, apart from some ideas that were badly implemented, were the hilarious dialogues and the horrible voice acting.
Oliver Torres
Carson Sanders
The 2017 iteration is an abomination
Anthony Foster
It’s retarded how there is all these sequels to this game on the handhelds, ripe for emulation - but all I want to do is go back. It goes beyond nostalgia into some pavlog dog shit. I see the boxart and I start tearing up and the Pioneer 2 theme starts playing.
Grayson Bennett
Both are great.
Carter Campbell
Levi Gomez
they're not even remotely similar, you would say the same thing if the original prey 2 had been finished
Camden Cook
It even gave Ace Combat a run for its money back in the day.
Ethan Murphy
>Iteration
Logan Thompson
2017 prey has some truly awful enemy design and asian characters. If that wasnt bad enough it has nothing to do with the bitchin 2006 game nobody should support bethesda or arkane after what happened wih prey 2 and human head
Lincoln Howard
hehe
dick
Gabriel Wood
go back to bed grandpa
Adrian Morris
is ZOE2 underappreciated?
Nathaniel Sullivan
Duke always wins baby. This game pairs well with prey 2006, riddick 04, doom 3, and quake 4. Its the holy quintet of post 2000 fps games,
Nathan Young
I just find it amusing that people were making a big deal about the MC being asian, when the 2006 Prey had a Native American protag.
Samuel Johnson
MALICE
Lincoln Peterson
Most underaprecciated game in FC franchise with best plot and setting.
Christian Gray
Native americans are cool and noble, look at turok. Native have always been bro tier, asians are souless husks.
Christopher Morris
Henry Butler
Matthew Bennett
Ethan Nelson
I remember watching TheRadBrad play this.
Thomas Long
This game was better than it had any right to be.
William Ward
>game just ends without tying up any plot-lines
>best plot and setting.
Isaac Allen
And? How it was for you?
Gabriel Taylor
Josiah Smith
people are too mean to pic related
Benjamin Gutierrez
I mean, entire thing with Jackal is brilliant. His tapes, his actions and overall his motives. This is what makes this game great in story. Not to mention, how still criminally close was Africa to these days.
Easton Young
This game is unironically better than any resident evil game post 4.
Brandon Phillips
Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza
I had a demo version of this game called “Nakatomi Plaza” and I played the shit out of it. All I can remember was crawling around in vents using a lighter to see; and some solid for 2002 shooting. It was easily on par with Half-Life, even if released a few years later.
Only years later again did I realise Die Hard was set in Nakatomi Plaza - did I realise it was some licenced Die Hard game. Maybe I was just a silly young man but I didn’t realise you were supposed to be John McClane going through the events of the film.
Based on the wikipedia it seems like it maybe hit development hell and bounced between common engines of the period; so maybe I actually played an earlier demo of it. Scores say it was a 6/10, hmm.
Wyatt Garcia
It looked cool. Is it available anywhere?
Jonathan Young
Blake Peterson
Sadly, but no. Only by pirating.
Kevin Perry
Cameron Torres
Lode Runner
the Alien Homonid PDA Minigame
any game that lets you possess enemies and use their powers
Nolan Bennett
my man
Xavier Fisher
I like this game. Super weird though that they back-loaded several companions and styles that you barely get to play with before the game is over. I think if you somehow unlocked styles by finding them and could then do any new-game+ using them from the start it would be cool. Mass Effect implemented a persistance like that. Now we have Anthem, what a shame.
Austin Russell
pretty guud games really
Parker Mitchell
I had a demo for this game from xbox magazine and I replayed it endlessly.
would love a modern re-take of that game that ups the investigation aspect as well. I always loved that part and wished it was more flushed out.
buggy trash but so good
Kayden Johnson
Late 90s and Early 00s were a cool time. You could tell they just wanted to make their own Ghost In The Shell game.
Luke James
Tyler Bell
I had it on PS2. I remember not playing beyond the first levels.
Nathan Perry
tron as a whole really deserves more appreciation
Juan Hill
If this was the FPS where you can shoot discs at people then this was cool.
Carter Hernandez
yes it was
Levi Diaz
It is one of the most beloved SW games, user
Daniel Young
From the mind of orson scott card.
Connor Thompson
Prequel trilogy fan checking in, should i get this on xbone. I have been bicurious about it. Whats it like?
Charles White
Not only was the game fucking great, the movies were pretty good too.
Jordan Thomas
This is literally an obscure games discord for underappreciTed games
Andrew Lewis
Certainly one of the most unique stealth AND horror games ever, not many games can claim to be unique entries for two genres.
Endless potetnial for manhunt and i hope that take two and rockstar grow a spine and do another one.
Gabriel Foster
I tried playing this but I just can't get it to run on Widows 7
Connor Hall
>you will NEVER play this game
Oliver Ortiz
I remember thinking this was visually quite impressive for 2005
Ryan Cruz
A fun little campaign in which you follow an elite squad of clones. It aged pretty well both in gameplay and graphics, although to this day I hate some of the droids designs.
Christian Wright
Joshua Thomas
It's free on Xbox GWG right now. Why wouldn't you download it if you're curious?
Connor Rivera
Andrew Kelly
remember it being good, my memory serving me well?
Andrew Hernandez
>russian game
>fight god
John Miller
Bionic Command 2008. The storyline is god awful but man is it fun.
Aiden Clark
KCD on PC did well but I feel more people should play it, at launch it was jank but it's a very solid game.
Ryder Watson
It's ukrainian, lol.
And no, seems you didn't get the point of plot.
Owen Garcia
Because every time you download a digital product your console lifespan is reduced by up to 30 minutes. That, and the meta data is rerouted to central intelligence, so before I download i make sure i really want to play.
Isaac Gutierrez
you sound like the worst kind of contrarian, the type of dude who brings shit up after everyone else has moved on just to add something nobody was really talking about to begin with.
Justin Gomez
>games is
>that unique combination of illiteracy, arrogance, and obsession
definitely a european poster
Jaxon Long
Lol
Cooper Garcia
Lol got em.
Caleb Gutierrez
good game but orson scott card just did the dialogue for the game director's treatment and outline
i had the great fortune of never running into any of the 9-10 game ending bugs that journalists griped about endlessly
Lincoln Gomez
>third choice
>he couldn't remember the name of Messiah
next time just run a google search jackass
Josiah Murphy
it wasn't just good. It was incredible
Aiden Morales
Dont you think this is the high concept sort of game which would be cool to reimagine with new tech and mormon and scientology themes interwoven in? I would love to see it.
Wyatt Reed
easily the best bioware rpg, can't believe how little this game gets in appreciation
like at least the gameplay isn't just a black isles copy+paste job without the dnd mechanics to back up the pseudo-real time
Luke Morgan
one of my personal GOATs
when i was much younger it was too frustrating dealing with ammo(energy or whatever) so i used cheats
also i skipped levels just to see the whole game
ive played it through without cheats multiple times now dont worry
Cooper Torres
yeah it would undoubtedly be better today, it was ambitious af and i respect it mostly for that reason
Ian Evans
>Because every time you download a digital product your console lifespan is reduced by up to 30 minutes
What?
Jaxson Howard
Daniel Lee
don't
cliffhanger elements and never ever ever getting a sequel
Owen Ward
jesus dude don't believe everything you read from Martin whose uncle works at Microsoft
Bentley Williams
Oh, you're a tinhat. Got it.
Ayden Morales
I got a key on g2a, there is none right now
Alexander Lopez
I remember ryan mcaffery and xbox magazine billing this as the next titan to stand beside halo. They did the same tor brute force(pictured). Two very cool games which should have stayed in xbox exclusive stable and been further explored. The brand would be much more robust today had they done so.
Charles Perez
what are you going to post next?, perfect dark zero?
Eli Murphy
thanks for keeping my backlog tending to infinity
Sebastian Scott
I have it on my wishlist, I'm opening a business I'm not in the position of throwing money right now
Andrew Walker
One of my all time favorite games.
Gabriel Taylor
yeah brute force was dope and also before its time, xbox live/online play just wasn't quite big enough yet
Logan Adams
Juan Sanders
I played through this a few months ago and to be honest while the concepts are cool this game is pretty shitty, especially by the end when it starts repeating parts of the game and copy and pasting level design over and over in between throwing you in jank multi-enemy clusterfuck fights. I honestly can't believe I managed to finish it.
Carson Reyes
Anyone? :(
Noah Baker
Just download the 2004 R.G. Mechanics torrent

Thomas Collins
Yeah this is one of the few in this thread which shouldnt have been posted at all.
Levi Cook
I've noticed that a lot of these games are OG Xbox games, I guess most people used it just to play Halo.
Tyler Flores
I never actually played sudeki but i find the aesthetic charming in retrospect. Like highly polished, high concept 90s fmv.
Joseph Young
>There are 3d beatemups without spanking
Josiah Morales
this one
Hudson Perry
This game is already regarded as an rpg classic though.
Easton Fisher
I had this when I was younger and could never get very far and found it a slog to play after just having finished Halo for like the tenth time. Then I played it again just a few weeks ago and found a lot of enjoyment in the cheese story, weird sci-fi settings and weapons.
Not to say that it is a fantastic game or anything, but considering that it killed the small studio behind it in the process, I'd say it counts as underappreciated.
Jace Hill
great game, a shame the original starbreeze team scattered to the wind
Luke Reed
>your brain on gearbox
Samuel Rodriguez
Yeah, same.
Really wanted to like it more. Find it unlikely that I'll ever go back to it.
Hudson Campbell
>using something degrades it
wew lad, who would have thought?
Jeremiah Foster
>>you will NEVER play this game
but I did?
