Steam Link Anywhere

Gaben, in an obvious attempt to steal the thunder of Google cloud gaming service in a matter of days, just released Steam Link Anywhere
Same functionality as the current Steam Link app, BUT YOU CAN STREAM TO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD USING THE INTERNETS
steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/0/3362406825533023360/
tldr: you can stream you steam games to your mobile phone ON THE FUCKING GO

Are you retarded? This has been available for a while.

No, you are retarded
they just added streaming OVER THE INTERNET, not just local streaming

>you can stream you steam games to your mobile phone ON THE FUCKING GO
What games would i want to stream?
I won't buy a gamepad for my phone because
1. i don't give a fuck enough about gaming on phones.
2. This shit is 3ds tier cringe.
3. Majority of my fav games on steam are old or indies, they don't support gamepad

And playing pc games on touchscreen? LMAO

this is basically your own cloud gaming system

You can stream over the internet to another PC too, over the internet
I can't believe you are this challenged

>You can stream over the internet to another PC too, over the internet
Why would i ever do this? Easier just to buy a net/notebook and download there all of my games

I dont get it do you stream it from your computer to another computer?
Whats the point
Why cant I stream it from valve directly?

well, for example, you can go to a friends house and play your games on his TV using the steam link app
you can play on the go whatever you want
it is basically a personal cloud gaming system

But my computer at home needs to be on?

yep
you are running the game in your own hardware at home

1. I live in a 3rd world shithole, barely anyone here has smart tvs, just basic lcds.
2. Most of Pc games are barely suited for bringing them for couch coop.
Easier to bring a console for this.

It isn't limited to local connection anymore

I see
If this is about competing with the google thing I dont think it will be very effective but its neat to have I guess

Valve cant even make their games not crash on their own fucking engine or keep their storefront from crashing every week you think they can make a proper streaming service for games?
Especially over Google?

Yes, and it needs to have whatever game installed and then when you want to stream it it has to run it.

This shit is fucking useless, streaming is cancer, but at least Playstation Now etc actually stream games off of their own servers, not yours.

>tldr: you can stream you steam games to your mobile phone ON THE FUCKING GO
I've been doing this for years to play visual novels on my phone.
Remote control is nothing new.

I've been doing this with Dorf Fort for half a decade now.

Why is Steam always so fucking behind everyone else?

now you can enjoy the same remote desktop that has always been available to anyone with a functioning brain, now with exactly the same shit latency you would expect from a mobile connection.

I was behind your mom last night.

yeah good luck with gamepad support on that, retard

How long until Steam is available on the consoles?

>Steam Link hardware only

t....thanks Valve

Yeah, after 40 years worth of guys have already been behind her.

Just like Steam, you're way fucking behind.

nope
it works in android, too

LOL welcome to ten fucking years ago Gabe, did your employees seriously just spend a decade stealing shit from Github and charging you for the privilege?

Nu-Valve is so fucking embarrassing.

>Lets make our own controller
Flop.
>Lets make our own hardware
Flop.
>Lets make our own OS
Flop.
>Lets do VR
Flop.
>Lets make a card game
Flop.
>Lets make a real game!
But sir, all our real devs left years ago.

You can install linux on hacked ps4 and with some custom barely working graphics drivers people were able to run some games from steam in ps4. IIRC it was Bastion and it lagged hard.

>>Lets make our own controller
>Flop.
I liked it
>>Lets make our own hardware
>Flop.
True. Linux is not big enough to be main os for pc based gaming systems.
>>Lets make our own OS
>Flop
While this is true they did help linux community a lot. They pushed amd and nvidia to make decent drivers.
Their custom compositing and window manager is amazing for games.
And now Proton awesome thing for people who just want console experience(press one button to play, without fucking around with terminal for hours)

Imagine squandering all those resources and all that time for literally nothing.

Based

what resources? the only people that believe steam os is a flop are tech iliterates that can't even understand what it is
the same with the so called "steam hardware"... it was just an oem certification program
you probably get your news from VNN, because you are quite ignorant

>what resources?
The resources it took to create? Things don't magically appear out of thin air user.

The intention is nice but it just doesn't seem very practical, all things considered.

they didn't create a single thing
it is just a debian distro with the client and some audio fixes/patches
this is what I am talking about: that the people that say steam os is a flop don't even know what it is, and it is still getting updates daily
the same as the steam link
it was not a flop: they released an app so that every device can act as an steam link, so they discontinued that box in favor of whatever box you want (ie: a rasp)
that stupid Tyler retard knows shit

Remember to tell Gabe all of this during your next peer performance review kek

muh shill
it is always the same
meme guy spits the same bulltshit he has read on blogs, and then when he gets the facts straight, calls muh valve drones
go install steam os, so you stop spreading lies
or install the steam link app in your phone

you (and everyone else) forgot about steam broadcasting!

Attached: Steam-Stream-Broadcast.png (1595x787, 938K)

why is this a flop?

>more shitty updates
meh let us update our steam profile background instead gabe.

For nothing? I for one am glad to be able to ditch Windows finally.

the fact that those are the highest numbers for whatever those streams are on steam, and the fact that NOBODY talks about it, ever. not even valve

Because steam, as a software, is fucking shit.
It's horribly laggy and shitty.

I still don't understand why that feature is a flop
do you want the twitch numbers? you will not get them because you can't monetize streams on steam, retard

Its not a flop, those streams are very successful most of the time.

Google has the stream experience, Steam has the game experience. If all these huge companies wouldn't all want 100% of the pie, they could work together and funnel resources and actually make a really well made system. Oh well

I sincerely hope Google will debut cloud gaming, but the same as Nvidia geforce now, a machine where you can install whatever games you want
not a streaming store where you need to buy the games again

shitting on valve is a weak meme at this point
90% of the complaints are parroted journos lies
at least put some effort
