Botw appreciation

no botw thread? Let's change that.

this game is good, but i can't help but feel it has more potential. imagine the sweetass optional dungeons they could've had around the map. it could've used some enemy variety too but the mini bosses were god tier.

it definitely has potential. It just scratched the surface of what it could've done and that's what brings it down for so many people. It's a step in the right direction if they now don't fuck it over.

I replayed it recently and realized it actually is a masterpiece.

what made you come to that conclusion compared to your first playthrough? I personally wish i could've experienced it for the first time again.

Game of the generation. At least until the sequel in 2022 ;).

Attached: botwsnow.png (1590x891, 1.2M)

Not the user you replied to but in my case it was when I realised I'd been playing the game for almost a year across three accounts without getting bored

Attached: 0369-applause-zelda-link.jpg (900x1200, 129K)

>2022
>not 2020
user they didn't just code a whole engine with such ezpz copy paste and reusing assets so easily for a sequel in 2022

Attached: 18.png (1920x1080, 2.88M)

I feel you. I've done the same and on my main account I've logged 450+ hours where most of those hours is just fucking about in the overworld and getting gud.

Attached: 9.png (1920x1080, 2.92M)

I definitely can't wait to see what they do for a sequel but as it stands it's already my favorite Zelda game/game period. I love hiking and being outdoors in general and this is the first game I've played that really nails that same appeal of being out and about in nature for me

Months it took me to figure out that. Months.

I don't care if I'm retarded, it was such a great moment.

oh absolutely. Agreed.

trust me bro its going to be 2022. Think about 1986 and 1998. This next Zelda will be the best Zelda for a long time.

Attached: botw1.png (1920x1080, 2M)

Don't worry she's not forgotten.

I hope to see it soon at least. It's a game that I'd prefer to see at least a year before release.

Attached: . Screenshot 2019-03-03 18-23-41.png (1920x1080, 2.27M)

BotW isn't bad but the fact is the legion of good things it brought would've been even better if they were in addition to the best parts of the Zelda formula rather than a complete replacement

here's how it's gonna go at the quickest.
>2019 Teaser
>2020 Trailer
>2021 Gameplay
>Release set for 2021 Holiday

It was a really cool puzzle.
When I did it there was a blizzard going on and I hadn't activated the tower yet, so I was completely lost when I exited the shrine.
And that just made things more fun!

I can only dream, user. Maybe not a teaser this year, not until LA gets closer.

Attached: . Screenshot 2019-03-04 23-00-34.png (1920x1080, 2.42M)

Love this game.

it's honestly such a fucking shame with the butchered quality of switch screenshots.

ik they never do it justice

Attached: gp.jpg (2576x1440, 2.06M)

I'm also stuck at a shrine. It is somewhere inside a mountain but i can't find it. I walked for an hour trying to find some kind of entrance. I love it. That's how it should be.

glad you like them, user! I've been taking a lot of screens ever since I started using my capture card and replaying the game.

Also, the jojo walk.

...

I always turn off the Shrine Sensor and I refuse to look at guides. Still to this day I'm missing 4 Shrines. My OCD friends think I'm insane for not looking them up but I like the idea that they're out there somewhere despite me searching the game inside out and back to front for two years.

Attached: 10924234_602577989875135_5609043000093881261_o.jpg (843x902, 142K)

iirc there are shrines that are tied to quests and certain actions. So that could be why you're missing a few. This makes it nice, they aren't just popped up in the world ready to be spotted from afar.

Attached: . Screenshot 2019-03-03 18-12-51.png (1920x1080, 3.38M)

I'm sure Nintendo thought that they had already put enough effort into it and wanted to save more for future games. It's one of the best games of all time for me, but a little extra effort would've been nice.

does anyone else play without teleport/fast travel?

i've found it a really enjoyable experience to need to plan in advance why i'm going somewhere, and what to do next or along the way

I just beat the elephant, what should I do now?

Attached: 79331d37288c4a7fce85835418ba46c1.jpg (940x492, 119K)

beat the bird imo, they have the best music (and village perhaps). Find more memories and shrines. You can also pay a visit to the lost woods.

Attached: 1.png (1920x1080, 3.62M)

The only time I used Fast Travel was when I picked up a new weapon/shield for the compendium, because I have OCD and absolutely had to take pictures of weapons hanging from the weapon racks in the house.
Even then, I'd only fast travel if I standing at a shrine or tower. When I was done snapping photos, I'd travel back where I was.

I do have the Shrine Sensor on, but never look at any guide ever. Makes me feel like a failure. I'm playing the dlc from Captain Toad right now and they make me feel like a retard for not seeing it fast enough. Some of the levels are brilliant. Or i'm indeed an idiot. Fuck you Nintendo.

The toad dlc is how dlc supposed to be. They are going all out with the extra book. They should use some of the puzzle mechanics in Zelda.

looks like shit

Me too. Had the game since launch but played until the glider and stopped until last week. It started slow but unlocking more regions made it more enjoyable. Also, this time I took my time and enjoyed the scenery. Also, first Zelda I would technically fully play

BotW should have been much harder, see, that webm looks fun and all but none of that is needed at all, they should have forced the player to come up with creative solutions not only to puzzles but to world traversal and fights.

Of course this weeb site thinks this average open world game is the best thing ever. Its shitty witcher 3 with terrible weapon degradation and repetitive shrines. Game is good for one playthrough unless youre some autist who pats yourself on the back for solving a puzzle you already beat

Attached: 177.png (2560x1440, 3.68M)

Attached: 316.png (2560x1440, 3.67M)

Understandable, I suppose. By the way, as far as your diatribe about the next Zelda game being the best of all time, it's directed by Aonuma again, so that's not going to happen. Zelda only has a chance to become the greatest as long as Koizumi is directing, and he hasn't been given the job.

Attached: 129.png (2560x1440, 3.66M)

I didn't expect you guys to come in so late.

Attached: 61.png (2560x1440, 3.66M)

Attached: 354.png (2560x1440, 3.66M)

I wasn't the user who said it's going to be the best of all time. I'm the user who hopes for some shit before 2022. I believe they will use botw as a staple for copy pasting and reusing as much as they can and "improve" whatever the fuck they think they should and can improve.

I'm a bit tired of Aonuma, at least Miyamoto isn't shoving his cock in the franchise.

Attached: . Screenshot 2019-03-14 21-16-18.png (1920x1080, 2.94M)

I'm just being somewhat reasonable, hearing that you would "Recommend this game to absolutely everyone" is a really bold claim, it's something you reserve for something like Ghost Trick for being a masterpiece in writing, mastery of accessible gameplay and creativity in gameplay. BotW doesn't really achieve those kinds of things that makes it a universally appealing game.

Attached: 366.png (2560x1440, 3.65M)

Attached: 201.png (2560x1440, 3.65M)

Attached: 1530536494023.jpg (449x998, 201K)

Aonuma is a complete hack, so I don't particularly expect "improvements" aside from the gamefreak version of "improvements" which is "do things that several company's have done decades before but your userbase consists of people who restrict their tastes to solely your brand so they don't know any better."

I'm all for a botw thread but you aren't supposed to just spam your screenshots. Not your blog.

I never said I would recommend it to everyone. I just said I think everyone can find bits and pieces to enjoy playing this game.
>botw doesn't really achieve those kinds of things that makes it a universally appealing game
idk man it's pretty appealing to even the most casual people.
>that one bitch who beat 2 divine beasts without ever holding L to parry/flurry or even sidehop and backflip

I get you. Stop being pissy about a game people like and go touch your Kass plushie in all the wrong places. Have a good one.

OHH NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOO

Appealing to casuals =/= appealing to everyone. You misunderstand what the foundation of "universal accessibility" is, which is essentially "easy to learn, hard to master." Breath of the Wild offers nothing to videogame players who want an engaging and deep narrative, ludonarrative or otherwise, it offers nothing to players who seek extrinsic motivation for their play, it offers nothing to players who want meaningful interactions with the world, it doesn't reward completionism, etc.

Also, appealing to only casuals or core gamers? Sounds a lot like the call of duty or battlefield series to me.

Attached: perfect.jpg (2000x2000, 1.63M)

Oh and also, accepting the flaws of your favorite game shows you have a lot more passion or care for it than just outright denying or hating to hear negativity about it.

This. Thread was comfy for a while

Ignore the shitposters. Got some good screens of my favorite game. I don't have the money for a good PC.

>it doesn't appeal to my autistic needs
ok gotcha. Literally a game you can pick up and play and understand the basics, like reading harry potter. It doesn't scratch your itch but you can understand the words you read.
>I accept the flaws of the game but shit on those who do as well so i can't be criticized
just give it up. We were having a comfy thread and appreciating the game and I appreciated that anons took their time to play a game that didn't ache to their needs.

sadly. down the shitter it goes.

>Animal species turns up as regular occurring wildlife later in the timeline.
>Nobody is suspicious where these animals came from.

You're projecting a lot of things that I never said. For one, I didn't say they were my needs, and frankly the fact you consider those needs "autistic" shows just how unable you are to actually claim who or whatnot can enjoy BotW, because you are too socially inept in order to understand how subjectivity works.

Also, I didn't shit on anyone. Quit getting upset.

BOTW2 should be Majora's mask 2.0. Same base but completely different. Really like a smaller map with more content too.

Attached: 1552586848773.png (500x379, 190K)

Link should cross the ocean in a boat to find new adventure on a remote island.
Kodah should follow him, and stay with the boat as home base.

YOU WILL NEVER PLAY IT FOR THE FIRST TIME AGAIN

How the fuck did he fly up so high?

Honestly I love this game, despite hating it when it came out. My second chance play through really sold me, and I had a ton of fun with it. I put like 30 hours into it, and I started playing other shit. Now it’s been two months and I tried replaying it, and it’s really hard to get back into it. It’s one of those games where you have to get it all done in one swing, or you will scratch your head if you come back to it after too long. Dunno might make a new save file. Had a lot of fun with it for sure.

me desu

I miss dungeons, hate weapon degradation, fuck shrines.

Still a good game though.

At least there's the next game, coming soon in early 2028.

Koizumi. is. not. directing.

You're not going to get Majora's Mask 2.0, sorry.

I recommend:
Paper Mario Thousand Year Door
La-mulana
Silent Hill 2
Thief
Terranigma
Ghost Trick
Killer7
No More Heroes
etc.
as far as games that will make you wish you could play them for the first time again.

>37 posters

So the only reason anybody discuss this game is for the criticism? Too much for a 97 game I guess.

most of the time criticism turns into whiny bullshit so its better to just have separate threads for appreciation.
