Alienware. I SWEAR by Alienware and I've been a PC gamer for 12 years.
Don't listen to .
Premades are always an option, but will always be more expensive than getting the parts and building your own.
Learn about the components in a computer and what they do (solid states, ram, etc.). If you're the type to enjoy building your own rig, New Egg is a great resource too.
Yeah I've noticed that it's way cheaper to build your own, I've been doing some research but I think might be out of my realm to do my own build. There's lots of good guides though which is nice but I'm not decided on doing the build route yet.
>modded Skyrim/Fallout/BDO
Yikes
I would 100% recommend building your own PC. You learn a lot about hardware in the process and upgrading parts in the future will be as easy as putting legos together.
Totally get it. For a gaming computer you're going to want to look at a couple of things. Processor, ram, graphics card and hard drive capacity. A solid way to find out what you need is to look at the system requirements for the games you like. That'll be your starting off point. Also, some prebuilt computers have the space to add in extra ram or hard drive capacity, add or swap a graphics card, but your processor is something you're gonna stick with.
Thanks! I've been looking at some stuff with quad cores which seem good, also I'm trying to avoid Windows 10 which has been somewhat difficult
Listen to me. Its not. Im a poor wagecuck who knows nothing about computers and i put mine together.
Just READ the manuel that comes with your mobo. If you get confused hit up pcg on g
Base your build on what resolution you want to play.
This. Dont forget about right monitor. 120 refresh rate, ips, tn, va panels, check pros and cons on yt. Also 2666mhz ram is minimum. Check performance of graphics card and processors in gaming on yt. Just type "gtx1070 performance gaming" then just switch to lets say 1060 and write down fps said cards achieve in games u are interested in. Then do the same with processors. Combo you are looking for is card and processor which are capable on running games at simillar frame rates. That way you will be sure that card is not overpowered compared to processor. Power supply should be 600-700 watt nothing more nothing less unless you plan to put 2 graphics card then a little bit more. Have fun in pcmasterrace side
Get the ACER Predator 21X.
It's all you need!!!
I don't mean to be an asshole, but getting a new PC just for that is a waste of money
>I've been doing some research but I think might be out of my realm to do my own build.
trust me you aren't pc's (and most complicated things in general) are made to be extremely simple to put together and take apart to lower risk of damage everything goes together like a puzzle piece the only thing with moving parts are fans( nigh indestructible) or the HDD which is cased just be gentle on the motherboard and the CPU and you can slam everything else in place without any damage even if you go prebuilt you'll eventually have to crack open the case to add or replace something so get familiar while you can
Thanks for all the info! I'll check that out.
My laptop is dying and it's going to cost more than it's worth to fix it so I'm going to get a new one anyway. I just want to have the new whatever I get able to run that shit since my current toaster can't
I’m in the same boat, long time consolefag but I need a PC to play modded versions of my favourite games. I’m building one with an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU and a GTX 1660 Ti mostly likely. Just do your own research, it’s half of the fun.
What's your budget?
What resolution you want to play at?
Protip: used parts are legit.
What's your budget?
Logical increments.
Probably just 1080 unless I can find a deal on a better monitor or something. $500-700ish I think
Gonna need more than that for mods buddy.
Also if you're not interested in building your pc on your own, you can try to see if you can buy straight from the factory or a retailer that belongs to the factory. It's always a lot cheaper.
Not a huge budget. You may want to consider buying a used PC and then filling it with upgraded parts.
I bought a pre-built for like $700 from best buy like 3 years ago and it's still running the latest games easily. I don't get this meme.
Post specs
What kind was it?
I was just going to get a thinkpad, myself.
That's really not a lot.
Get modded Stalker
Why would there be an American weapon in the Zone?
Something like this?
pcpartpicker.com
Keep in mind the card is not counted in the price, it's another 220$
You could swap it for a 570/580 and save ~40$, but it doesn't really make much sense IMO.
This is what I would consider a minimum reasonable gaming PC these days.
I've been looking at some but I'm not super confident in all the info/specs they provide not really knowing much about how to upgrade effectively. I've seen some stuff about hp z600's being used for that but I haven't found anything concrete.
What kind is it/What guts does it have?
Is 16GB of memory really not a meme anymore?
It isn't
Also make sure you don't cheap out on the PSU too. You don't want shit like Bronze. Get a Titanium is my personal preference.
whats better
2 sticks of 4 gb ram or 1 stick of 8 gb ram
You can usually check the specs from the original manufacturer. That should tell you the maximum RAM and how well it's equipped with pcie slots.
Assume that you will be replacing all the RAM with something new, and then be pleasantly surprised if you don't need to.
Check the required wattage of any video card you hope to install, because it may mean you need to change the power supply. Power supplies are easy to install, except you may need adapter plugs to make it compatible with the proprietary motherboard interfaces.
SSD hard drives are a nice luxury. It's hard to go wrong really.
Assume you will need extra cooling. Even if you don't need it, get more.
>SSD hard drives are a nice luxury.
>SSD
>luxury
OP also hold out on buying a new cpu, because the new Zens are right around the corner.
Firefox needs 32GB to run smoothly.
Because everything is imported, dummy
yes, don't be this guy
You're not cool if you don't have RGB RAM.
What if I don't have RGB anything?
I hate case lighting. It's just pointless visual noise.
>waitfags
if someone listened to your camp, they'd still be running Voodoo gfx waiting for the next ***breakthrough*** technology that's *just around the corner* (which inevitably turns out to be only a meager improvement)
I meant platinum at least.
The new cpus from amd are going to beat Incel's. Which are still at 14nm.
Gpus on the other hand I agree with you because Navi isn't going to be as great as it is being hyped up to be.
In Cinebench maybe
I just started ordering new parts for a game PC, but I'm going a slightly different direction because my goals are different.
Found an inexpensive refurbished i7-3770, and a used Micro-ATX IBM motherboard. I made sure the motherboard had a floppy controller, because I have hundreds of old 5.25 floppies that I want to access. Putting in an nvidia card; Not the latest, but it is fanless and technically supports DirectX 12 if I want it to. Getting a low profile case with a single 5.25 external drive bay, into which I will place my dual floppy drive. Plan to paint the whole thing beige or white to complement the old drive. it should end up around the size of a large gaming console.
Their tech support is garbage trash , they will fight you to be able to use your warranty and you will fight to be able to even understand anything their "tech support" is even trying to say in English due to their Pajeet accent.
And they always want to connect to your desktop remotely which causes privacy problems and actual problems when they start to update and delete things without your permission.
They never fixed my problem and made my computer worst , I feel bad for trusting them both in their ability to help and in trusting the warranty at all.
Alienware is Dell , a Dell warranty is not to be trusted .
I bought Alienware for both the name Alienware and the name Dell because I believed they were good brands , but next time I buy a computer I will just go with whatever is the cheapest on Amazon based on what I want.
I'm not building a computer , or maybe I will next time , but if I don't , it will just be the cheapest of what specs I want on Amazon.
2 sticks. Dual channel is much better than single channel
first time building a PC, how does this look?
and can someone explain how the DDR/GDDR stuff works? I was always under the impression that you should match the DDR on your RAM to that of your GPU, so they're both DDR3 etc
but the 1080 is GDDR5, and as far as I know there is no DDR5 or DDR4 RAM; so I assume I just go DDR3 for RAM?
You type like a thirdworlder yourself. Do you know that?
Regardless, if you can't be bothered to complete the pre-school level task of building your own machine, you deserve every problem and annoyance that comes your way.
Fuck you Pajeet , learn English bitch
A friend gave me pic related a few years back when he gave up vidya. Can I salvage/reuse when upgrading? Probably going to be spending around $1000 on a new build.
How pathetic can ESL people get.
Fuck the current PC scene when shit like this and RGB lighting are considered "desirable"
>4 cores
NO!
My English is rock solid , it's your Pajeet brain that's having trouble with it.
More than a quad-core literally does not matter if all you're doing is playing games.
Holy shit you can drop a 4th gen intel i7k in there and a used 1060 all for 200 usd and have a good time
There are most certainly sticks of DDR4 RAM, and motherboards that support it are plentiful. You dont need to match up GPU RAM and RAM types.
It absolutely matters. You will have a stuttering mess otherwise
low quality posts indeed, filtered
yeah my bad, and thanks
Also nice PSU choice
Take after your friend and grow up.
Sell the parts on Ebay, use the money to buy an old Thinkpad, install Gentoo.
Lol have fun with your 4 core cpu in 2019
Maybe if you're playing a simulator at 4k. Even then I've seen 2500k's run games fine nowadays.
I'd like to believe this post, but your namefagging worries me.
The .1 and 1% framerates are bad.
CyberpowerPC and ibuypower both have prebuilt systems that are cheaper than MSRP on the components, you'll get quality stuff but they might cut a corner here and there (i.e. cheaper power supply, small hard drives, etc.) Overall it's never been better to buy a prebuilt. Don't listen to out of date people here. You know these memesters
>a new PC primarily for running modded Skyrim/Fallout/BDO,
>new pc for 8y/o game and a shitty mmo
THE STATE OF PC GAMING
>premades are always more expensive than self-built
Not necessarily anymore, thanks to minerfags and gook ram collusion. If you look at the right time, you can get prebuilts on sale for less than you can get the parts yourself. Granted, you've got to get a few hundreds of dollars off, but they happen if you are patient.
I doubt that. The fact that you capitalized "Pajeet" multiple times show you have some sympathy for them. And how you somehow thought I was the other guy shows your insecurity.
Look up the 4th gen i7s yourself. That mobo you have is about 200 bucks or more due to the glut of 4th gen i7s and no mobos to put them on
>Skyrim
>Fallout
>BDO
Jesus christ
Someone kill this zoomer ass cancer
I would suggest a more powerful processor for longer futureproofing though if you're gonna be buying new games in the next 5+ years desu
Gold+ is the minimum. Plat is better, but marginally so.
Doghouse Systems.
Is 650W enough or should I get a 750, or a 850 PSU, because I heard that I need 800 PSU.
Holy fucking shit , we got a psychologist here , what a fucking faggot , fuck you and fuck him then
>the current PC scene
I don't remember OC modding being any different to how it is now back in 2006 when dual core cpu's were coming out as the next best thing.
keep hitting that space key in your esl class pajeet :)
test
>premades are always more expensive
Not true anymore thanks to cryptojews. Always check price history, you never know if some videocard had a price bump because it mines the newest bubble .1% faster. Really, ps2 graphics are fine, you don't need a graphix card.
There's a move back towards giant glasshouse cases to show off your lighting now that LEDs are back in fashion
this
Its always overestimated, I got a 750 though because I know I'll upgrade in the future. I don't think I'm using more than a little over half it's capacity
What the fuck are you even talking about you fucking retard
blame popularization of the "gamer" cultural stereotype
here's mine OP
Gigabyte Z370Aorus
Corsair RMx 750 W
4TB WESTERN DIGITAL
Intel Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz
G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
Cooler Master Masterliquid 240
Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250 GB
Fractal design Meshify C
building a pc is easy, build one
its pretty fun
Ram depends on mobo, mobo depends on processor.
So, theoretically I could toss in a 1060, an i7 4790K, and another 8GB of memory and be good for a while?
Look up the benchmarks. You would be covered for 144 hz on twitch shooters and 75 fps for modern AAA (except assasins creed which is terrible 60 fps only on top cpus)
Dont get a 4 core like this guy
I love my 8700k. I'm running a fucking 212 Evo on it and Lynx could only jump it up to 70 every now and then at 5.2. I didn't keep it there, I dont need that power and I want it to live a long life
sorry if this is brainlet as fuck but I want to be sure; my monitor (Acer K242HL) uses a DVI port, and the 1070 8GB has a 'Dual Link-DVI' port
what I'm using right now (pic) is a Dual Link-DVI I think, so my monitor should be compatible with the 1070 8GB, right?
Why do you not have a graphics card?
here, my goal is 1080 60fps, don't care for going any higher for a very long time
i have 600-650 dollar budget for new pc with exception of gpu as i already have bought 570 8gb rx from my buddy for cheap (i think it will suffice for now)
is building around ryzen 2600 decent idea? I know amd cpu are good for poorfags but haven't tried one yet
>primarily for running modded Skyrim/Fallout/BDO
gross dude
putting together a PC is easy as fuck though.
the HARDEST part is connecting your case to the motherboard. At least in my case. there are like 8 different fucking tiny ass pins and if you dont connect them correctly your PC wont start up. Its so fucking TEDIOUS AHHHHFUCK ME.
anyways besides that (which isnt hard, just tedious) its REALLY fucking simple to build a PC. like braindead easy. first time you will stumble and be confused sure but every single part is literally made to just "snap" into place very easily.
the only part I hate is how much shit you have to screw in and those goddamn case pins.
do yourself a favor and just make the jump and build a PC. If it doesnt work out you can always take it to your local geek squad or PC store and give them like 100 bucks to assemble it in 5 minutes while they laugh at you.
If you’re using a 570 a ryzen 1600 wont bottleneck you and are on sale right now. Get a mobo that will oc with it and you will be golden. I could get a ryzen 1600 for 80 bucks with heatsink, and a mobo for 50. You can get away with 8 gigs ram as well
lol sorry
MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB
ryzen 2600 is great if you already have 570
hell youll even get the Division 2 for free.
Tomahawk b450
Ryzen2600
thats pretty much all you need assuming you are carrying over the parts you have now (HDD/PowerSupply ect). Hilariously enough what you are about to get is exactly what I just built recently. couple it with a 144hz freesync monitor and you'll be pretty happy.
