while all the max payne games have somewhat pretentious writing the one in first mp is laced in such thick cheese that it reduces the pretentious aura of those darker more serious scenes. serious themes presented in campy environment makes the guy watching the piece less judgemental of its edginess. shame about the tonal change in the sequels.
