Post fighting game characters doing the thing they're famous for.
You can talk about your favorite fighting games, why you like them, memories either wholesome or competitive, fighting games only you've played and so on.
I got this stuff I wanted to share and hope y'all join in.
final round is tomorrow. soon Capcom will bless us with a new sfv announcement.
Eli Ward
Either mixup heavy characters or characters that have good corner pressure.
Tyler Mitchell
I really doubt it will be anything big. If it were they'd have delayed the arcade release to open it with big exciting new content, rather than current patch. Going to be a character and at best a small balance update. They aren't putting money into this game any more, even the type arcade website is some web 1.0 shit sfvac.jp/
Circle and Triangle don't work with negative edge. What buttons should B and C be set to for a pad. Not sure if it should be L1 and R1 or R1 and R2. I don't really like pressing the flimsy bottom bumpers on the DS controllers but I am not sure if using L1 is messing up my left thumb's motions
That's dependent on a number of factors. Do you prefer something close to the art style of those games because if it's just animation quality I'm gonna point you toward the newer Arc System Works games that have a handle on lighting and coloring 3D Models to make them look like 2D Illustrations.
Sadly the day of the pixel based fighting game is now left to indie studios remaking stuff like the old Neo Geo Pocket Color games like "Match of the Millennium" on the switch.
Ethan Nguyen
Christ is it impossible to keep some threads alive on this board.
ASW games do not have animations that are as good as Garou and Turd Strike.
The new 3D games are trying to copy the old 2D ASW animations and those were really low frame in comparison to those games.
ASW always did huge sprites with low frame animations.

Anyone going to EVO this year?
Plan on attending the SCVI bracket, fully expect to get my ass whooped and go 0-2, haven't been practicing due to work. My schedule is clearing up soon so hopefully I can get sharp again.
A lot of people say "Grappler", but I say "Big Body". I don't want command grab so much as I want a big fucking meaty button with super armor on it that moves me forward 30-50% of the screen. I don't care if I have the slowest speed in the game, no airdash (or even ground dash), and middling high-low/left-right mixups at best. All I need is that armor and hitboxes to match it.
Command grabs are nice though, especially advancing armored ones and anti-air grabs you can combo into.
is UNIST one of those games where it's going to be hard learning it no matter what, so I should pick who looks cool? i like Eltnum's design and her gun mechanic is cool
Juan Thompson
yes. everyone's OP in their own way, and everyone's difficult to play as in their own way, so don't be afraid of trying everyone out then sticking to who you like most
I'm starting to play a bit of SF4 with a friend that wanted to try the SF franchise. I'm not a great SF fan but I kind of miss it.
Not a fighting game at all. But damn it is fun to play.
I've also been trying out UMvC 3 and I'm liking 23/Storm/Phoenix.
Vanguard Princess. Made by a guy that supposedly was an ex-Capcom employee. It's absolutely stunning but also has a lot of fan-service. There's an "enhanced" version on Steam but the last free build should be linked in its Mizuumi Wiki page. Other than that I guess KoF XIII but VP is just on a whole different level.
I like odd mechanics with long term application. Examples of this are projectiles you can set first and use on command, like May's dolphins or Bridget's yo-yo; stock systems like Nine's; and A.B.A's health system. I also like pets, even if they don't do anything, like Mina's whatever it is supposed to be or Linne's little dragon.
No, but I am going to Combo Breaker in May. It's only an hour from my house and I enjoy the experience and friendlies. I mostly play Skullgirls but enjoy messing around with some of the other games there.
>23/Storm/Phoenix. Definitely an interesting team. Storm is the most solid mid-tier character in the whole roster, but you only ever really saw Wong play her. 23 & Phoenix might be incompatible on a strictly optimal level because 23's main draw is Level 3 unblockable incoming loops and Phoenix requires you to be very stingy on meter.
Amaterasu or Morrigan on Mid might work a bit better as they both have meter-build assists. Morrigan builds meter like a monster as well.
>23 & Phoenix might be incompatible on a strictly optimal level because 23's main draw is Level 3 unblockable incoming loops and Phoenix requires you to be very stingy on meter. Yeah, I was reading up on them on the SRK Wiki and noticed that it could be a problem. I don't know if Storm could really compensate in the middle. I like Amaterasu so I'll check it out.
What are you thoughts on Legacy characters, I.E. Characters taking up/over a slot by being an improved/altered version of a fighter from a previous entry?
I really do miss when it was just about a way to have fun with your buds. No every asshole thinks they need to be some big shot online e-warrior.
Alexander Rogers
Well that's really a matter of execution. Tekken 3 did it well but Soul Calibur 5 completely half assed it and gave us shit like monkey people and garu ninja.
Justin Lopez
Fighting games have always been a niche genre. The recent push to esports doesn't change the fact that normies will mostly stick to mainstream titles like SF. Tekken and MK over things like Blazblue, Arcana Heart, Unist, etc.
Parker Watson
Story Mode OR Arcade (don't need both but Arcade alone is better than Story alone) with unique endings (they can be art with voicing, it's fine like that), Survival, full Training mode suite that the bigger games have these days, Combo Challenges for each character, some level of variety in character looks (colors, costumes).
You can have other modes but I think that should be the standard for a fully-feature fighting game. DBFZ has its Raid battles and its Lobby stuff, NRS games have a bunch of side content, T7 has Bowling (although that was DLC).
How are some random assholes preventing you from having fun with your buds?
Adrian Carter
I don'd mind legacy characters but I also like developers being inventive and trying some new shit. Rostar bloat is shitty though, you just have hangers-on and characters that really should just go away.
I think there really HAS to be some kind of story mode. But not like the recent games have been doing it were the STORY is basically a single movie interrupted by fights. You do it that way and it always ends up just being about the small handful of mains while everyone else gets a glorified cameos if they're lucky.
I liked it better when every characters had their own story they would follow no matter how small or inane it could be. You know back when, for example, Guilty Gear X2 had like 3-4 story paths per character. Or Soul BLADE's Edge Master mode.
Cameron Sullivan
I'll be there for UNIST and Samsho, love those games.
Basically everything Them's Fightin' Herds is doing >random indie traditional anime fighter that grew out of a fan-game for a series that can't be named >has a break the targets mode when Smash Ultimate doesn't
Eli Moore
I love throwing out dumb shit from afar. I guess zoners, but really any move that can be spammed with decent spacing. I was always "that guy" with my friends. They hated my Remy (even though he sucks), and I love chucking grenades with Elphelt and her fucking H! SO SPAMMY.
In traditional ones like KoF or SF I tend to pick characters with rekkas or other forms of moving forward with some safe active frames covering my approach like Abel or Mature. I played SFV during it's free week and enjoyed Laura In airdashers I like puppeteers and characters with 'disconnected' moves, like able to set something does an attack while the character himself is free to move based shoto zoner
Brandon Morales
That sounds like what Arcade mode is supposed to be.
>Anyone going to EVO this year? Sad about GGXrd being gone, so I'm on the fence. Don't really give a shit about any of the top 8 besides maybe UNIST. Is it worth attending just to play casuals? Lately all I play is old shit like Third Strike and Garou so I'm out of the loop.
so go there and play old shit. Nobody to blame for xrd not being there besides arcsys
Jeremiah Hall
Shake the baby
Gavin Price
I made mine in order of how much I play/how less I suck Is my DBZ team still a meme team? I only played it a couple times and never touched it again but those 3 were really fun to play >yuzuriha She's too cool. Learning her to play as my sub character
I'm trying to grow out of being a degenerate trainingboar but also love that her moveset feels versatile enough to allow me to create my own shit in training mode
Alexander Lewis
>always want to try out fighting games >too scared to play online >fuck up my combos and execution if I face other people >want to main Juri in SF5 despite others telling me she is shit tier back then and all the other characters are lame, even the villains
James Stewart
SF5 on the whole is shit tier
Michael Evans
>he doesn't go to locals What the FUCK is your excuse?
In my opinion no. I feel like it is always crowed and there aren't enough open set ups to play casuals. Vegas isn't exactly cheap either. I'd say support your local tournaments and the one that do actually have the games you want to enter in. Unless being in a crowd to react to news means that much to you.
>want to main Juri in SF5 Ah yes, truly the sign of a plebian.
Stop thinking with your micro penis and use that pea sized brain for once. You start with a character like Ryu, you learn general mechanics and controls, then move on to learning some less general things like your characters' BnB combos and movement. After that you grind matches like a motherfucker. You will grind for months and months and still be shit, but will be improving. Stop being a faggot and just do it.
Sebastian Martinez
Dominant girl and mean girls are the only justifiable way he could ever see himself becoming intimate with a woman.
Austin Bell
he has trash taste but there is nothing wrong with picking characters you want to play. No reason to play a character you don't want to play
Josiah Clark
Fuck Ryu
Parker Russell
Overall I agree with you but I'm just sick of these idiots going "I want to main Juri/Angel/Baiken, how do I become good enough to win evo in a week?" and other stupid expectations. Choosing with your dick isn't how you should pick a main, actually fucking play the characters. These idiots buy a game, try playing Juri/Angel/Baiken, realize they're hard as fuck to play, and then just quit after a few days in training mode. It's absolutely retarded. As boring as you might find him his design is still one of, if not, the best for introducing new players the genre.
Nicholas Rodriguez
I live in SC, there was a local scene around 2012 but I got into fighting games late. Dead weight.
Juan Thomas
Either grapples or someone with some sort gimmik, like armor or some weird shit.
I suck at fighting games though, the only one I was ever decent at was usf4 but decent might be a stretch.
no need at getting mad at the waifu lords man, them playing or not doesn't effect you. Plus I don't agree with ryu being the best introduction flat out. The person should play who they are interested in so they actually want to play. Plus giving new players a DP is always shitty cause they never learn to block
Easton Howard
I wanna see a 2 or 3d vehicular combat fighting game.
The problem with Juri isn't that she's an "evil" girl, it's that she's babies first "LOL EVIL" girl.
Zachary Watson
Shes just evil chun li but her and azula fill this niche that I just don't understand the appeal of
Liam Martin
>Hur durr everyone but me quits in a week.
Because you're in their house watching them play every day. Fuck you. The people who drop a game for being hard aren't gonna stick with it by picking boring vanilla characters like Ryu either. A waifu shitter may play the game casually for their waifu and never get evo good but at least they're gonna be honest about it. Which is more than we can say about FGCuck turbo badasses like you.
I sold my copy after getting my fill of Abigail (he's the only reason I didn't get rid of it sooner, I needed to try out that big lumbering fuck). Still, when I did play I really liked how Alex worked, but in 3S I don't really get the same feeling. I play Yang/Q instead.
Henry Harris
I'm almost the same. I enjoy big body characters, but they need to have some unnatural way of closing gaps like T Hawk or Tager.
Are you me? Because I did the same thing when I first started playing 3rd Strike but I'd say due to TvC is why I like him so much to use him in that game now as well as SFV.
No need to be this assblasted I mentioned your waifu, waifufags are annoying retards who are often too pathetic to put real effort into anything is all I meant.
Jason Lewis
>WAAAAAAAAH PEOPLE ARE HAVING FUN IN A WAY I DON'T LIKE!
Sebastian King
Any feeling about Battle for the Grid in this thread? I feel like the dedicated threads are more PR fans than fighting game players (which is fine), so I figured I'd ask here. I think the systems look really nice, but I haven't watched the most recent stream that apparently breaks down the Megazord Ultra system.
>wholesome memories I met my current best friend at a MVC2 cabinet at my College. I go to the cab after classes on my first day, I go to play with the dude who was already playing, and I said to him "hey, aren't you in my class?" and it went from there. I still hang with the dude like a decade later.
Aside from that, my favourite memories would be being poor and playing 3s and KOF with GGPO/supercade client on PC. I spent many nights playing randos from South America and getting whooped. I also have some fond memories of playing GGPO games against tripfags on vg/fgg. Most of those tripfags don't post anymore, makes me sad.
Least favourite memories would include playing fighting games with my brother. My brother liked to get drunk and rage-out while playing fighters. I remember one time I was playing SF4 with him at 4am, both of us playing our main-chickens (him Honda, me Chun) have having a fierce set, and he started screaming about some dumb bullshit (he was still winning, but he wasn't winning "the way he wanted"), and my mom in the next room (who had work the next day) had to come and tell him to shut up.
Mason Diaz
As awful as /fgg/ is and was, I do miss the occasional UMvC3 lobbies I would have. What's worse is that I leveled up shortly after those stopped happening for me, mostly by just saying fuck it and picking up Sentinel to compliment my Hulk/Dormammu shell.
I always liked fighting game OSTs because the conditions they must meet make them sound very unique. Lately though i've tired of all these fucking WUB WUBs, fuck, even DMC5 fell for that shit.
It doesn't look terrible, but I'm far from impressed. It still looks like it is better designed than DBFZ and more fun than SFV, so that's something for it being a studio with no experience and only Justin Wong to guide them. The mechanics seem serviceable, the pace is fast, and there could be some interesting tech hidden in there. The characters are hideous though, and the hitstop is awkwardly high. I do not like Power Rangers at all and I'm not a huge fan of tag fighters either, so I don't think I'm going to try it.
My fav fighting game OSTs are GGX2#R, GGX2#R (Korean edition) and Killer instinct.
>no experience and only Justin Wong to guide them Apparently Wong's involvement isn't as big as we thought. Cl0ckwerk and Shady K are designing the systems. The hitstop in the first trailer was toned down a lot compared to later ones like the one I posted, although it's still on the higher side. As somebody that's put 1000+ hours into UMvC3's Training Mode alone (and has close to 200 in DBFZ's) I'll probably get my money's worth just labbing it.
>Both GGXX#R OSTs and based Mick Gordon KI Nice music taste, although I really enjoy Xrd's vocal themes and a couple of the character themes like Leo & Johnny's.
most are not that hard, yuzu/seth/vatista are the ones you should avoid when you start

Is SF5 shite or what? Heard it’s just about knockdowns and zero footsies. Worth getting for someone who hasn’t played a Street Fighter game since 2012 SF4? How’s online?
Aiden White
I wish there was one for Super Sentai or Kamen Rider.
Ayden Powell
jus play sf4 if you want a street fighter imo.
or third strike.
Isaiah Stewart
The best and most succinct argument against SFV I've ever seen is "Everybody's best poke is also their best combo starter".
Henry Foster
SFV is legit an awful game
Carson Morales
My take on it is this: The design of the game doesn't have that many flaws, only the grabs not being quite well designed and kind of a 50/50 in some situations, knockdown being the most prominent. It was the case in 4 too but then there was an OS. I don't know if people have found an OS for 5 since I'm not up to date on that game. The real flaw is that the design is too strict, making it so you have very little freedom. You have to play that game by the book. This makes the game boring and dull in a very short time. All the characters are meant to be played in a very specific way. Additionally, walk speeds are obnoxiously low. If you are really into SF and hate the more "anime" games you may like it, but you won't like it as much as the previous ones, most likely. As for the online, I did play for a bit like a month ago and I found it horrible. The "rollback" netcode it uses doesn't seem to me like rollback but rather rollforward. When there's a delay or packet loss during, say, a jump, the game won't go back to the point where the input was lost and start the jump from the beginning but rather spawn the opponent directly on the verge of the jump. I'd recommend you either try finding people for USF4 or go for SF3 in Fightcade/30th Anniversary Collection.
Its a technically well made game, but damn does it feel like work learning the combos, resets and getting around the infinite system. Not to mention rundown and resets are not my style.
Anthony Taylor
Just be like me and play solo Band.
Joseph Smith
I miss Primal Rage.
Owen Cox
Figured youd miss Darkstalkers.
Chase Wright
I'm the opposite. I can't click with his SFV style at all, 3S is only where he seems to shine for me.
Parker Rodriguez
Don't know or give a shit about Granblue Fantasy but damn, this looks sick.
I'm burned out. I feel no motivation to even pick up the controller anymore when I used to practice all day. I don't even want to play with people online anymore. Maybe if I had a willing rival to play with in real life, but I'm so unfriendly and depressing that it'll never happen. Is there really a point to fighting day in and out without anybody to measure up to? I guess that mindset is what got me so down in the first place. Do I just not feel a need to fight anymore? My entire life has been fighting, I guess I'm just tired of how lonesome a path has been carved for me.
I remember randomly stumbling across this image along the one with Filia on DeviantArt and thinking these characters look cool as fuck and I'd love to play a video game with them in it. Then about a year later I find out that it is game and was coming out soon on console, though I only got to play it once the PC endless beta was given away as a preorder bonus.
whats up faggots. I just ordered a razer panthera from amazon yesterday and plan on getting a korean crown stick to put in it. What custom art work should i put on it?
>Bass Nice. >No brown luchadora Not nice. I'll probably download it. It has a Training mode right?
Levi Young
Rush down pressure characters are always fun. I do like to switch it up with some fast grapples though
Colton Evans
I assume it does, someone said you can play with the other characters in that mode too but i can't confirm any of this. Probably won't have any of the single player content besides training.
It's a better free roster than 5 which was the 4 ninjas, this is more varied.
that face in OP looks like the spicy keychain picture
Camden Nelson
>Terry, why would you give me the ol' Spicy Knuckle? No, I am NOT okay! Nobody is okay after the Spicy Knuckle!
Jace Sanders
Uni
Camden Price
There isn't one sadly unless you count the inverse of Dragonball.
All fighting game adaptations to anime have been done poorly.
Bentley Stewart
wrong answer faggot
Wyatt Peterson
Alright then, the Fatal Fury OVA was okay but that's all I'll give ya.
Colton Peterson
that is a good answer also, voltage fighter gowcaizer
im lying
Brody Ortiz
Looks fucking retarded. Power Ranger fags are Sonic levels of autistic.
Christian Hill
>Sanic levels of autism. Super Sentai lovers are spandex loving autist but it'll be discrediting if you compare to the goldmine of autism Sanic has.
Justin Cooper
Nah. PR fags and Sentai fags are different kinds of autistic. PR fags are all fat old fucks trying to hide the fact that they're old and nobody likes the 90s anymore as they jack off to Jason David Frank.
Connor James
Except most PR fans I've seen don't like that the game has two characters that are Tommy. Everybody would prefer a potential Dino Thunder rep be White rather than Black so we can avoid 3Tommy.
