I like Serious Sam.
Planet Badass isn't looking good though.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA yourself!
DOUBLE THE GUN
This is getting serious
>Planet Badass isn't looking good though.
You've seen fuckall of it.
The pre-alpha (which actually WAS pre-alpha instead of this "it's as good as finished but we still can't decide on the look of the HUD" pre-alpha bullshit people are too accustomed to these days) is basically nothing more than a tech demo using stand-in assets and won't even be in the finished game.
It was never meant to be shown outside of their presentation that you even had to make an appointment for to see it, hence why none of the larger news sites ever posted any of their own footage of it and the site that did the leak was some small French site or something like that.
SC > FC >>>>>>> 2 >>>>>> 3
prove me wrong
I hope we get to her more about SS4 at E3 this year.
I still don't like what I saw, and I say that because I'm having a hard time believing they can make such radical changes so quickly.
3 has the excuse that it started as DOOM 2016, but Croteam got turned down mud development so they had to reuse a lot of assets, animations etc.
>putting 2 over 3
>putting 2 over ANYTHING
Based retard. Sam 2 was a fucking slog with shitty enemies, horrible art direction, and terrible netcode that makes any kind of multiplayer unplayable.
I don't have to. 3 is way better than 2, and you'd have to be a complete madman to think otherwise.
>I'm having a hard time believing they can make such radical changes so quickly.
You have no idea what those guys can do in a short time once they actually got their shit together.
The right images are from Talos Principle's finished version, the left from one month before release.
Meanwhile, TTP's pre-alpha/prototype looked like THIS.
I think Serious Sam 2 was decent, but what were they smoking?
I used to think this but then tried replaying 2 this week.
The guns don't even have kickback animations and feel like the bullets just spawn in front of you its fucking horrible
Xbox-bucks since SS2 was the sequel to the console version of the Encounter games that featured toon-Sam, silly cutscenes, a bunch of different mechanics and levels that got chopped up into shorter segments.
The whole artstyle change between Serious Sam fe&se and Serious Sam 2 is so damn bizarre. Like the first game never were super serious, but S2 went so overboard with the cartoony look.
First encounter? That one is my favorite
The weapon designs were awful, too.
Fucking shotgun designed by Nerf and dual Uzis instead of the based Tommy Gun? Get the fuck out.
Based and AAAAAAAAAAAAApilled
DoubleD XXL>Bogus Detour=I Hate Running Backwards>>>>>Kamikaze Attack>a game that at least works properly>Random Encounter
>Like the first game never were super serious
I remember the fight against Kukulukan was awesome.
sometimes it feels like it never ends man.
you think youve killed the last of them but then you just hear that scream coming from every angel
>tfw Croat
>never played SS
I don't get it's just a painkiller ripoff with a le wacky Dick Kickem stand-in
TFE > 3 > TSE > 2
What is the worst/most annoying enemy? Which enemy make you the most anxious? Kamikazes, kleers or arachnoids?
I'm not fond of the helicopters or witches in 3, but thankfully they only appear a handful of times and mods make them palatable
unmodded Witchbrides
fuck off, second one is the worst in absolutely everything (still a good game, but definitely no better than a third one)
you just posted the worst part of both FE and SE
Some more fun: this is what The Guardian of Time once looked like.
The Sirian complex below the ruins.
Very early version of one of the Cairo levels.
unused ruins assets
and the original Ugh Zan model from the first game
>great series with the exception of 2
>modding scene is one of the worst I've ever seen
i thought the tentacle-infested helicopters and, to a degree, witches was the best new thing they could bring to the formula. Granted, they require to look for a place to hide from their massive aiming angle, but they kept the pace up.
these fuckers know how to build efficient graphics engine. they should try to sell it.
They actually did.
What came out of it was the reason they don't anymore.
Croteam also released the source code for Serious Engine 1 a while ago.
>What came out of it was the reason they don't anymore.
What came out of it?

It was also licensed for some space combat simulator that in the end switched to a different one.
>10 years of SSHD
>Not a single good custom campaign
Oh yeah and that space sim?
It was Universal Combat by no other than Derek Smart.
>Nitro Family
That's a game I haven't heard of in a long time. Decades ago I played it at my friend house. It always seems to me like a game in the same vein as Serious Sam. Wonder if it's worth cecking out.
>sorry bro this is KLEERly too SERIOUS for you
I'd be more okay with the witches if they couldn't become invulnerable
I always thought the minigun was his leg on the cover there.
I disagree, the bouncy rooms are worse.
I can't beat the tutorial on serious in the first one because of those screaming bomber fuckers.
bouncy rooms, at least, provide a room for error and a breather. The corridor after pit, especially on higher difficulties, will pour and pour everything relentlessly, regardless whether you can keep up the ratio of frags/spawns above 1. After you getting overwhelmed, it's effectively game over - you can't do shit, since there's no place to fall back or step away to outmanoeuvre the horde in such narrow corridor.
Kleers and kamikazes are irritating, but the arachnoids are the only ones which are basically guaranteed to do damage. Depends on where they spawn, obviously, but if you're in an open yard and 4 of them spawn surrounding you, there's just not a lot you can do. At least the others you can dodge a lot of the time.
still don't know how I got past that part
I'm preety sure I had to cheese it
I rocket jumped onto the roof of a nearby building and just shot them from saftey
So what is up with the ancient egypt theme in the first game? It doesn't fit at all with the look of Sam and the aliens. Did they just had a scrap egypt game laying around?
