Banished because its comfy

Factorio. Others tend to be either rehashes of 15 year old games or so small games that don't have that much content or depth

I agree but it lacks content to keep playing. It's a shame.

I really like factorio, but I hate the art style. It's not even a graphics thing, everythign is just puke colored.

i bought dawn of man but still haven't played it.

true, I usually quit when my fps drop and start again
it could really use AI enemies and military + technology researching etc

Why can't we have RCT4? just pick up where 3 left off, inject some 2 into it. Give me cooperative multiplayer too.

>New Zoo Tycoon 2-like game fucking never

It hurts bros.

Watered down console trash doesn’t count.

Been playing some Zoo Tycoon recently. I'm kinda limited by my autism though cause I always try to maximize guest happiness and shit, but that limits your creativity by quite a lot.

Play Parkitect or Planet Coaster.

That's by design, it's supposed to have a very rugged industrial look. You can always just increase saturation and stuff.

I find Zoo Tycoon 2 is more flexible in that regard

You should try kingdoms and castles. It's like banished with basic defense combat. Art style isn't as good but you stop caring once you're playing. It does last about the same time as a banished play, but devs are still adding features.

Attached: kc.jpg (1920x1080, 2.76M)

I have a feeling that despite looking like this the game doesn't even run well.

it runs run well, probably better than banished

I only got to play the Tropico 6 free beta for a little while, but it was a lot of fun and I'm thinking about preordering it to get back in there. Seems like they added a lot to 4+5

Yeah definitely. There is just some really retarded shit in ZT, like guests not getting as much happiness from marine animals for some reason, dolphin shows and shit actually resulting in LESS guest happiness, and guests only liking certain animals. Why would I ever want to use animals with 5 attractiveness if I could use animals with 70 attractiveness instead? Or why would I ever use food courts if I could use restaurants that fullfil all of the guests needs at once without having to deal with trashcans (which guests don't like seeing for some reason)?

Played Dawn of Man. It's good, but it gets old fast same problem as Banished.
Currently waiting for Tropico 6 and Anno 1800. Also this one: store.steampowered.com/app/784150/Workers__Resources_Soviet_Republic/

Anyone tried Dragon's Hangover? Steam reviews make it sound like a buggy mess, but I can't tell how much of that is overreaction.

Factorio is just Railroad Tycoon 2 with extreme amounts of autism and crack. Prove me wrong.

Parkitect is bretty good.

I've been starved for new Tycoon/City Buildan games. Wouldn't mind something along the lines of Recettear though.

Railway Empire. Got it for 15€ when it was on sale. It's pretty good.

How do I get good at RCT2? How do I have fun? How do I make parks that look good?

Currently parkitect, prison architect and foundation. All scratch various itches. Before that I played cities Skylines and transport fever again. Anno 1800 beta was also pretty comfy but not so hyped about playing on different maps at the same time..

Right now I'm also playing farming simulator which isn't an rts tycoon game but still feels similar to me. It would be nice as an rts for sure. Are there any farm building games other than the mobile shit?

The two basic rules of coaster design are:
1) no lift chains outside of a single lift hill
and
2) BANK YOUR TURNS

How do I make money

>2) BANK YOUR TURNS
What does that mean?

Waiting for pigsim to drop in a few hours.

>rct2 color bug
JUST

This, otherwise you'll have high intensity rating and low excitement which will turn off people. Also vomit.

Build roads. A good road network is your friend.

I just built a new computer and now I don't know what to play

Anyone ITT played Parkitect?

Is it any good?

I still think the game sounds too good to be true going by its trailer alone

>Had such high hopes for Jurassic World Evolution
>Its gonna be the new JPOG!
>released its absolutely barebones
>alright well patches and more content will fix it
>content is anemic, locked behind a paywall, gives nothing the community has wanted
>multiple instances of the devs outright lying and eventually being called out for it
>content drought for months with "we're working on something we swear :^)"
>Frontier community managers start getting hostile with the community
>community gets tired of their shit and have basically wrote the game off and left it

Why, you could have been the chosen one, Frontier you had such a great track record and you had so much experience. Why did you do this?

Attached: 20180922110311_1.jpg (1680x1050, 546K)

what a shame

i bet universal had something to do with it

While there is no doubt that JWE was massively rushed and kicked out of the door half-fined to tie in neatly into the movie release, the very poor post-release support cannot be blamed on Universal's greed or incompetence.

First time I heard about it but it looks like classic RTC with some stuff added. Pretty neat.

>play cities skylines
>see entire highway blocked
>wtf.jpg
>turned out the highway loop with part of other road so people there are stuck for good

Attached: 1510374226111.jpg (640x600, 167K)

They definetly made them shit it out at Fallen Kingdoms release, but post launch support has been absolutely garbage, I mean we don't even have terrain tools other then grassland, forest, water. There isnt even a depth for water either to create moats or water features, theres no park objects like fountains, dinosaur skeletons, lights, benches, trashcans, there are no park workers or park works facilities like maintence, cleaners, the dinosaur skins are absolutely awful nothing from the films, not even something original that looks good its just paint slapped against a dinosaur. The Devs outright lied about not being able to edit skins or add new skins or resize dinosaurs until dataminers called them out and they said oh well yeah we sort of can do it. They then released an absolute shit new skin pattern for a dinosaur no one really cared about as part of a promotion.

Attached: 20180922110303_1.jpg (1680x1050, 443K)

just play dawn of man. long-term it suffers the same problems as banished (once you're comfortable with the mechanics and have played for 10-12 hours you've seen everything, there really isn't much to do with a stable town other than slowly add more houses and crops) but it's basically what you just posted there

I agree, frontier fucked up but fuck me why would you even take on a project like this

Are there any town/city builders set in the old west? I want to build some saloons for cowboys to hang out in.

have you played other recent railroad sims (transport fever, mashinky)? how does it compare?

there's called depraved. seems neat, might be in early access hell though. haven't tried it personally

Age of Empires III is the closest, and that isn't a city builder

I had a feeling it wasn't going to be good after playing Planet Coaster. Last time I played it the only good thing about it was building a park with infinite money.

They were the most experienced and probably best devs for a jurassic world tycoon game I mean planet coaster is insanely detailed, the crazy fucking thing is, theres a dude who made a jurassic park in planet coaster with static dinosaur statues that is so much better then the actual fucking game. Heres some other shit thats awful
>fences dont matter, only the dinosaurs comfort, conrete electrified fences the last upgrade dont no sell small carnivors like raptors or small herbivores, a gallimimus if its pissed enough will fucking knock down a 14 foot electrified concrete wall and it doesnt even detract their health
>dinosaurs comfort is a bubble around it and not the pen itself
>security option is literally just a helicopter and theres no lethal option
>guest dont have likes or dislikes, you cant interact with them in anyway
>no building skin options or paint tool for custom painted buildings or original JP style buildings which is odd since they included an original JP skin for your ranger jeep
>dinosaurs cannot attack ranger jeeps
>only 3 attraction buildings, a viewing platform, a viewing tower, and a gryosphere ride
>no ability to create raised platforms
>maps are fucking insanely small making your park cramped as hell
>no ride attractions, no underground tunnel viewers no balloon tours.
>no bridges

I could go on. It honestly feels like the game was designed for phones or ipads

Attached: 20180922110334_1.jpg (1680x1050, 478K)

Haven't hit a tycoon or city builder I liked. Kingdom builders are even worse.
Maybe the genre's just not for me.

Now to find out if can I run a brothel empire with Jewish prostitutes from Eastern Europe like Wyatt Earp.

Theres always the classics man, Zoo Tycoon and its expansions are still the premiere fucking Tycoon game. I could never get into city building games because theres nothing else to do but build a city/town.

Start with SimCity 2000 or Civ2.

Can you offer a quick rundown on what it's like?

Is RCT the most timeless looking game?

>the closest we ever got was a DLC for fucking Simcity 2013

>no lift chains outside of a single lift hill
Explain the logic of this one to me.

The coaster coming to a stop to trundle up a hill again makes it way longer than it needs to be

Ever play Anno 2070?

Why don't more ganes tell you to kys when you lose like the classics? Loved this as a kid:

does that kind of tower layout work for you? I've taken to putting them in clusters of 6-8 because they're so fragile and the AI seems to target them

Never really got into Zoo Tycoon. I did try to get into Rollercoaster Tycoon but it didn't quite pan out for me. I was too angry with the customers.
SimCity was in my childhood. I had more fun just blowing up the city with natural disasters, aliens, or Godzilla. As for Civ that's more exploration/war than city builder. You build cities but you don't build within cities.

Real coasters usually don't have more than one lift hill, and don't have lift chains anywhere outside of lift hills. You can do it with no ill gameplay effects, but expect to get laughed out the room if you show one of your coasters in public.

yeah towers suck, I just rebuild them after every attack

I didn't have as much time to play as I wanted, but the main things I noticed in comparison to Tropico 4 were a wider variety of buildings (tanneries to make leather from your cattle seemed cool), multiple different islands in one archipelago that you can connect with bridges and/or boats, research points to unlock new buildings/edicts, customizable/movable palace, and a constitution system that lets you change basic things about your island (who can vote, freedoms, etc.) every few years. And I'm sure I didn't even get into everything the beta had.

Tropico 4 was my favorite and I never got much into Tropico 5 because I thought it was kind of a sidegrade, but 6 seemed like a fair step up to me.

>ride 1 still hasn't been fixed! organize your mechanics better
>mechanic is walking back and forth two feet away from the ride
I love RCT2 but the ai path finding is retarded

>Recettear
There's a few freebie ones that I know of. Faraway Story for example.

idk, I think they're great and they're borderline essential, more important than walls, I need them to minimize losses when there's 30 guys with steel weapons and compound bows or whatever. I just find that concentrating them so that a whole bunch can fire at the enemy group works better

It's absolutely fucking great, despite running like ass on older machines

I really like it. the flexibility it gives you with decoration objects is great.

Someone post the multi-level park that's filled with guests and attractions

Thanks for the help. I might pick it up next sale

I haven't tried mashinsky but it looks good.
I tried transport fever, and while it has a bigger scale, and more vehicle types, it's not as good as far as trains go.
You cant make complex rail networks in it so I dropped it.

Oops in the original he actually kills himself on game over
youtube.com/watch?v=fUz7uOpVrG4

Factorio is my kind of autism because everything is about efficiency and efficient factories always end up looking aesthetic. I cant handle games where half the 'fun' is making your tycoon look pretty. Doubly so when making things look pretty costs money and has no impact on actual metrics.

>You cant make complex rail networks in it
dunno what you mean, maybe you're thinking of train fever, complex rain networks is one of transport fever's main features. anyway thanks, I'll take that to mean that railway empire does a good job of it.
mashinky is neat but it feels much more like a boardgame than a railway sim. weirdly small-scale, most deliveries give you "tokens" rather than money which you can spend on locomotives, station upgrades, etc. similar to TTD otherwise though, pretty good game

Sprites should never have died. Look how amazing these old games looked

RTC is the comfiest game of all time

>Build City
>finally starts growing
>immediately tear it down thinking I can do even better
>Never actually get anywhere because i'm a perfectionist

Attached: aint laughin.png (330x334, 203K)

Isometric view has aged like ass for some games though. In RCT, very easily tall structures or terrain can block your view where as a 3D camera can easily bypass this.

What is good about sprites compared to 3D models?

Stronghold Crusader is max comfy
