Isn't it nice how if you play as Dante or Nero, you press the strike button when you're right at them, you generally hit? Not with V. First, I need to summon Shadow and then I can finally try to hit. And what's super fun is when I'm locked onto an enemy I want to attack and Shadow is doing whatever other bullshit while I'm trying to hit what I want to.
But what's this? I strike with the panther and he misses for no other reason than just attacking the wrong way? Oh. Okay. Or how about those times where I try to reach up to a hanging red orb container with my shitty bird just to have a hard time hitting the fucking spot because for whatever reason, I can't reach it.
And then there's the point where I'm supposed to use my whacking cane to finish off an enemy. I really love it when I can lock on to one target and finish them off, lock on to the next one to finish off and V is instead just waving his cane around attacking air.
And then you press Nightmare and immediately get an S rank.
I loved playing as V for the differentiation but I sure as hell hate replaying missions on higher difficulties. Feels like a chore, especially when dodging causes your familiars to disappear.
Connor Rogers
but he's fun
Jackson Thompson
just summon nightmare and do literally anything for a free SSS rank
James Ward
The panther is not very responsive and there aren’t many options to position it in the right range. Also since you have to dodge attacks for the shadows and V Taking your dodge away when one of them dies seems very punishing
Evan Nguyen
>First, I need to summon Shadow and then I can finally try to hit. Not sure what your complaint is here? "HURR RHURR WHY DOEZ DA SUMMUN CHARACTER HAEV TO SUMMUN TINGS" >But what's this? I strike with the panther and he misses for no other reason than just attacking the wrong way? Both Shadow & Griffon's dodges put them right next to V and make re-positioning them a thousand times easier, but yes trying to have Shadow switch from one enemy to the other across the map will cause him to miss. Who knew? >Or how about those times where I try to reach up to a hanging red orb container with my shitty bird just to have a hard time hitting the fucking spot because for whatever reason ...Or you could just use griffon to double jump up there at hit it yourself with the cane >I really love it when I can lock on to one target and finish them off, lock on to the next one to finish off and V is instead just waving his cane around attacking air. The warp finishers from enemy-to-enemy are timing based, which I'll concede is the only dumb part of his mechanics, but I think it's partially Gambit as a dodge function as well.
tl;dr, you're shit, get good
Jack Robinson
>Nightmare I believe you mean reskin Yellow Devil
Jaxon Smith
You're not very good at defending this. And yes, I would use the griffon to "double-jump". It's like you read what I wrote but didn't. You responded to me explaining that I tried using a certain way of doing something with "... Or you could just do what you were doing."
V gameplay would be twice better if demons were just automatically summoned on whatever target you've got actively selected, instead of some drawn out animation. There should also be more clarification and consistency on their teleportation for certain moves.
Jayden Stewart
The best way to play as V is to just spam shadow and griffon, use DT as often as possible, avoid attacks, and taunt whenever I’m in a safe location.
It sounds easy but it’s actually really demanding that you pay attention to everything happening around you. And don’t forget to do the kill strikes, of course.
Nolan Hall
If I play this game the first choice will be V, he looks fun compared to boring Dante who's the same as always and the other guy, the DMC4 Dante.
Leo Gutierrez
>Being shit with V jesus christ lmao
Ethan Ortiz
>V is garbage If the fool would persist in his folly he would become wise.
Nicholas Lopez
Git Fucking Good You're not even past devil hunter are you
Adrian Williams
He's a ton of fun. What i'm seeing from these threads is actually a straight split. OP from his post is clearly having problems adapting to and controlling V. He doesn't like him.
Basically people either "get" V or don't. If you don't, he's terribly unfun. If you do, you're pressing L1 while reading poetry and styling and watching the SSS pour in. V is great and shows you can still be creative within the action genre. He just needs Nightmare tones down and a dlc special weapon or 2 for another layer of technicality.
Oliver Adams
Well I disagree, but what do you think of him as a character and his impact on the story?
Kevin Cook
Huh, another case of "LEARN TO PLAY THE GAME YOU STUPID FUCK".
my man gets S ranks for free by just fat thumbing 3 buttons at the same time get lazy you retard
Ian Cook
>The warp finishers from enemy-to-enemy are timing based Is there any visual indication for this? I've managed to maybe string 2 kills together before having to reset V's positioning.
Jaxson Young
there's a circle that ticks down on enemies it's up for like 30 seconds though
Jace Lewis
I don't mean the red circle showing you they're in a stunned state, but you're saying there's an additional circle that shows you when you can chain finishers?
Damn we really need some V combo videos to show fools how it's done, good old MADs.
Julian Sanders
literellly saying v is too easy waaahwaaaaah now v is too hard waaahwaaaaah learn to use the dodge buttons for repositioning use devil trigger on shadow and griffon it deals alot more damage know when to use nightmare he gives invincibility frames when summoned and revives pets alsomlearn to use shadow and griffon at the same time
Levi Green
>shitters still whine about V >despite his ridiculous aoe damage output >despite the fact both his summons have gap closers and fantastic lockdown options >despite the DT autopilot mechanic that still allows you to manually control them while empowering the shit out of their damage output >despite being manually able to get summons out of danger via dodging >despite Nightmare being present on the screen for at least 90% of battle
Chase Anderson
And also get in the fray, don't be standing 30miles away from the fight. If you're right in there then dodging never takes your pets away from the action and you're always next by to finish off enemies. All in all OP, strive to become better at the game.
Michael Reyes
You're doing it wrong. I found V to be a completely broken. I'm always at SSS rank.
Caleb Miller
this
Kevin Brooks
>the first choice will be V Too bad, you don't get to choose who you play.
Lincoln Taylor
>I'm always at SSS rank. Same, but I felt like it was easier to get SSS with him. Not because I was doing better than I was with Nero/Dante, but it felt like the score just went up more quickly.
Levi Davis
>he doesn't master the battlefied while simultaneously reading a poem and directing an orchestra of destruction right in front of him I pity you, you poor thing
He's no bad, but he is significantly less fun to play than the other two characters.
Angel Williams
It’s in his skill list. You literally just have to press the button as soon as the stab happens
Isaac Anderson
You got more stuff going on
Jayden Cook
>lock on to one target and finish them off, lock on to the next one to finish off and V is instead just waving his cane around attacking air. I do hate that shit. You should always be able to teleport-kill to any enemy who is stunned and within-range without any timing shenanigans. You already basically depleted their HP to zero and they'd be dead if you were Nero or Dante. Do you have to step on the floor to reset it so you can do it again, or does gliding with griffon work too?
So to reset Shadow so he's in range of a new and distant enemy, you just need to dodge so he's near you and then tell him to attack again? Or is it better to teleport V towards the new enemy and then dodge to get Shadow near you and THEN tell him to attack?
Kayden Flores
V is unironically one of the best additions to the series. He fits the tone more than Nero tbqh.
Jaxson Butler
the one thing I don't like about him is how homoerotic his cutscenes feel, at least for the first half of the game when he's all mysterious and new. He is always mouthbreathing in them too, like wide open gaping mouth
Kevin Ross
Plus his and Dante's battle themes feel like they suit the game more than Nero's. It's a good contrast to the always joking Dante and Dante-lite. He's a bit over the top, but everything in DMC is.
Ryder Powell
Anyone find a way to play as Nero/Dante in V's first level?
They did this for the chicks. Remember that intro long body shot of Lady all covered in white goo? What you feel for V's heavy breathing and bedroom eyes is exactly what chicks feel like when they see Lady drop her towel and stand there naked. Bitch about it all you like I'm all for Japan's take on equality. They don't just axe out the eye candy, they instead add some for the girls too. Beats having butch chick characters with rectangle figures. I was ready to hate V, but his combat was a fucking blast, besides, we'll never see him ever again.
Gabriel Hill
>how homoerotic his cutscenes feel that's the best part though
I had that same problem until I realized I could just use the bird to shoot the shit.
Luis Collins
he reminds me of some fantasy anime Yea Forums talked me into watching but which was so painfully homoerotic(and also just really bad) with everyone wearing the lowest cut pants physically possible without getting arrested for pubic indecency and constant camera focus on their crotches
what I mean is, yeah, he's gay as shit
Xavier Price
>The warp finishers from enemy-to-enemy are timing based, which I'll concede is the only dumb part of his mechanics Oh hell, the only part of his mechanics that requires timing or dexterity is the part that a V player thinks is shit?
That's such a surprising revelation to me.
Hunter Nelson
>the DT autopilot mechanic that still allows you to manually control them It actually doesn't. They will attack on their own and ignore your commands.
Easton Moore
>especially when dodging causes your familiars to disappear. nigga just jump
Noah Morgan
You can taunt without interrupting your attacks and it's easier to hit multiple enemies at once.
Aiden Jackson
Git gud scrub
Luke Perez
It's kinda hard to get used to him, I agree. On initial playthrough I hated him so much I literally felt buyers remorse. He didn't felt like DMC character, I hated all his levels, it was a chore to play him. But on SoS after leveling up summons things finally clicked with me. It is kinda fun to wreck the shit out of demons while you just standing there and taunting. And his taunts are amazing. On DMD he became less braindead since harder enemies actually can kill your summons so you better keep Nightmare for recharge them. But I still do find some of his inputs inconsistent, mainly the bird's laser attack. For whatever reason I can't pull this shit out while doing same input with Shadow works just fine. I'm pressing both buttons after back-forward and I get only one attack. It's weird and infuriating sometimes. Overall, I think he's fun. A different type of crazy, more like stylish crowd control and resource management. Still too easy to SSS but can do some impressive stuff.
Tyler Hall
V's character is generally somewhat boring to me and his effeminate emo boy design feels like it popped out of a 2007 Myspace profile.
He's fun to play as when you get the hang of him, though. Use your DT and use it often, whether it's to summon Nightmare or to power up Griffon and Shadow. You'll be getting S-SSS combos like nothing if you abuse everything he can do.
