1. He was dying, stabbing himself with the Yamato and separating his human and demon side was a last resort. 2. He had no idea that his pure demon side would be a mindless monster, and his consciousness and memories would be in his human side. He thought he would just become a pure demon like Sparda. 3. V genuinely did want to stop Urizen, he wants to kick Dante's ass yes, but V never wanted other people to get hurt. 4. When Vergil is reborn he has grown as a person thanks to V, Urizen gets defeated and Vergil realizes that his humanity is important to him.
You forgot one thing. The Qliphoth was an event in and of itself, Vergil was not the one who started its growth. It punching a hole from hell to earth is how Vergil got above ground in the first place and made the last ditch attempt at surviving before his body fell apart. Urizen simply got on the throne first to benefit from the tree doing its mass genocide.

That's not totally accurate. The qlipoth is a thing by itself true, but it was Urizen using Yamato that let it loose on the human world so that it would collect human blood and produce a fruit, hence why it appears in Red Grave.
V was genuinely trying to stop Urizen out of responsibility for what happened, and after he reforms into Vergil he isn't controlling the tree at all he just wants his rematch with Dante, but he is at least partially responsible for letting Urizen loose on the world.

I got that demons were racing towards the fruit from the goliath dialogue but the whole notion kind of disappeared from the rest of the game afterwards so I didn't understand if the whole thing was vergil's doing with demons jumping on the ride, or the tree's thing and everybody jumping on the ride vergil included.

It's exactly like playing Dante in DMC4. I actually felt fairly at home with Dante. I only keep two guns and two melee wepaons on him though.
The key to Dante for newfriends has been mentioned a couple of times but I think it's worth mentioning: Pick a style as your main style and stick with it until you need to utilize another style, and then switch back. I almost always stay on Swordmaster, and for some bossfights or some encounters I'll switch to trickster. Once I got both Kalina Anns, I started to mix Gunslinger into my styles so I could do the double rocket volley. I don't use trickster because I suck at concentrative guarding.
For the people who don't have them so they don't have to download models and animations for weapons they don't have and to prevent people from just hacking them into the game for free.

Same thing here. You feel like you dropped all your spaghetti because there's so much coming at you at once. Not only do you suddenly have style switching and new weapons, they also introduce like four new enemies on that chapter. It's one of the few pacing issues in the game.
Just keep at it, it'll start to feel better. I still haven't had a moment where I feel quite as good as playing as Nero but it's a lot better now. Also, some changes to your main weapon will make it feel better as well and make it so you don't feel as reliant on Swordmaster.

Think of it like someone you've partnered with and look up to telling you you're useless when the chips are down. He was hurt by it because he thought Dante thought of him as an equal or at least an asset and in the heat of the moment, to try and get Nero out of there, he said something that made Nero feel powerless.
Then he goes on to possibly die and Nero has no idea if he'll ever get to prove himself to Dante and Dante couldn't figure out how to tell him why he said what he did.

He didnt really know for sure, you see him coming to terms with it throughout the fights. This was something the game really got right, almost none of the enemies are unfun to fight. DMC4 was good mechanics buried in a bad game and a lot of that came down to enemies that were just boring or tedious to fight.
Fury is unfortunately an exception I think. Just tedious. I also don't love the enemies that become immovable when knocked back; can't remember the name at the moment.

Vergil didn't really grow in the game in my opinion. If you compare it to previous games, he did though. This is basically a happy ending for Vergil. BULLSHIT. The reason Vergil took back Yamato was to open a portal to the demon world to allow that tree to grow in the first place. It's why Dante says shit like "Your portal opening days are over", and why there's no tree when Vergil returns home and splits into V and Urizen.
I'll give Vergil the benefit of the doubt that, in his corrupt form, he's slightly retarded and can only think of gaining more power and killing Dante, but it was most definitely him that started the whole thing in the first place. V managed to look on everything with a sober mind and realize Vergil fucked up, but he knows that he sinned in the first place and wanted Dante to fix it for him. He didn't want to tell Dante that he was technically Vergil too because Dante may have just killed him then and there, but otherwise told the truth.
To me it seems more likely that Vergil restoring himself after the Urizen fight was an opportunistic thing. Then on, Vergil probably had more perspective on his wrongdoings than before, but EVEN THEN he still wanted Dante dead out of pure bitterness. Nero smacked some sense into him by the end though.
TL;DR: Vergil has always been a fucking dick, and hand-waving him genociding an entire city is like hand-waving a murder because someone was drunk at the time.
(plus if the Qliphoth is an event of itself, Mundus wouldn't still be King 2000 years after Sparda whooped him)

My point was DMC3 is the still the best but it's old now and i've beaten it how many times. I'd rather play DMC5 and i think most of us think this way. I personally enjoy the qliphoth aesthetic but that's just me as for level design they cut out the janky platforming and focused on what a beat 'em up ultimately needs, corridors and arenas. Honestly, I think this argument even taking place is the game's fault for not addressing it properly. There should have been a moment, as per the usual "what makes someone a demon/human" theme the rest of the series has, where either Dante or Nero would have to decide whether the restored Vergil/V was more V or more Urizen/demon. The reason they hint at as to why he and Dante fight at the very end is because Vergil wonders if the pain he felt at not being found by his mother made him what he was/he feels like Dante was the favourite.
I ain't beliving shit because in gematsu for instance they don't say anything about no co-op also it's been datamined on the messages about online bloody palace.

Most likely Argosax. The Qliphoth Fruit may grant demons immeasurable power, but they must also be strong enough to control that power.
Mundus and Urizen were already strong on their own and were able to harness and effectively control the power of the Fruit. Argosax I believe was originally a low ranking demon who got lucky and managed to get the fruit, but when it ate it, it couldn't control all of the power it granted him and his powers went berserk and chaotic, hence its name Argosax the Chaos.
When it assumed the form Despair Embodied, it's likely because Argosax finally figured out how to control the power of the Qliphoth, only to be killed by Dante.
Dante should have Vergil's face. I say this because I remember the little excerpt from DMC1's case booklet saying that Dante has a scary face. Vergil's face in 5 manages to look scary and tender, etc. It's very expressive. Cowie's face is too gentle and approachable, which is why I think Vergil would look weird if he had Dante's face.

There is no reason to make the game into "one big corridor, big arena, Repeat" it takes away from the experience if you just fight in the same place over and over, not to say that we already have BP for the exclusive kicking demon ass, so i dont think your point holds. DMC1 and 3 had really good levels that redwarded exploration and were interesting, DMC 5 has a really good seting as you point out but with a really poor execution that you can probably blame on the really open and empty trend in modern videogames personaly find it really disapointing, im just happy the combat wasnt nerfed in any way. If their blade doesn't flash then that means they are going to do a bait rush towards you and only then teleport to attack while if blade glows on the first strike then they will beeline it towards you. Doesn't really matter if you use Cerberus' ice age since that shit lasts long enough but timing for Balrog quick punch parry is pretty easy too. There's even enough time to do the gunslinger super bazooka laser. Not sure how tough they get during DT but i assume one hit parry is still enough for those guys since that's apparently their whole shtick, getting parried and comboed into shit.

I don't think the "never lost anything" line is in reference to any past acknowledgement, it's just a retort to Dante and saying that he's all powerful. He also says he has no memory of that house or anything that happened there, so he's lacking Vergil's motivation and has his own. I also take the line at the end about fates being switched to mean that Vergil knows he's been wrong the whole time and is basically just too prideful to admit it and is going through with the fight because it's the only way he can feel like he's finding out what's right. One way or the other, one answer will be proven by the winner. And then of course Nero provides a 3rd possibility.

I can't be the only one who tried to shoot Shadow's outer shell with Dante's guns in Mission 18 then felt stupid for it?
Also, get Royal Fork and never worry about distance or that janky teleport stab ever again, it barely costs any DT meter and it's amazing. Totally worth the 50k.
