Why won't japanese developers make any games with hand drawn animations? They've definitely got the talent for it and it obviously worked in the west with games like Cuphead, Skullgirls or Hollow Knight. Let's be honest, cel shaded animation trying to imitate the anime style looks terrible.

the animation industry in japan is fucked beyond repair so much so that fucking TRIGGER had to launch a patreon.

Sure, but I don't see how that's a problem really.

Because it was shit.

I understand WHY but I will never get shit like this:
>Going to make a game about comic book characters fighting
>"LET'S USE REALISTIC 3D MODELS!!!"
>Going to make a licensed game about a cartoon
>"LET'S USE 3D MODELS!!!"
Ugh

No, that was just pixel art.

Because imagine doing so and then your game not selling well, so now you've spent extra time and money for nothing when you could have pumped out a subpar but close enough product for much cheaper and less potential damage.

This is also why most videogames suck now.

You've never played a Vanillaware game?
