Requesting Manto using her long hair to wrap someone up with it to prevent them from playing for the other team, or just using it to help her play soccer better.
Sorry for the blogpost, I just want this off my chest. It's bothering me too much >be devoid of any idea regarding art >decided to pick up a paper & pencil to draw just to find another hobby besides playing video games >continue this up to now >for 1-2 years, I often get praised and complimented for my drawings, friends and strangers alike >because of this, this got me to thinking that I'm a good artist >in reality, I wanted good feedback more than praise and admiration >decided to take a really good look on how I do my work, trying to be unbiased as best as I could >it looks like shit >it takes at least 5 days to finish something >might end up as decent, mediocre or garbage as fuck >all because of praises and compliments and an extremely small amount of feedback I'm at the tip of the cliff Yea Forums, should I continue or just completely forget that I draw things? After realizing that all those praises and admirations made me blind and finally realizing that I draw like shit. Please, I just want some feedback and not praises, I can't stand at looking at my own work now that I know where I'm wrong
Leo Turner
real talk your art is good no matter how shit it is in reality if people are accustomed to sucking your dick. personality/popularity >>>>>>> skill
This but replace Hex with Misha and May with Tharja
Jace Sanchez
Procrastination needs to end.
I need to draw Baiken...or another character with shapely proportions with some emphasis on tiddies.
This, basically.
Look, you should always draw what you want to draw, rather than let others dictate the terms. You shouldn't beat yourself up about it though, as what you are mentioning is just part of the process. People like *your* work specifically so all you can do is use that praise to further develop and enhance your work as you naturally would, doing the things that you do.
Lucas Jackson
that's the truth. cwc is a piece of shit drawer yet his art is worshiped by /pol/ and Yea Forums. iggibomb is the new borvar of these threads despite being one the shittest drawfag this place has ever had. improving your art is a personal goal. never draw for you's or likes on social media if you give a shit about improving.
Smell is usually visually shown through something like a fog, because that's how you visualize gases, and we imagine smells as gaseous. I'm no footfag, but it's the same with some horror scenes (all cosmic horrors stink). The easiest to understand shorthand are very, very wavy and uneven lines coming from the smelling object, but that looks bad if you don't use heavy outlines otherwise. Consistency always comes first.

>draw what you want to draw, rather than let others dictate the terms Does that mean /ic/ isn' that good on pointing out flaws? I just wanna get good while at the same time, delivering content that's nice to look at. >People like *your* work specifically so all you can do is use that praise to further develop and enhance your work as you naturally would, doing the things that you do. I literally can't appreciate praises, it makes me convinced that I'm a good artist, but I'm not. >never draw for you's or likes on social media if you give a shit about improving. This is what I wanted to hear, I simply wanted to be feedback'd on. I find it more effective than being praised
Dominic Gonzalez
Any progress?
Nicholas James
Get some artist/illustrator friends or acquaintances- Friends who don't draw themselves reach their upper limit for critique soon. They'll make you feel as if you were a god when you're really a motivated beginner. Drawing takes a fuckton of practice to really get somewhere that can be objectively called alright or good. Always remember that drawing is some people's profession though, so you shouldn't as a hobbyist try to compare yourself to people who went to school for it for years.
Jace Baker
Requesting princess Elise pouting with the force of a nuclear blast
If you want to sell commissions for 20 dollars a piece this is correct If you want an actual job paying 200+ per piece as a concept artist or something similar this is incorrect and terrible advice
David Foster
Requesting some Jill Valentine ryona. Her being tied up and with a fearful look on her face while she bleeds out to death from being stabbed.
>>all because of praises and compliments and an extremely small amount of feedback sure feedback/criticism would help a lot but to me this just sounds like you didnt weight your work yourself. dont blame others for your own shortcoming
Brayden White
Requesting Arle Nadja from Puyo Puyo aggressively fingering the navel of a boy she has tied to her bed, reveling in his nervous reactions. She is also wearing something revealing.
Anyone can point out flaws but if /ic/ can point you in the right direction, then there is no reason why you shouldn't ask. I find much of the time artists are never fully satisfied with their work, I'm certainly not, for one.
Praises are fine, it is a by-product of delivering a adequate product. Just think that if you improve that product, you will be getting praise from all kinds of sectors, not just friends and some randoms from social media. If you want comments, just ask for comments and people will (or should) oblige you.
At the end of the day, you need to be doing much of the leg work so you should always give yourself objectives to complete in order to improve/gain enhanced knowledge on what you wish to achieve. This goes for most things in life.
Lucas Adams
Requesting Iris from Mega Man X4 wearing lingerie and bending over, like the bottom reference.
I wish I can post it now. Already contacted a fair number of them, I got praised instead. They even admitted that they're not really good at writing feedbacks. So yeah, more practice never hurts. I really wanted feedback just so I can apply improvements for the next thing I'll draw. /ic/ kinda feels slow for me to get feedback, effective though. No one bothers to PM when I ask for one. But I guess more practice for me
Joshua Parker
Nice work user, saved.
Angel Hernandez
Requesting Jam Kuradoberi showing her feet happily while holding a plate of Chinese Steam Buns. Leave her shoes on the side please

I don't visit these threads very often but since we're talking about things that we nee to get off our chests I got two, too.
First: >draw stuff and characters I like since I was a kid, draw characters and other stuff I like >at first just take an image and try to copy it without tracing >draw a ton of army stuff, landscapes, dragons, cars, characters like Ezio from AC >years later start posting art online >figure out drawing cute girls give s more attention, start doing that because I don't really mind >draw a lot of pictures from a certain series, gather a small audience from it >get bored of the series, start drawing less of that and more other vidya, anime and TV show stuff >massive drop in likes and reblogs/retweets
Second: >be SFW artist >draw NSFW occassionaly but didn't post it anywhere >decide to actually post some of them on pixiv because how it handles NSFW content >go from under 10 likes/bookmarks/whatever they're called per image to over 100 >get a few DMs asking for commissions >almost get pulled into drawing porn
It's really tiring having to choose between being a literal nobody and drawing what caters to a larger community. I've seen plenty of amazing artists both on twitter, pixiv and tumblr who draw wonderful, extremely high quality art on a level that I can only ever dream of being able to do but they draw stuff that isn't either "popular" or "porn" so hardly anyone notices their work. I don't know should I feel sad or angry at how things are.

>second feel I know what you mean. Seeing NSFW artists making thousands per month from Patreon always makes me heavily consider posting my NSFW stuff. The draw of a stable income is simply too much.

if money is your concern then draw fanart porn if art is important to you as something you enjoy draw whatever you like.
