I only ever got to play the demo on one of those playstation demo discs. My friend and I used to call the demo disc "different games" and tomba was our favorite. I miss those simple times and my friends.

i remember playing tomba 2 when i was around 6 or 8 and my (female) cousin came by and enjoyed the game with me then i changed from the squirrel suit to the normal shorts and she was like 'omg no change back! that's not appropriate!'

Tomba is one of those games that are impossible to discuss on Yea Forums nowadays because all the oldfags who played were displaced with zoomers that only heard about the memes, and would rather discuss the latest bait so the Tombi threads never go past 50 replies before hitting the archive. It didn't use to be like this.

I remember absolutely playing the fuck out of the demo of this. Like 6 years later my brother bought the sequel for some strange reason and we played the hell out of that. I didn't get part 1 till like 5 years after that after digging through my friends old ps1 games he had stacked on each other along with MegaMan 8 and Musashi. Ironically I haven't really touched it since.

Nah, it's a Sony-owned IP. They both got released as a PSone classic for the PS3/PSP/Vita, but never for the PS4.

I remember playing the Tomba 2 demo after owning and loving the first one and being extremely put off by it for some reason. It's been so long, though, I can't remember why. Was the voice acting especially bad?

That demo had lot of games I repeatedly played and most of them liked a lot but Spyro and Tekken 3 were the only full games got to play. Maybe will eventually bother to emulate the others (never have yet 3D consoles because lazy I guess).
Thankfully haven't watched Tombi 1 content really at all and it was favorite from the demo. Liked the quests/RPG elements a lot.
That speedrun of 2nd game think watched live, game looks worse than first one because it's like 3D.

Didn't take that long, whenever I see one I think I don't have I just open the folder and check, then drag and drop.
With the time I spent on Yea Forums I could've even gotten married and raised children, however.

Pretty sure that's it. Not 100% sure because it was my brother's friend who lived close to us who had many such demos. Still have that demo, maybe he gave it to us. It's inside Spyro case but don't remember that game coming with a demo disc.

But googling about the demo it was included with black label copies of Spyro 1. Maybe it also came with PS magazine. Now I remember it was kinda silly that the demo had Spyro 1.

For me its probably cause the game was grittier, seemed less lively.

What? broadly speaking 1 has some tougher areas in it than 2 ever did.

the voice acting was bad sure but really the audio mixing was the real problem, some tracks are extremely loud compared to the rest of the game, that fucking talking to people track in particular is an utter bastard for it.

I rented Tomba! way back in the day when rental stores were a thing. Rented it based solely on the cover art but wasn't disappointed.

Is 1 better than 2? I still own a physical copy of 2 and must have played it at least 5 times now and is one of my favorite childhood games I never talk about/could never talk about after the speedrunning incident.

When I was 6 or 7 I almost completed it. But when the time froze, everything got monochrome and a eerie music started playing I got scared shitless and never really finished it.

I believe the second is Blue Valentine, not sure about the first.

Probably the worst minigame from either game. The race was a bit annoying but doable once you learn to just stick to the ground, but the Trolley just feels so precise it becomes a pain in the ass even if you've beaten it before.

On an unrelated topic, I still enjoy the first game far more than the second, mostly for its music and artstyle. I think the transition to 3D was just awkward, and some of the puzzles in 2 are just so bizarre. Fucking hated the forest in the second game. That's on top of voice acting that's either poorly acted or doesn't fit (one girl sounds like a woman in her 40s).

if I could choose one game I wish was made by me it would definitely be this one. sequel was ok but felt like safe, predictable by the numbers title and more 3d made it look worse.
