why aren't there more characters in video games that follow the ojou-sama archetype?
It is too much of a 90s thing?

because it's a tired shit trope
Devs have bad taste
they're the best
It just seems its out of vogue right now, which is a mighty shame. If you do want to find a game with a character like that today, Disgaea 2 has Rozalin.
They all got put into fighting games, pity there're basically not in anything else.
Fuck Yandere Simulator, I want an Ojousama Simulator where you become Queen Bee by humiliating your competition, defeating them with witty and undermining quips, tricking them into social faux pas and generally getting everyone to worship you.
Nice, thanks.
It's funny how fighters do seem to get most of them, when oujos probably wouldn't want to get their hands dirty that way. I'd make an Oujosama Sim in a heartbeat if I knew how to code, your choice in attire would determine who you would court more easily and give different bonuses to your abilities in sweet talking, agility/deftness, humiliation, etc. The final 'boss' is getting the school principal to worship you.
it is the hair, or the laugh?
It's both. Both enhance a girl's oujo-ness, but only the nest will have the full package.
