Who else thinks this will be a contender for greatest game ever? And after BotW, Odyssey, Tetris 99, how can Nintendo be stopped, bros?
Who else thinks this will be a contender for greatest game ever? And after BotW, Odyssey, Tetris 99...
I'm sure it will be fun, but there will always be a certain percent of the population that don't want to touch something that is cute instead of edgy.
koopa.... car........ why?
Because it's EPIC
Because beep beep fuck you
youtube.com
probably a ground hazard that you can put any enemy in
when's the last time Nintendies won GOTY?
It's literally just a fucking level editor
>SMB4 never
>Actual new 2D HD mario that isn't a copy pasta of NSMB never
it's okay when Nintendo™ does it. NintoddIers are desperate for ports
2017 twice
soon.
Mario Maker was the most fun I had with my Wii U (not including BotW) so I'm looking forward to this, but I'm not excited by the whole paid online thing, I think Nintendo is really trying to nickel and dime their fans
>a gaint homing bullet bill launcher in a koopa car chasing you as you have to jump over pits in an auto scrolling level
>some guy finds out how to make timers that give more 1-ups and coins based on time
>need enough speed to win
YES PLEASE
I’m fucking pissed cause a good amount of what I’ve seen should’ve been in the wii u one and now I feel ripped off
Like, 3d world and carts and whatever, that’s fine I get why that isn’t being added and was saved for the sequel
But fuck you I deserve slopes and Luigi
Feeling buttfucked by wii u is why I haven’t gotten a switch. Yes I’m mad, rightfully so
everything Nintendo makes is a masterpiece, especially when it isn't
>Feeling buttfucked by wii u is why I haven’t gotten a switch. Yes I’m mad, rightfully so
Feeling buttfucked by the Wii U is why I got a Switch early so I'd be sure it'd be hackable. Have pirated all my games. It's a nice feeling.
There are no Yoshi in Super Mario 3D World?
Have you not played super mario world or are you actually retarded and don't consider it smb4
SMBX is better
Mario's appearances changed as hardware was better able to capture the idea. They aren't obligated to change it just to the sake of being different.
Yes, and?
NSMBU does pretty much everything that the old 2D games did. It feels derivative if you played the 3 other ones before it, but by itself it's pretty sweet
I really doubt they'll revisit the 2D style in any other format.
I can see them doing a totally unpredictable art style a la Link's Awakening remake that will trigger the same kind of response
>waah why doesn't mario look like a UE4 demo
>waah why change, i didn't want change, except when things don't change enough
Hopefully Mario Maker is the future of 2D Mario. Just make new items/enemies and let people do what they want with them.
>Hopefully Mario Maker is the future of 2D Mario.
Why would it be? Do you think they're just not going to release new consoles ever?
I really want them to do a nice painterly style for SMB4. Since graphics aren't making such massive improvements anymore it's preferable to have some horizontal progression. Something made with a lot of soul so you get the same feeling as going from 1 to 3 and 3 to world.
I wish they'd stop shilling fucking toadette
I unironically want to see Nintendo do an entire set of retro-styled games with brand new pixel art, for all of their major IPs
I wish they brought back Toadsworth, when did he even last appear
>Tetris 99
That was Arika's doing actually, they made the TGM series for Tetris.
TGM4 when?
Like Yoshi's Island? We already had a level like this, I doubt they'd make a whole game like it as it would get stale. I'd like a compilation of different styles, that would be interesting
What? I just hope they don't release any more NSMB crap
>it would get stale
That doesn't make sense. By that logic all styles are already stale.
>Corridor in a tight, cramped underground alien complex opens up to a vast and expansive forest, but you can only explore a tiny bit of it.
Kino
You seriously cannot think that a level editor can be considered GOTYAY material.
I'm just saying, if the only thing that distinguishes it from NSMB is the fact that it's paintery, then the novelty of paintery will wear off quickly and all you're left with is NSMB.
Plus you'll have the problem that most crazy art styles end up looking samey much faster than more standard art style. Yoshi's Wooly World, for instance, god I got tired of that fast
>let's pick on the fan made concept art
Not to alarm you but you may have autism
>Yoshi's Wooly World, for instance
Why are they making a sequel to this game? Especially considering Kirby's Epic Yarn already exists
I think you've invented an artstyle in your head and imagine how it would play out, exaggerating it in order to make it not work when it's definitely possible to make something that's standard, good looking and unique among the series. You created a box for the idea when there wasn't one and didn't need to be one.
???????????????????????????????????????????????
looks like stereotypical indieshit to me
You complained about NSMB series and went on to suggest that a unique art style would keep it from feeling like copy pasta, as if it's the graphics and not the gameplay that determine the derivative feeling of a Mario game.
I don't know what else to say about this, just voicing my opinion that highly eclectic art styles are good in small quantities but they are susceptible to have problems beyond that, not to mention absolutely none of this addresses the problem of the underlying gameplay. Are you saying a game that plays exactly like NSMB is fine as long as it merely looks different?
Looks like a stereotypical zoomer to me
Koizumi mentioned this in an interview in 2015
nintendoeverything.com
Given NSMB's success, it could take a while to really refine and make a new 2D Mario stand out, though given NSMB, that shouldn't be too hard to accomplish.
No Chargin' Chuck no buy
>>some guy finds out how to make timers that give more 1-ups and coins based on time
>fill up entity limit to nearly the maximum on of screen track where the bullet blaster won't touch them
>leave some off screen track enemies that will get crushed by the blaster as it travels to fill up the entity limit
>despawn blaster once mario reaches the end pipe/door
>take mario to a room with stuff that despawns if entity limit is reached and therefor wont grant you 1ups/coins
>youtube.com
>youtube.com
it's not exactly how it works, but if you watch the videos you'll understand
honestly this is the game that will make me consider getting a switch
Could he have been talking about Mario Maker?
The graphics is the primary derivative feeling of mario games with the NSMB series. Though there is also not very many changes in gameplay once NSMB series started. The core gameplay is still great.
>Are you saying a game that plays exactly like NSMB is fine as long as it merely looks different?
Of course not, how thorough do I have to be? The gameplay definitely has room for advancements, but my post is about the art.
This
>mario and the gang get sucked into a painting made by bowser.
>bowser rules over the mushroom kingdom as they are gone and the gang has to escape
>8 playable characters:mario,luigi.wario,waluigi,peach,e.gad,donkey kong,captain toad
>each world is a different art style that affects gameplay
Grass:painted
Desert:paper
Snow:clay
Swamp:water colored
Under water:Crayon
Haunted mansion:Old style rubber hose animation
Neo bowser city:Pixel art
Bowsers castle:Normal
Mushroom kingdom:You escape bowsers painting and all of the mush room kingdom is transformed by the painting into a collage of all the styles. The secound to last level is a giant robo-bowser statue where you fight the koopalings in various rooms in different styles. When you reach the top bowser jr activates the robot and you fight the robot and him.
Last level:The painter who made the painting and gave it to bowser has revealed himself. He is using bowsers body as a puppet.Once you defeat bowser you fight him,and win!
That dropped after Mario Maker, so no.
All I've ever wanted is a Mario platformer where you can play as Wario, Donkey Kong, etc. In a series with so many iconic characters, choosing between blue and yellow Toad is a crime.
Was gonna have rosilina and pauline as characters but ten people playing a platformer at once sounds terrifying
I'd do Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, each with unique abilities.
You're better off hoping for more DKC and Wario Land games instead. I give them credit for not having Wario outside of SM64DS.
We should have a Donkey Kong/Wario crossover. Make having them in the same universe more believable.
It would be really difficult to give unique moves to 8 different characters and keep it all balanced, and if they all played the same it would be as meaningless as the Toads
Just make it Mario, Luigi, Wario and DK then.
I made my list because of that reason, each artstyle in my game idea would have different mechanics and would ad twists to characters abilities
>e.gad sucks up paper using polter geist
>in the clay theme wario is so heavy the clay breaks if its to thin when stood on
>waluigis gimick is being able to walk and climb on walls
>captain toad is actually able to jump by getting thrown by toadette(in his back pack)
>in pixel theme dk can throw barrels
Hardly, Wario and DKC are way too different for that to work. The closest you'd get is Jungle Beat. Wario would have fit with the Gamecube version at least. A nice mesh of DKC/SMB/WL/YI would be ideal but I don't see it happening, only because it's obvious that SMB would eclipse the others. Mario Super Sluggers was a few Wario Land/Ware characters away from being a crossover.
