Ninja's sponsored Apex Legends launch stream cost EA $1 million, Reuters report says

pcgamer.com/ninjas-sponsored-apex-legends-launch-stream-cost-ea-dollar1-million-reuters-report-says/

>Apex Legends is a really good game that seemed to come out of nowhere: One minute we're speculating about a Titanfall battle royale, and the next it draws 2.5 million players in its very first day. There was a quiet but concerted marketing effort in place to make that happen, which included sponsorships of streamers like Ninja, who spent hours playing the game on its launch day. According to Reuters, he was paid $1 million for his time.

>The promotional relationship wasn't a secret—his stream was labeled as an "Apex Legends partner"—but the amount involved is staggering, particularly given that the report suggests that it was solely for launch day. An Electronic Arts rep seemed to confirm that, telling Kotaku that its marketing campaign included "paid engagements with some content creators at the launch of the game," and that after February 5, "all Apex Legends streaming from content creators was completely organic."

So the big bad Fortnite killer that Valve fanboys hyped up... needs to pay a guy $1 million to play it...

lol

Streaming for money and the mere existence of patreon almost makes me think the commie LARPers have a point.

So when will this Battle Royale trend fall off?

Why did you create this thread again?

I don't like EA but what Epic are trying to do to pc gaming is unforgivable honestly.

Every pc gamer should hate epic right now, not for them but what they are bringing to the pc platform. we will end up with 20-30 launchers with what they are doing.

I don't disagree but it's not like Epic is the only one pulling this shit, we've already got EA and Ubi doing it as well, Bethesda saying they're gonna do it, various games that have their own launchers, etc. The thing Epic is doing that's fucked up, though, is selling games that aren't their own and pulling console-tier exclusivity bullshit, which is a really scary sign. (As is, by the way, Bamco pulling console bullshit with controller support in AC7 and getting away with it.)

what are they doing to draw hatred?

so that's 1m just for him, excluding the dozens of other streamers and shills on websites such as 4channel?
>EA

When the superhero movie trend does

When another genre has $1,000,001

It makes me sure we need to end universal suffrage and start the eugenic process as soon as possible, proper IQ average and culture would never let enough stupid and uneducated people to exist and let this sub-human scum be successful no matter the economic system

As much as I hate twitch faggots, why would be any better for them to spend this amount of money on (((google/youtube))), ((((zuckerberg))) or even (((cnn))) for marketing?

>Valve fanboys
Where the fuck are you getting your information?

>omg what an unexpected success story guys
>wowiee. We had to convince our masters really hard to make a Live service game and didn’t have to point them to PUBG’s making all that money

Anyone who thought this shit was some genuine work of heart Is a moron.

How much does he pay the IRS? Actually does he have to since he is underage?

Well they did post a meme to their Twitter basically stating they did it for the money.

That's how literally any video game works now.
>Pay the top 50 streamers to play your game on launch
>All the kiddies buy the game so they can play with their surrogate friend
Because I'm sure all those variety streamers were playing Devil May Cry 5 on stream on launch day because they're all big fans of the series and they've been waiting ten years for it to come out, right?

Genuinely angry that Yea Forums made me aware these people exist. I was happy in my bubble, you dickheads.

You do know that unironically starting a system like that is a death sentence for every Yea Forums poster, right?

>Getting paid $1 million just to play video games

I'm fucking jealous of this cunt

>Yea Forums
you mean 4channel a.k.a. r/Yea Forums a.k.a. 4chanera

Both, actually.

>giving money to a pedophile that stalks kids in halo on xbox live

EA isn't gonna like the press they get later

I really wish this shit wasn't marketed to children. I was a big fan of Titanfall 2 and my experience from it carried over pretty well to Apex. The biggest difference between the two games now is that in Titanfall 2 your team is usually competent, but in Apex your squad is almost always a couple of retarded kids or some moron blasting music into his mic. Makes it really difficult to enjoy for me.

i wish i could get paid that much just to sit on my ass and play games all day. i have more of a personality than this brick wall. have no idea how he got so famous.

Maybe the characters should've have been so overdesigned and fugly.

Lawbreakers all over again.

>Titanfall 2 your team is always competent
Boy I fucking wish, I’ve never had to carry games as hard as I did in Titanfall 2, sometimes still ending in a loss despite doing more than my team combined

woooooAHAHHHH POGCHAMP POGCHAMP HE KILLED AN NPC POGCHAMP

>we've already got EA and Ubi doing it as well
They just had their own games on their launcher, if things continue and other companies take after Epic you're gonna have 30 different launchers all with their own exclusives.

I'm waiting for Overwatch to finally die.

And I mean for real this time. Because Blizzard will eventually run out of money to fabricate the "comp scene"

because everyone thought he was the best fortnite player when it got big but in reality he was just a pub stomper and got exposed everytime he played in a tournament good news though his channel has been in a decline and he isnt even in the top 10 streamers anymore for subs

Setting trends to make DRM even more annoying and invasive.

Go away Gaben. Maybe if you weren't such a greedy fat fuck then we woudln't have all these different launchers.

I guess I'll be pirating in the future then. Where did we go wrong bros?

It's not fair he's set for life I want to see him lose it all REEEEE

It's not launchers on their own that annoy me, it's the mandatory aspect of it. If I had to make 30 different accounts on various websites for games but could just download them and play I'd be more ok with it. But no, I have to drench my computer in bloatware just to play a handfull of different games.

Just do what I do and pirate everything that's not on Steam/GoG/itch.io.

We never went wrong. This industry will always be dictated by the average uninvolved consumer, we never had any power to begin with.

I would love super hero games.

Oh yeah?! Well
[Initiating cope_routine]
He might have money, but
[Pulling excuse from goalpost_move_database]
at least I don't have to entertain children.

His brain is fucked.

they sold out to the chinese

>Reviewers called paid shills for years.
>endlessly mocked
>now there are literal paid shills
>no one cares
what went wrong?

first mobas now this shit.
jsut wait for the next big think.
VR is in the distance but other things are comming before that

evryone knows that he is a shill. people are bothered by the anonymous shills

E stands for Europe
A stands for America
EA stands for FUCK CHINA AND FUCK SUBHUMAN CHINKS

If anything that's what commies want, how are streamers exploiting their own labor? I know it sounds silly, but being a communist has a philosophical argument beyond "I'm butthurt this person has more money than me"

don't think anyone got sponsored to play dmc5 desu, if they did and they didn't make it public both the streamers and capcom could get fucked by the FTC

This. Beyond my one friend who likes dunkey or the nerd roommate I had that liked avgn, who doesn't even count imo, are the only celebs I would know of if not for here. I guess pewdiepie but I didn't even know he was a thing until years after he was apparently famous with the zoomers.

user the game isn't on steam
What the fuck do you mean by valve when it's an origin exclusive

$1M on advertising is fucking nothing
to have Ninja push your game for 24h is a damned bargain

Is that supposed to be a downside?

>Valve fanboys
are you mentally ill?

Yes, he has to. An at $1 mil+ it would be quite a bit. On top of that, he's self-employed so he gets double hit for taxes. I would be surprised if the IRS takes half of everything he earns.

And people still deny that companies are paying money to shill on Yea Forums

Wow you're so cool m8.

It's not that the streamer's labor is being exploited, it's that he isn't entitled to the fruits of his labor to begin with. You don't own your labor in a communist system. Your work is collectively owned by the whole group and the entire group will decide how to distribute what you earn. He is preventing someone else from earning money by taking this million dollar deal for himself.
