So metroid's ongoing story

In samus returns the Easter egg Images of what happened on the planet show that instead of being destroyed by the metroids like we thought the Chozo instead had a military coup with the the evil ones winning.

When do you think we'll get the Chozo as villains in the future?

Honestly I'm scratching my head as to how they'll segue into Chozo after Fusion without just hand waving away the ending of that game. Not that it can't be explained but I do hope they move on from "fugitive" as fast as possible.
It is, however, a great way to explain Samus working alone from everyone and exploring Chozo stuff more easily. Since she won't be doing bounties that somehow take her to chozo relics, she'll just find them herself.
Ideally M5 starts with the Rogue Chozo instead of continuing to hint. The implications of a militaristic Chozo faction is kinda huge because they're capable of wiping the Federation. GF has been trying to replicate Chozo tech for years but these guys have the original stuff. It could be nuts

Higher tech can be overcome through superior numbers. The chozo on Zebes got stomped by the Space pirates despite the pirates being inferior to the federation in tech, solely because the Pirates were bigger in numbers.

If the Chozo are a tiny pebble of a population, the most likely thing would be the chozo faction hiding out and trying to make a doomsday weapon to kill everything in the universe outside of their shelter planet since they wouldn't be able to win an outright war.

As for post Fusion, I think a game where samus is fleeing from the Federation elements that want to kidnap her and use her genetics (since she contains the last metroid DNA in existence that they know of) for bioweapons would be good.
Granted, it would probably end up as a rip off of Alien ressurection, with some mutant samus/metroid clone enemies at some point if they did that.

Not crazy about that bioweapon plot, hopefully they move away from Alien a little more.
As for the the space pirate thing I kinda doubt those Chozo were there for that.
The "number vs tech" thing will probably be played out where tech wins. The comparatively small group of Chozo will swiftly wipe out some GF post or something and then we go from there. I'm sure they'll have a DD weapon if some kind as well

all this talk about post 4, and nothing about prime 4, the real thing to be excited about. Though calling it "prime" after phazon and metroid prime is gone is kind of wrong, that's literally what the prime series was about.

it's really easy to dismiss the fugitive plot, either Samus' actions prompt an investigation into her claims that results in them going away, or if you want the conspiracy to survive, they pick a fall guy and stage the above while sending her to investigate some bullshit they made up that can turn out to be 2d/10.
there's no way in hell the federation would lose their biggest trump card over some unethical experiments, or even worse make an enemy of her. if she doesn't already have more than enough evidence to cause a scandal she could get enough fairly easily.

Those aren't Chozo.

user Nintendo clarified years ago that Prime denominates the gameplay. This became clear anyways after Hunters. I'm still more excited for Prime 4.
GF (wisely) doesn't want to rely on one Hunter to take care of all their problems. So they've been prototyping her shit for a while now. Fusion shows just how extensive it gets. Also shows how scummy they're willing to be to acquire her tech. If they think can get their hands on her through declaring her an enemy of the state they absolutely will.
Don't think they'll actually succeed but it's a good framing device

Having both Feds and Chozo would be a good opportunity to introduce a faction system. Doing well against the feds gives the chozo a stronger presence on the map and vice versa. 2D Metroid desperately needs something to spice things up.

The immediate problem with that is that the Chozo don't appear benevolent to really anything. They'd likely sooner eliminate Samus and reclaim their "stolen" technology. Even if Samus was allowed in there is no way she'd stand for it.

Just a reminder that the chozo mirror the Seraphim from Supreme Commander.

>faction of ascended super powerful aliens
>some wanted to embrace peace
>others built horrific weapons of war
>the peace lovers are dead
>the warmongering ones are still out there

Metroid 5 will literally be the Forged Alliance of the series, with Chozo coming out of nowhere to murder all of civilization.

Literally zero problems with this. It's especially effective because Samus actually has a link

Metroid 5

Simple, Adam blackmails the GF to releasing all of their dirty secrets and thus ignoring that shit from Fusion and Other M to get the series back on track.

We will never know until there's a new Alien movie.

>with the the evil ones winning.
Who says they're the evil ones? Maybe the fucks who were playing god by creating entirely new forms of life were the evil ones?

>It turns out that Adam survived Other M and is the leader of the Corrupt faction of the federation
>Metroid 5 juxtaposes AI adam as a caring and heroic individual, an idealized version of how Samus "remembers" adam, with the actual Biological Adam who's an asshole.

Nintendo has been very keen on dickass birds lately, so maybe soon.

That was mainly because Mother Brain betrayed them plus they were old and have long given up their warrior ways.

is this still canon? I thought the motherbrain unit was now something the pirates stole from the Federation now, not something the chozo made.

Yes it's still canon. Aurora Units are cheap replicas. Just another Federation attempt at recreating Chozo tech.

Great, Samus needs a challenge, who's a better challenge than the Chozo themselves.

Ridley, this time she needs to piss herself when she sees him, not just cry.
There needs to be a yellow puddle on that floor.

That's always been canon the Aurora Units are just another attempt of the GF trying to reverse engineer Chozo tech.

DON'T.

Don't what?

Them birds

Agreed, Chozo, Space Pirates, and Metroids could be the new/old enemies.

Didn't the Chozo ascend to a higher plane of existence?

Attached: Chozo.jpg (941x1441, 979K)

The Tallon IV Chozo not the other ones.

The Chozo on Tallon IV are another faction that colonized the planet and then ascended beyond the mortal plane. They were pacifist naturalists. Basically the opposite of the Rogue shown in SR.
Don't expect that to ever come up though

Like anyone wants to put up with Alien after Prometheus and Covenant.

Isolation was good. Lets just pretend prometheus and covenant didn't happen and go from there.

>Want a game that elaborates more on the Federation
>Get Federation Force
Feel like I got monkey pawed here.

That's why you must never trust the Feds.

That's because Prime 4 won't continue the story we were lived on out for 16 years, it'll continue Prime 3, the story that was relatively fitting as an end besides the main tease at the 100% end, while Fusion lends off on a big cliffhanger. It also doesn't help that we know nothing of Prime 4 besides Sylux being involved with the plot, while we already know shit like the evil Chozo from SR's bonus shit to keep speculating of that story goin'.

What makes you think the evil chozo won't be the villains of Prime 4 and not the followup to fusion?

My question is why would Nintendo have sequel hook like that in a remake.

Makes sense to me, if they're wanting to introduce a new evil chozo faction, this is the best game to try and add breadcrumbs about it before springing it on fans.
It does double duty. It first explains what happened to the chozo on the planet instead of making them seem THAT incompetent as to get killed off by their own creations when samus, 1 woman using their tech, was able to eradicate them. Secondly, this is the most relevent point to add in breadcrumbs about their existence, so that if they bring them in in a future metroid game they won't seem like they just appeared with no foreshadowing.

Not him but because this is Sakamoto's story, not Tanabe's.

Attached: Artifact Temple..jpg (1920x1080, 245K)

>Sakamoto
I thought he literally washed his hands of metroid and walked away officially after how much of a shitshow Other M was?

Attached: 1353136148976.jpg (1920x1200, 905K)

He was the producer of Samus Returns, idiot. At least he's getting Metroid games out instead needing a certain studio to bail his ass out again. Retro is the reason the Prime trilogy and Prime 4 will be successful, not Tanabe.

Attached: 1396748322963.jpg (1920x1080, 884K)

No? If anything he just took a break. He's still the "head guy" of Metroid, while Tanabe is the lead for Metroid Prime.
When Sakamoto went back to Metroid, we ended up with Samus Returns.

*Prime Trilogy are successful and Prime 4 will be successful

prometheus is a good movie. Covenant is meh.

you know, this image reminds me/makes me wonder, why did the Omega metroid at the end of fusion get so dead set on killing samus and preventing her escaping?
There's an entire space station of X parasites there and Samus has Metroid DNA in her so she should appear to be the same species to it.

Attached: 1498717964511.jpg (1280x1841, 540K)

Maybe Metroids get territorial in later life stages

Attached: AM2R - Top of the Tower 1920x1080-A.png (1920x1080, 147K)

Reminder that a fucking fan made a better remake of 2 than nintendo themselves.

To the Omega Metroid's credit, it wasn't attacking Samus while SA-X was floating in the air (going by Sakamoto, Samus lost her Metroid mutations after recovering the Ice Beam). I also don't recall Metroids having a "no killing among ourselves" policy.

well you never see them trying to kill each other whenever they're jam packed together in other zones.
Granted, those are never omegas together but lesser ones, but still.
