Playing on PC using only keyboard so I don't really know if it's just my anti joystick autism, but DMC4 really feels a lot more japanesy in the sense that it has smoother, more uninterrupted controls that let you go from attack to attack combinating combos into a non stop streak of smonkin sikh style while DMC5 feels more americany in the sense that movement and fights feel more blocky, for the lack of a better word

King Cerberus back move, don't know what it's called but the one where you shoot Ice out.

Cerberus is pretty good for fighting him in general. Ice Age outright shuts down some of his moves.

DMC3 Dante is relatively the weakest Dante right? DMC2 would have to technically be the strongest until DMC5. So he'd probably be on part with DMC1 Dante.

Directors Cut is kind of fun. But you really feel the limitations of that system in the confines of the game and the characters actively and aggressively detract from the overall experience.

After awakening Sparda and before that.
So you'd put him at starting tier there?

I assume his power growth lines up chronogically.
So 5>4>2>1>3 is how I think Dante scales up.
He does a fair amount of power leveling in 5, 1 and 3 though.

I can deal with ice and lightning doggo fine but fire doggo always swats me at some point. I just stay in the air as much as possible and star/dash/trick whenever a ranged attack comes. Coyote deals with lightning's balls easily enough.

Most of his combos end in several judgement cuts after you whittle off about 30% of his HP though

I didn't see any million judgement cuts, only judgement cut end that's even faster than it was on SoS.
The fuckin follow up they give him to his rapid slash though, so simple, yet it catches me all the time.

I really like Goliath and wish he'd come a bit later so he could be faster and more difficult. Artemis is cool when she isn't being a cunt. V's bosses are shit but I'm interested in fighting them as Dante and Nero and seeing how they hold up. Gilgamesh is awful. Cav Ang, Malphas, and King Cerb are great. Fruitizen is mostly just Standizen and that's gay, Urizen in general is fought too much. I like fighting V's pets but at the same time I hate fighting them, it's weird. Vergil was good but they were too focused on making him like 3 Vergil instead of evolving him and he doesn't hold up to it, and fighting him twice in a row was lame.

I ended up loading a checkpoint a few times to get the blue orb fragment in mission 8 without trying to kill all those mini angelos by just doing an elaborate jump to get to the other side.

So how does the style work in this game to get an S ranking on a mission? Shit's hard as fuck on mission 3, SoS. I keep getting an A with around 5400 style. Strange thing is I manage to hit S style on almost every fight and I've hit SS a few times too. I'm assuming what's fucking me up is the boss at the end. I can't for the life of me get a good style ranking since the boss is flying all over the place and I eventually drop to C or even D, not to mention I get hit a few times.

The style points are an average, meaning the more you strike at S-SSS you're raising that average while fighting on lower ranks decreases it, meaning if you're fighting a small horde of enemies that won't even let you get to S you'll just be lowering your average, which means it's actually best to avoid any optional fight and just do the obligatory ones

Shotgun is good for staggers/knockdowns. Kalina Ann is for big long range damage, or damage while jumping away. E&I are worthless. Haven't used Faust.

Just remember, you don't have to mash as hard as dmc3/4 to get the things you want. Each move can be done at least 5 frames of each other.

In theory yes, a lot of the optional encounters are just a few demons scattered around though so even when you do get to S they won't last on S much longer, it's more advantageous to focus on performing really well on the obligatory fights, especially if you're retrying too much
I guess the optional fights on the crumbling plataforms from mission 8 are advantageous but i certainly can't picture any one in mission 3 that would be good for you

I don't remember menus being an issue in other DMC games, but holy fuck does it enrage me to no end. It's just that 1-2 second delay until the menu option "loads" before you can actually select it.
First playthrough I was getting kinda annoyed during customisation, while learning, backing, swtiching etc in the menus, but on DMD with all the deaths and restarting from checkopoints or resetting missions, as well as the delay on cutscene skipping, holy SHIT

Don't understimate the autopilot, it juices them up a lot and you can still control them, also abuse the fact using DT instantly revives them
