A forced 4 playthroughs just to beat the game, probably some of the most fucked collision detection and controls I've ever seen in a Sonic game and plenty of levels that teeter on the 10 minute mark. Dialogue,cutscenes, and complication is all due to an upgrade in hardware making it possible and in no way makes it different from the genesis games story wise, hell S3&K has a more complex story than most of the 3D games nowadays. i just played through sa2 again for the first time since i was a kid, actually. while it was a bit clunky and i died to some dumb glitches here and there, it was overall enjoyable.
worst sections were mechs due to that fucking high pitched buzz and how clunky they were to move. how did they fall so far from gamma? still a decent time, though. the final eggman mech stage is the shit.
rouge and knuckles stages were alright. anyone who says they took too long is fucking retarded, took like 3 minutes max on most levels excluding meteor herd and mad space. meteor herd as a level is rad as fuck, mad space is good but a bit wonky with gravity on some of the planets.
sonic and shadow levels were the height of the experience as expected but had their own problems, mostly with shit like wack detection. stuff like light speed dashing through only one ring, or clipping through rails. a blast for sure, though.
final story was pretty fun, save for having to go back and get the breathing apparatus for knuckles to make my life a bit easier. it was neat to bounce back and forth between characters.
chao garden was cool, don't need to mention that.
overall, it's a good game and people give it way too much shit, even if i prefer adventure. open your heart is still cooler than live and learn

Sonic retro confirmed all of Forces is modded Lost World. There are literal videos revealing most of the animations from Lost World still exist in the fucking game. Animal capsules, Sonic's unused animations, etc.

And before you say it, the HE is NOT A FUCKING GAMEPLAY ENGINE. They didn't create the HE2 explictly for Forces, it was worked on during Lost World's development, used as a beta version for Mario and Sonic and the Rio Olmypic games, and the final version was used for Forces after one year of game dev time for Forces.

The only thing soulful about Colors is the setpiece design.
It's a crappy Mario Galaxy ripoff cashgrab that ruined Sonic's voice, personality, had terrible writing, added wisps which are shit utility wise, ruined the nice level design we got from Unleashed in order to make it more like Mario, and made Tails into the most annoying thing in the series.
And for the cherry on top, Cubot is also shit, Orbot was fine.

But it was also a Wii game, so I never thought it would feature a perfect translation of Unleashed's daytime gameplay anyway, and I'm not sure why so many people act like it should have. At the very least I thought the boost gauge depleting faster/being harder to fill was an improvement.

Not them persay, SEGA forced them to do it. It was originally meant to be some one off mobile game that used the Rush engine, but some idiot at SEGA said make it a sequel to Sonic 3K instead.

The exact same shit could be said as to why the Sonic 1 port for GBA used the Advance engine instead of being a proper port, because SEGA don't keep old engines, they just rewrite over everything they make.

Once the nostalgia for both games wore off for me overtime, it ended up being SA2 that I preferred more. I used to prefer SA1 more simply because I was more nostalgic for it, I loved the open world hubs and liked the overall look more. But gameplay wise its become clear to me over time that SA2 is just the far more polished and fun game.

In the Japanese version he said "Stubbornness is my saving grace!". That's why he calls Shadow stubborn in english dub Heroes -- they made a localization mistake.

The build up and the music for their fight was pretty cool.

The problem is that they lucked out when creating the Unleashed engine.
Sonic Unleashed was made at the exact right time when Sega still had the talent onboard to create such a revolutionary engine, but now most of the guys who helped create the Hedgehog engine have been snatched up by other game companies, namely Nintendo.

So even if they try to create a new engine that will be better than the shit version of the Hedgehog engine they devolved to for Lost World, it'll still be inferior to the Generations and Unleashed Hedgehog engine i'd imagine.

Personally I find it a chore to play if the powerups aren’t already unlocked. If I have everything though then it’s a rush to blaze through levels. This is especially true for the mechs who move like ass without the hover.

Pretty sure most of most people’s fond memories of sa2 were made doing runs for emblems, a ranks or chao supplies. We just remember the story more.
