I guess I should've been more specific. Fighting him as Dante, sometimes I get hit by something that staggers me. Fucked me over when he activated his Devil Trigger and I couldn't respond to an attack that mulched me.

My hype was pretty much non-existent before the game launched, outside of the initial buzz when it got announced. It's like my brain just didn't register it. It took me one whole playthrough until it caught up with me and I'm having even more fun on my second go.

Son what do you think I'm doing. Even with max-act and DT this shit took forever.

So after an user last night pointed out the fact that a well timed buster from nero will trigger a punch to coinside with a normal attack, I got a surge of autism and decided to see what the highest damage the basic sword attack could pull off.
To start, I used the base sword damage of 60, and added on each factor. A single level of exceed will provide 12 damage regardless of level, making the ex-attack deal 72 damage.
Now isolating the buster punch, I found that it actually adds on a full 22 damage, almost double that of the exceed charge, making it worth 82 points of damage.
Stacking both the punch and exceed together nets a total of 94 damage making it the highest damage base Nero could perform on the normal attack.
At this point though, I wondered how devil trigger would change that percentage, so I did the same test over again.
The normal attack from devil trigger deals 60, but if the bringer claw connects, it adds on 30 more points of damage, making the base attack worth 90.
Adding on exceed does the same as it does for base Nero, adding on 12 points, making an EX-DT attack worth 102 damage. (cont)

It sounds nice until you realize they're paid peanuts while living in some of the most expensive cities in the world. Also no job security, since there's always more schmucks willing to do the same job for less money to pay off crippling student loans. Also everyone around is always eager for a chance to pounce on you the moment you make a social faux pas. +Keeps all the Swordmaster moves
+Adds Drive
+Adds essentially a new style with summoned swords that add ALOT OF potential (you can juggle enemies while charging a Drive)
+Does significantly more damage using the same combo of trick aerial rave (because aerial rave gets extra hits via summoned swords)
+Looks cool as fuck
+enhanced devil arms with summoned swords
- Loses round trip (who cares?)

The only reason people choose Rebellion/Sparda is because they're DMC4lets who can't adapt to a new game or they like the insane reach sparda has on it's prop shredder

It's more fun to jump on it than to use snatch

Here's where things get interesting though, triggering the buster punch in DT will actually spawn two fists instead of just one, though with this added attack, it is possible to miss.
What I found was that if one fist lands in DT, it is woth 15 damage, netting you 105 damage total, no not all that significant over exceed.
However, if both fists land, you get 135 damage in total, netting you a 45 point boosts. There seems to be some sort of multiplier with the DT fists, or maybe one just does more damage than the other, I couldn't quite figure that part out.
But now, what happens when you stack exceed on top of that? Well adding on the 12 EX points to the dt punch's 135 will net you a whopping 147 damage from a single hit.
With this knowledge in mind, and assuming the buster punch adds the same amount of damage to each attack, the normal combo could potentially deal 349 damage in nero's base form alone, and going off the same assumption the DT combo could deal 495 damage if every hit landed.
All of this means that a perfectly timed normal attack from Nero would deal more damage than any other Red Queen attack doesn without theese modifiers.

you should try to linger on a SSS rank, its based on how long youre on a rank. use air taunts, and as dante, use dance macabre and balrog's back + b on sword master, they do alot of hits and dont kill until the final blow.

Don't overthink it. Artemis is literally a reference to the game Lady debuts in, that's the connection. They managed to turn Cerberus into a "breed" of demons, and in 4 we see there's gorillions of the frog bosses, so it's similarly not hard to guess there are multiple Gilgamesh types.

Yeah, just go to M13 as Dante with Faust, get to the Statue of Time, and then spam gunslinger's circle move with proper timing until the big group of enemies is dead. Quit to checkpoint and repeat a few times, you'll be good to go.

After you beat the game, Nero can use 4's buster arm pull and wire snatch interchangeably. By default it's right trigger. No pun intended.

Beating Urisen on prologue unlocks higher difficulty outright

Vergil was "dead" after the events of DMC1 when Dante "killed" him (when he was Nelo Angelo, a corrupted brainwashed minion of Mundus).
After DMC1 it's implied that he wasn't dead but he was trapped in Hell. Somehow his soul got trapped in his sword, Yamato, which ended up getting absorbed by Nero's Devil Bringer in DMC4.
Vergil comes back to get Nero's arm and tears it off. When doing this, he obtains Yamato back and is able to sever himself into two forms, V (his pure human side) and Urizen (his pure demon form).
Vergil came back because V stabbed Urizen and killed him, causing the demon and human sides to combine back together into Vergil.

But Artemis in 5 is literally supposed to be the Devil Arm. In Before the Nightmare Trish brought Artemis into battle in the prologue fight, it got taken away when they got their asses kicked. Nero even says "havent I seen you around Dante's office" and I kind of doubt he already knew it was Lady at that point. However Gilgamesh and King Cerberus are just the same species as the previous bosses. I think it mentions something about how there's a metal in the underworld that's known as Gilgamesh or something.

Nope. Dante has several complete systems that can be combined, most of the Nero stuff just supplements RQ.

Dante is more pre-emptive in his approach to combat. You're always thinking ahead in what you're doing so you switch styles or weapons before hand.

Nero is more reactive, he's always "in the moment" and has to exceed after each press, knuckle after each calibur/split/streak/payload. Bustering on reaction to attacks as a counter, snatching when necessary and all the way you're holding down Blue Rose for CSLv4 and using Devil Breakers/Charging Devil Breakers

Do a charged buster on a boss and come back here. Hell even a non-charged robot buster deals more damage. I thought it to be redundant too but the damage difference is insane, you can put some extreme damage even on DMD with those.

The model viewer for Gilgamesh explains it's not really a demon, let alone a true Devil Arm. It's a unique living metal found in Hell that's super powerful and has a lot of use. The Gilgamesh boss is from fusing the material to a Qliphoth root, and Dante's just wearing a bunch of it as a Devil Arm in 4. It also explains why the Order would have access to it.

When Nightmare is summoned, hit L1+O and you'll teleport onto Nightmare's back. Afterwards, lock onto an enemy and then flick the left stick towards them twice - Nightmare will teleport to them. During the teleport animation, hold O. Let go once he's on all fours.

It's just Griffon/Shadow escaping cutscenes, there is one for just Griffon, one for just Shadow and one for both at the same time

You realize that camera distance =/= FOV right? And the CT value proves the maximum FOV the game allow is around 50. Still way too low.
This fix everything and you no longer need to have the camera distance too far (it was extremely annoying when walking in tight corridors and suddenly the camera stops following the characters.)

Funny part is i got S ranks for most of the fights,but game gave me an A when normally ill do shitty on the fights and end them with an A rank and get hit 3-4 times by the boss and still get an S rank for end of the mission

Dante doesn't work in games where you're switching characters all the time. There are too many options and you get new weapons you barely have time to play around with. The walk back to the start in DMC4 was much shorter than the walk there, I felt like even that wasn't enough time to get the hang of him, and DMC5 was much worse. Not a big deal since you can practice in The Void and Bloody Palace coming, but makes the first playthrough not so fun with him. I'm not projecting in the slightest here, I'm literally the best DMC player in the world, trust me, these are objective facts

Elder Greyon Knight is a pain in the ass to fight. Probably my least favorite boss in the game. I don't even dislike him, but you're encouraged to hold your pets back for dodging and keeping them safe - it even says it on a loadscrene - and it's difficult to style.

Nero isn't that tough once you get a good control scheme.

I'm currently using gun on circle, breaker on square, bringer on R1 and exceed on R2, with L1 for lock-on and L2 for DT. You never press knuckle and exceed at the same time, so you can just move your index in tandem, and putting gun on circle allows you to hold the button with the middle of your thumb while you tap square.

I'm having trouble too, I end everyfight with SS and land a few parries with the Angelos I don't know what to improve aside from no damage.

Remember on 4 that you could hold the Buster to hold enemies in mid air to use as meatshields? you can do so again here, and if you do it on an enemy when another one is close to it you will hold both up. But in the case of Vergil it will do that unique buster animation

Does anyone else get frame drops whenever someone on network appears? It's only for a second or two but it's annoying when they constantly reappear.

Put hat on enemies. Gunslinger can put it on every enemies around you in melee range

If there is one complaint I have, it's that three headed lady riding chicken should have been more prominent, or at least killed more stylishly in her death cutscene. I was able to buster both of them once vergil was below 40% health, DT'd and I was also DT'd. I dont know which of the have to be true, but his clone was definitely not present when I did it

Go into practice mode for 5 minutes and you will figure out the timings for all of its attacks.

Am I missing anything else to boost my rating? I do the combos, gun normal and charged, use air attacks with juggling combos and taunt in the air and on ground but my rating always falls so quick and usually stays in the high A low ish S rank

HS is underrated. A couple good giga drill breakers and Urizen 1 becomes a lot easier. I wonder if it works for Vergil too. Probably going to be useful for Cavaliere once BP comes around.

It's not cheese so much as it's the "intended" way of fighting them, I feel like.
Kinda like how Sin Scissors can be insta-killed with a well-timed uppercut into shotgun, and Chaos can be knocked out of rolling really fast with Honeycomb, using something like Ice Age or the Balrog Kick Mode spin is just the go-to strategy on this enemy.

Just a friendly reminder to V players that Shadow/Griffon have proximity ranges for their movement behavior. Whether locked on or not they will move towards an enemy if you're within range of the enemy or return to you if you aren't. So if you're wondering why shadow ported back to you it's because you ran too far away

The prologue is not live. You can tell by looking for the blue icon signifying the cameo system above their name. If it has the blue icon, then its live.
Some missions use ghosts of yourself or other players, while some are live.

His lightning and flight dive moves are fast and have great damage. Shadow is best for Cavalier because he can parry but you still need lightning to nuke his ass while for Artemis i didn't find that much use for Shadow. Not doing Goliath last is heresy. At least that's the best strat i found for DMD so it should apply for below that.

Speaking of PVP, something that really striked me as odd, there is a stunned state your character can be in (even has stars around your head and everything), it's mostly seen if you get hit by a few of Vergil's summoned swords, i don't recall any DMC game ever have that state before.

If you're aiming for S rank on mission 10, just do the mandatory fights. It's the only mission in the game like that, because the other random roaming enemies are usually bulkier than the one or two Empusa scattered around mission 10.

I thought the non-mandatory fights do not count towards your Style ranking. Even some mandatory fights do not count. They showed 3 rooms at the endgame, while there are 5 mandatory red locked room in that mission. The 3 fights that are judged are the armored lizard, Hellbat Fire room, and last room where you fought army of Angelos. I made a mistake and nuked the last room, only getting 4000 points there.
