This game looks bad. Bad graphics, presentation, UI, and sound design. Worse than Marvel Infinite even. The roster is too weird and random, not to mention small, and you already know the story mode is gonna be ass simply due to that fact.

Why does MMPR Black have guns? Is that from the comics?

How about a 5-v-5 arena fighter? Something like Anarchy Reigns but faster and flashier.

No way could they pull that off on this budget. This is recycling assets from a mobile game; the gameplay only looks good because they got people who care about fighting games to make it.

Drakkon is alt. universe Tommy if he stayed evil and had both the Green & White Power Coins. Ranger Slayer is Kimberly from that universe. Mastodon Sentries are footsoldiers Drakkon makes out of the Black Power Coin, hence why he has like 4 more show up for his super. He's probably fodder for the story mode.

The game will launch with 15, we only know 9 right now. The budget on the game is clearly really small, but the mobile game's tie-in event features the quote "base roster" so they clearly have post-launch characters planned, which makes sense.

Marvel Infinite looked worse than this with its ugly faces and horrible lighting at what was probably 50x the budget of this game or more (although this game has the benefit of every character either wearing a helmet or being a monster). Even then Marvel Infinite on a gameplay level was decently fun but unbalanced, while everything about BftG's systems seems well thought-out by cl0ck. They even fixed the excessive hitstop that people complained about in the first gameplay trailer.

It looks a bit worse but BftG sidesteps ugly faces because everyone is in helmets except Goldar who is ugly (Nemesis looked fine in Infinite for comparison). I played and enjoyed Infinite for a month but everything about it feeling rushed and shit-out besides the systems (not even the balance of the systems; Active Tag had some oversights and the Stones were incredibly unbalanced compared to one another) made me drop it. Shame, Sigma was one of the most fun characters in the entire series.

I'm hoping Goldar can fill the big body role well in this game. The anti-air wallbounce grab is doing things for me.

Character balance, yeah, after the patch that nerfed Dante/Dormammu. System balance, no. Active Tag during supers was basically burning 1 bar for 3-5 free mixups depending on the team. Active Tag "combo breakers" were risky and needed to be placed in the right moment or else they were shit,but they cost half of your max meter to use. Reality Stone shit on the other 5, Space & Soul were solid but were countered relatively easily, Power & Time were basically gimmicks, and Mind was so fucking unusable that I refuse to believe they tested it before shipping.

Maybe they could just do a mode change thing between Armed Red Ranger and Gold Ranger, where Red is offense-oriented with the sword and dagger, and Gold is defense-oriented with the giant restrictive chestpiece and scepter.

Since Green Ranger V2 is a skin, I wonder if other characters will have different skins too. Ranger Slayer can easily have a regular Pink Ranger skin, Jason could probably have a Gold Ranger skin if they changed the particle effects for his attacks, and I can see White Ranger, Red Zeo and Black Dino skins for Tommy as well.

People don't realize how ironically detrimental esports is to new fighting games. They just wanna play their Street Fighters, Tekkens and Mahvels for years on end, because stagnation is the key to success these days. It's a good thing EVO's been adding more variety in recent years, but it's still a good ways away from being perfect.

The PS2/Wii Rider games felt more like Tekken-lite than anything. Climax Fighters and Climax Scramble are definitely arena fighters though.

The whole reason behind Ranger Slayer and Mastodon Sentry is that they make Kimberly and Zach/Adam easy inclusions as model swaps.

The thing that will cause this game to live or die though is voice acting. If they can't get anyone except JDF and the Yellow Mega Force ranger to voice themselves then I give zero fucks about this game. Power Rangers games with voice acting have always been cast by fucking nobodies and it's always really offputting. Especially that one for the PS2 that had Yuri Lowenthal but somehow didn't have JYB when they're basically in everything that the other is in?

You know what would be kino is if they could somehow bring Bulk back to play Kyoryu Cyan.

Hasbro owns the IP now, and I don't think they care. It's probably 50% making sure there's popular characters (so a lot of MMPR and comic characters based on MMPR), 25% making sure they can reuse a Legacy Wars model because of costs (overlaps with the first part), and 25% who would be good in a fighting game (the moment Kat got announced I knew she was a rekka character; the animations are straight-up Mature/Claw Iori-style too).

I'd like Psycho Ranger Red if there was. In Space had great characters but I don't know if they'd make cooler fighting game characters. At least the Psycho Rangers would be somewhat interesting; maybe Psycho Red could have the other Psychoes do run-ins and he'd be the game's Ginyu.

M8 they added Katt Manx and Magna Defender. Basically anything is on the table except probably Cole from Wild Force due to murder and Trini from MMPR due to dead.

anyone know if dash has a macro like mvc, because from the gameplay they dash a fucking lot. If I have to do this with foward/foward I will be fucking angry.

To me, it seems like it's taking heavily from BBTag in its tag mechanics but with a lot less visual noise to allow for the 3-character teams to not completely flood the screen. The meter system reminds me of Street Fighter X Tekken (3 stocks; EX cost 1, Supers 2), and the combo structure is a bit reminiscent of Skullgirls (although that comes to mind primarily because I watched Max's video where he watches the stream and that's where he went first) with all the rejumps and routes that can lead to resets. Looks like a lot of fun to lab and play with friends. Crossplay will help the online a lot.

I hope Super Megaforce, the worst season in the franchise, isn't the only one from the Neo-Saban era that gets a rep. Even other weak seasons could at least have a fun fighting game character (like Ninja Steel Gold).

A year or so ago. Ryu (and Chun, Guile, Bison, etc.) were put into the PR mobile game (one of those "fighting games" on mobile where you press buttons with specials on them and have flashy things happen that feels more like an active-time RPG than a fighter). Ryu got a morphed look and then they made a short film where Tommy, Super Megaforce Yellow, Ryu, and Chun-Li fight off some alien monster thing.

Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile, Cammy, Akuma and M. Bison were added to Legacy Wars last year, and then they also added Ryu Ranger sometime after that.

It tried combining Goseiger with Gokaiger because Toei wanted a Goseiger adaptation despite Saban only wanting Gokaiger. Then fucking Jonathan Tractor made the main cast purposely act like cardboard for some god forsaken reason. And lastly, the Gokaiger footage was hastly edited in a way that kept the Sentai-only rangers in, which probably confused a ton of PR-only fans.

At the very least, that last part is sorta retroactively good since that means the games and comic can use those pre-Zyu teams now sorta.

When Toei got the licence to make Spider-man they also got Captain America but they decided to make Captain America a woman and added Captains form other countries.

Zeo was more or less my first PR (barring infrequent MMPR episodes) and still my favorite. It felt like Power Rangers had finally found that perfect balance of camp and seriousness.

Then they regressed back to the original level of stupidity with Turbo. Space tried to make up for it, but the damage was done.

One thing that came in absolute conflict with their attempts at continuity was Saban being a penny-pinching master of burning bridges. Half the actors who worked in Power Rangers ended up hating the experience. So they wanted to establish continuity, but did literally nothing to entice actors to actually want to return.

Active Tag being free mixups is true, especially for WS, but everything else is pretty wrong with the current meta. Counter-switching actually balances the amount of mixups because getting hit doesn't guarantee death anymore, Space and Soul are actually the strongest stones in the game now, while the rest (except mind) are usually for covering character's weakness (the second best player in Japan uses frank west/monhunter + reality, which is a mid-tier comp at best). There's busted shit in mvci but none of it is that.

They don't need to make it anime-like like their other games, but they would be perfect for making the Rider's attacks look super flashy. I feel most other Kamen Rider games feel too slow, ASW could make a very fast-paced KR game ever without needing to do the anime style.

I want Ransik. (He technically doesn't even lose. He gives up)
His moveset would be so amazing. He's got sword, projectile blasts, a nullifying grapple, side-arm blades, super armor.
They could give him a meter, that if he overburns his meter you have to do a move where he uses syrum capsule (but he only has like 3 per match), else he can't do anything.
Hell I'm sure the guy that plays ransik would voice for him. He loves being Ransik.
