any point in getting the slim instead of the pro?
don't own any consoles as of the moment and no 4k TV either.
Any point in getting the slim instead of the pro?
what games?
all of them? Literally everyone has a PS4 dude
>no 4k TV
no point
the ps5 will come out next year and that's actually a 4k console
The point is to save ~$200-$250 while getting to play all the same games that you could on a more expensive Pro
Post the games you're buying a PS4 to play and I will tell you if a Pro is even worth considering if you don't care about resolution
How slim is it really?
Has there ever been a truly slim variant of a console besides the Ps2, which went from computer-sized to frisbee-sized?
Generally better framerates, that's about it. I mean if you cared about framerates you wouldn't be buying a console, but still.
if you can’t name 3 games you want to really play on ps4 then don’t bother wasting your money kid.
>How slim is it really?
It's almost as thin as its library.
Which 4k TV has less input lag?
Alot of games really fucking chug on the base Bone/Ps4 these days
Ace Combat 7 simply cannot keep up
>Ace Combat 7 simply cannot keep up
what
Only a couple of games have meaningfully better framerates on the pro vs the base PS4
t. Pro owner
base xbone is not equivalent to base PS4
The gap between the slim and pro ps4s is nowhere near as big as between the xbone and the x
Ace combat is closer to the exception than the rule
The Pro tends to run games a lot better from what I hear.
But whether or not that's worth the extra $100 is up to you (For me it isn't so I just went with the slim)
>Only a couple of games have meaningfully better framerates on the pro vs the base PS4
This is a complete lie, benchmarks almost always show better framerates on the pro unless the game in question is capped to 30.
xbone version runs at ~40fps, ps4 version runs at ~50fps and the pro versions both run at only 1080p
Nope you're wrong. Majority of games benchmark at the same or very similar framerstes with the major difference being resolution. Most games capped at 60 run at 60 but in lower resolution on the base PS4. Same goes for games capped at 30fps, there are a couple of exceptions but generally the PS4 pro runs games at higher resolution as that is what it's designed for, not higher framerates. And that's a fact.
Bloodborne
Persona 5
Horizon 0 Dawn
God of War
RDR2
LOU Rem+2
Gravity Rush
Bound
The pro is a noisy piece of shit. Play a game in fake 4K click whirrrrr also not many games take advantage of the extra power. if you do get one buy some good headphones
the ps4 to pro upgrade isn't that big, DMC5 runs almost at a stable with ocasional dips during extreme close ups or during the finish of fight slow mo effect.
It's not an absolute tragedy like the Xbone where you really need to upgrade to an X now even if you only game at 1080p
Almost none of those games run better on the pro than the slim outside of resolution. I would still get the pro since the first party games you listed benefit from higher fidelity even on non-4k TV's since you can upscale (except for bloodborne) but if you're looking to spend extra to get a better framerate in those games don't bother.
>slim 200$
>pro 300$
THIS EXAMPLE
>bloodborne
>slim = 10fps
>pro = 15fps
>pc = 60fps
>horizon
>slim = 20fps
>pro = 25fs
>pc = 60fps
>gow/spiderman
>slim 30fps
>pro 30fps
>pc 60fps
newer pros aren't that loud. they switched the fan out for a quieter one that's not quite as efficient. they went overboard with making sure it doesn't overheat initially.
Pro is $399 MSRP. Even on sale it hasn't gone lower than $300
Slim is $299 MSRP but goes on sale constantly for way less than the pro. On BF the slim was $200 bundled with Spider-Man and I've seen it go for as low as ~$160
Dude, you know how many times they redesigned the PRO since 2016? Like 2 or 3 times. The new ones even use the same power cord that the PS3 and PS2 used. And they're literally whisper quiet and run way less hot. Barely any heat. Never buy a new console on release if you don't want boned.
That issue was fixed years ago faggot try to keep up
Latest Pro its quiet as an macbook pro sub 23dba even when running 4k hdr games or heavy games like bf1/5
>Nope you're wrong.
No I'm not, it happens with pretty much every game. Framerates are more stable even if they're capped on the pro. Sorry about your buyer's remorse but you're just posting bullshit and trying to deceive people.
>2019
>buying at msrp
None of those games are on PC. What the fuck are you even doing?
The Pro is completely worthless and it sounds like if it was gonna take off at any moment.
They are movies even a 5$ phone can run it on 60fps
>No I'm not, it happens with pretty much every game.
That's an utter lie, you're completely wrong. Most games do not run at a significantly higher or more stable resolution on the pro than the slim, including the majority of games mentioned Itt. To say otherwise is pure deception and misinformation on your part along with your empty accusations of buyers remorse.
There are some games that do have a significantly better/more stable framerate on the pro (ie ace combat, mhw, nioh) but "it happens with pretty much every game" is a flat out lie. You're treating the PS4/pro as if they're interchangeable with the xbone/x when that simply isn't the case.
Go back and read the post again
It was never fixed, the newer pro revisions use the same cooling system as the original pro. The reason the older pros sounds loud is because of wear and tear. A constantly used pro bought last year is going to sound just as loud two years from now as an old pro sounds today.
Most games do not run at a significantly higher or more stable *framerate on the pro than the slim
I got a slim a couple years back on Black Friday and only recently upgraded to a pro for $200. I think that was okay
You ended up paying more than you would have if you just bought the pro in the first place
>it was fixed faggot just look at the teardiwn of the new models
>also mines 2yo and still cant hear it even at night
If you look at the teardown you can explicitly see they never changed it dumbass
>>also mines 2yo and still cant hear it even at night
and my 12 year old 360 that I play every day never RROD
Yeah you’re probably right, oh well
