5's combat might be seen as better because they added so many moves but I would argue that adding so many new moves doesn't necessarely equal to overall better combat if the enemy AI isn't tuned up for this increase of options.

Tying V's dodge to his pets is a legitimate "what the fuck were they thinking" decision in game design. Combat is a clunky mess on harder difficulties. Plus the ass camera circling all over the place makes it impossible to reliably pull off some moves (like Griffon's back-to-forward square move). Game is a 9/10 otherwise.

Once Bloody Palace comes out then 5 is the best one for me.

After you complete SoS you unlock a skill for Dante called Irregular full custom I believe which makes you able to equip, or unequip all weapons at the same time.
Then you can either Royal Guard through the mission, or if you have Super Dante then go into Sin Devil Trigger because you have infinite DT meter so you can enter it every time you fall out. Can you Sin DT without DSD equipped?

Nobody is saying that, the physical sales in Japan and the UK sucked, but nobody buys physical there anyways, and it still topped charts in uk for a bit. It outsold RE2 and did almost as well as MHW somehow on pc, Capcom has said they're extremely pleased with it. Sales are probably somewhere in the 5 million range if it did better than RE2RE since that sold 3.5 total on all platforms with strong pc sales.

Okay so like user said I think that's agreed between all of us. As for design, Jack Pott has to look like DMC3 Dante, coat, no shirt, cowboy pants and boots, lots of tattoos (cowboy themed?). With Nero just equip Tomboy and parries become very easy as well because of the Bloody Queen move, then you just DT and launch normally into a buster then buster on the ground.

DMC3's first playthrough is properly difficult throughout whereas 5 is too easy on DH with only one difficult spike, and 3 also has better story and Vergil fights. DMC5 really dropped the ball for latter in particular: Vergil's moveset, the music, even the emotional load are all inferior which is doubly worse since we're talking about the final boss. Apart from those complaints I'd say 5 is easily the best game in the series though due to sheer mechanical variety: Dante's even better than before, they actually managed to make Nero really fun to play and while V feels underdeveloped (could've used unlockable summons etc.) and lacks both the responsiveness and variety of other PCs he feels very unique to play.

Nah, DMC5's plot relies entirely on fanservice appearances with almost nothing of substance and suffers from too big cast so it doesn't really have time to develop anyone properly. All of Nero's character development is crammed into literally one phone call at the end of the game with him still being pissed about 4's events, or suddenly wanting to have a father get brought up literally for the first time. DMC3 really benefited from having a smaller number of central characters and being able to pace all their arcs and develop them to their proper conclusions. Not to mention DMC5 just recycles Vergil's plot from 3 and even the fucking ending with minor variations, so it's bad for being derivative as well.

V's already fairly easy, allowing him to dodge freely without giving up his offense would make him even easier. The whole idea behind his gameplay is that he's reliant on his summons and making him rely on them for his offense and defense suits that fine without making him even easier than he already is.

I don't think it does really, you can still maintain an offense even when you're dodging with the summon you're not dodging with, so it never feels like you're at a complete standstill, and slowing down your offense a bit when you're going on the defense feels natural.

DMC3 level design was one of its weakest fucking aspects. I really, really don't care about doing shitty exploration with lots of backtracking and no real sense of reward in the game where the main appeal is combat.

Of all of them, only one i can give you is Vergil being alive, i am guessing they are saving it up for when he is DLC but it's been like 20+ years since DMC1 and we really don't know what happened to him there, Dante defeated him, he turned into smoke, and was never heard off again.

Did he seriously spent around 20 years as a hobo going from place to place until he felt the Yamato close? was he in hell until just then and took the chance of Fortuna being a prime place for demons to escape? that is the only thing that bothers me about the game

Most of that is literally nitpicking and has nothing to do with the narrative. When it's important for Nico to appear they set up the fact that she had help getting there via Lady and Trish.

Vergil was set up to be alive prior, but as a stand alone narrative it doesn't matter because he's just introduced.

Nero's demon blood was also established, this is not a plot hole. His hand doesn't merge with his prothesis, it breaks off first, later it's a glove prototype, they tell you this.

Yamato is a sword of severing dimensions, I'm fairly certain tehy mention this within the game, albiet not terribly well explained. Dante extrapolates that if Vergil's sword separates then maybe his does the opposite, and it turns otu he's right.

As much as I love 5 I have to admit the ending felt very rushed and had not much impact like DMC3, it was all fanservice. Also I never really liked Nico. I found some of her lines funny but as a character she never grew on me. Griffon filled the purpose of banting character much better than her, and I actually felt bad when he died.

Nevertheless, I rate them pretty close together though 3 still has a soft spot in my place.

Here's the thing, as a stand alone narrative, it works within the plot. In the overall story it still makes sense, but it's a bit shitty to work with because Itsuno couldn't set it up properly with half a budget and half the dev time.

Parry them. Shooting at them is fucking dumb.
Time your own attack when they attack to knock them off balance, then walk up and launch them and buster.
You can parry them with pretty much every melee attack and some attacks are a very easy parry (Bloody Queen Tomboy) or 100% guaranteed (Ice Age KC)

It's surprisingly easy, just ignore the visuals and do it as soon as you hear the VWOOOM.

Urizen wasn't really Vergil, and if it was up to him he would've stopped him, which is something he wound up doing, in fact the first thing he did after getting equipped was go after Dante to get him to stop himself. Him ripping off Nero's arm was done because he had no idea Nero was his son, jsut that he was a powerful demon who had Yamato and could kill him in one hit at the time. He was also horribly tortured, rotting to death, and already almost dead, so he didn't think clearly until he separated himself from the rot. Him killing people in 3 he ought to answer for though, unless that was Arkham? I hear it was both or one of them.

I think they could've improved Vergil in 5 by making him a tad bit faster. Also his Sin DT was a huge wasted opportunity since they didn't even give it a proper moveset. It has a really cool Devil Bringer takedown animation with Nero, but the attack itself is just lazily braaping around the arena while making swoops every now and then. While it hits like a truck if you fuck up, overall it feels like a breather that something such as a final boss shouldn't have.

Nobody ever said Nero was much of a logical thinker. He's even more of a blockhead than Dante ever was. Although I suppose Dante actually is surprisingly clever, he just hides it behind his wacky wahoo pizza shenanigans.

Vergil is a massive autismo, but he also likely has a sex drive of some kind.
It's not impossible for him to have had a one night stand with a prostitute.

I like that they expanded on this a bit with the knowledge that Dante and Vergil didn't even know he was a demon until after he was gone. So Vergil decided to look around and find out all the legends of Sparda to experience his father through proxy. Dante probably heard most of the legends too, but ended up hating them.

I still find it funny that while everyone has heard of Sparda, most don't consider him to be real, even with actual historical records showing that something happened and Sparda's name being recorded in actual annals and not just from myths. Governments know that demons are real and it's covered up, while citizens don't believe in them except for a minority.

Just play the game in human and repeat, there is quite a few missions that have nothing in them so you can just blast through them.

The only problem I have with charge shots is that some actions cause the charge to be lost. So I'll double down, go to shoot and just get High Shot instead. Very frustrating.

Well, no one ever knew what happened in Mallet Island and Vie de Marli. Temen-ni-gru is harder to cover but you could say no one entered the place so they only ever saw a weird tower appear and disappear in a few hours. Fortuna was wary of strangers and no one has a solid grasp of what happened there even 5 years later.

I feel like I have to master all of his weapons and styles at once and the switching is a pain in the ass at times. I haven't been able to play him since DMC3. I still like him, but it's going to take time to get used to him again. I can play everybody else pretty well except for him.

Honestly I really don't think it's necessary to get yourself to the point where you master all his weapons. It's a good skill goal to have, but you can style a ton without doing so. Like I barely touch King Cerberus and Coyote, while mostly using DSD, Cavaliere, Dr. Faust, and Double Kalina Ann, and I have a great time, while also racking up style points. I'll throw in some Balrog and E&I here and there, too.

Also I'm not sure if you know or not, but you can choose not to equip weapons if you find switching too often to be annoying. Like if you just want to stick with a 2 sword/2 gun layout like 3, that's not a problem. I think the only weapon you absolutely have to keep is Rebellion/Sparda/DSD for plot reasons, but even those you can take off later.

Can you swap nero's arms mid combat?
And can you play as any character during missions once you beat the game?

Both V and Urizen are halves of the same guy who decided to try to open a portal to hell in 3, and while they were obviously going for redemption arc with former trying to right the latter's wrongs, you must remember they're still halves of the same person, even if they're his good and evil extremes. What's really funny is that the cover story for what happened on Fortuna was an Earthquake. While the people there won't talk to outsiders much, even a journalist was able to figure out that it was demons and their failed Savior that did shit after he contacted Nero.

I just wonder what is going to happen now. This was a major incident that took over a month to get cleaned up, millions of people died, thousands of demons were able to come through the portal that the tree had been using. Redgrave and the surrounding cities will never recover and those that were able to escape would surely tell everyone about the demon attack, since we even heard it on the radio. Demons aren't just going to be myth anymore and governments are going to be unable to deny it, lest the people lose faith in them. DMC will probably see a lot more business now.

Given the order of the sword requires high level operatives to be faithful I could imagine Vergil was denied access to the holy libraries to which Nero's mom offered her services. This favor led to sex, and Nero being dumped was probably something to do with her position in the order, that's the most sense I could see that making.

It has the curayzee in terms of the actual weapons, but 5 didn't have nearly as many scenes as 3 did where flat-out nutso shit like the run down the side of Temen-Ni-Gru or the opening fight scene in the office happens.

Faust is crazy fun. It doesn't have a lot of moves, but the moves it does have are great, and getting good at the hat catch will give you almost a quasi-Snatch for Dante that can affect multiple foes at once, does big damage, and gets more red orbs. Faust in gunslinger is excellent when you're surrounded.

He had it before he even met Trish. Then he later took it off after he met her.

You could replace Kyrie with a mannequin that has a wig ducktaped to it & had 'Kyrie' written on it's face with a sharpie, and she would be just as good of a character.

3's legitimately the best besides 5, if you gave me a choice to pick any dmc but 5 to play I'd chose DMC3SE first and DmC second because 1 is a concept, 2 is incomplete bad but funny, and 4 is also incomplete despite having great gameplay but with shitty levels and enemies sans bosses.

Graphically 3 hasn't aged well at all, but the gameplay, bosses, enemies, and most stages are more than solid. I don't blame anybody who rates 3 above 5 honestly, it's the watermark for teh series barring 5 and they're btoh pretty close. DMCV is what 4 should've been had it the proper resources.
