There's no life sim or city-building elements. Each store is just a vessel for some collection side quests. It was a little disappointing in that regard. That said, the dungeons were fun and there are a lot of neat mechanics there, and combat is decent. Being forced to switch party members constantly mid-dungeon in the late game really wears thin fast though, especially since it's a trip back to town. Also fuck the book shop.
