Horse show isn't just some one off passion project, it's a long established franchise that will continue. It's just that it's been garbage until just now so it doesn't FEEL like as an enduring franchise as, say, Transformers (which MLP is currently making Hasbro more many than btw).

Ironically the reason the horse show has endured like this is that it never really punched above its weight class. It never tried to be much more than a lighthearted fantasy comedy about friendship with pony girls. It didn't try to be a stupid show about magical lesbian space rock acceptance or build up an atmosphere or tidbit mysteries only to dump it all at the end.

It just stuck to its guns.

The best part about this game is that it takes place before any S3 bullshit

Season 3 was garbage because it was short, rushed, meddled with, and was the staff transitioning away from having Faust to guide them. Season 4 was them returning to form. Seasons 5 6 and 7 arguably surpassed S1 and 2.
