>still no release date
when can we expect the best platformer of all time to release? all we know is 2019
Still no release date
Silksong is coming out in 2019?!
There's no release date for Silksong yet
(Kidding bro I love Ori too.)
Super Mario World released back in 1990
Tropical Freeze is already out user.
But really will Ori have actual combat this time

Hollow and Voidpilled
Probably an E3 announcement user. Let's hope for a good show this year.
I was hoping they would maybe announce it yesterday on the xbox stream. Well, at least they announced that MCC is gonna be on steam so Ori is likely to be on steam on launch too. I was thinking it would be a timed exclusive on the microsoft store, but looks like it probably wont be the case.
Ori and the blind forest has to be one of my favorite games of all time, but I'm really skeptical to see a sequel
I just kinda seemed like its own story, y'know? Not really much room for expansion, I'm worried that a sequel will tarnish what's already there unecessarily
>Ori and the Blind Forest is great platformer but weak metroidvania
>Hollow Knight is great metroidvania but weak platformer
>I wish I could get mix of Ori's platforming with Hollow Knight's metroidvania elements
>Ori and the Will of the Wisps will improve metroidvania elements of Ori
>Hollow Knight Silksong will improve platforming elements of Hollow Knight
we're in for a threat :)

>Hollow Knight is great metroidvania but weak platformer
It appears there will be:
>spear melee
>spear throwable
>bow and arrrows
>sword
I didn't see bash though and I hope they kept it in a new game.
I seriously can't wait for either game. Gonna be a good year for Metroidvania fans if both release in 2019.
I get what he means. Whereas Hollow Knight has some really precise platforming it lacks the momentum and physics of Ori. They're both good in their own rights but something like PoP would be impossible with Ori's physics.
>it lacks the momentum
And that's a good thing. Leave the sluggish momentum for cinematic AAA games. Platforming is about precise movement. Ori didn't have any exceptional platforming sections either. There were those temple escape sequences with instant death and some pretty cheap trial and error traps, but those weren't really as intense as the game tried to make them out to be. Ori looked pretty, can't take that away from it, but it's not a very developed metroidvania or a hardcore platformer. It's, well, a fairy-tale to enjoy.
I guess the Donkey Kong Country games are shit platformers too? Having momentum in your platforming is bread and butter for making your game fun. Ori was definitely lacking in challenge but that doesn't mean "sluggish" momentum makes a game a cinematic experience. Moving around in Hollow Knight just isn't very fun and I say that as someone who thinks it's one of the best games ever made.
You're confusing a general side-scroller action adventure game with a dedicated "platformer" like SMB or Dustforce.
I fail to see how that's relevant. You said platforming requires precise movement which is completely untrue. Not that having momentum and physics necessarily means that platforming can't be precise.
Then I in turn fail to see how
>Ori and the Blind Forest is great platformer
>Hollow Knight is weak platformer
You seem to just throw around the word without a concrete idea behind it.
I think you need to read the posts you're replying to because I never said any of that.
Don't reply to me or my posts ever again.
Fuck you buddy.
>lacking momentum is a good thing
you can pull off more shit with momentum in ori, you have abilities, mixing and canceling them, ori is more open than HK so you can utilize your abilities more than just running around in tunnels
