So what glitches have you guys seen in your plays? Hadn't had many myself beyond some camera hiccups, but not too long ago had some weird stuff in mission 3 where the grip pad near the orb statue wasn't triggering, the bodies of the orb-heavy bugs were just lying around, and even had the seal in the sewer battle remain even though I defeated every enemy.

Yes, if you can learn the right lessons from them. Dante plays rather differently starting in 4, but the biggest lesson you need to learn is the application of each one. With Nero, you're doing the move, and it doesn't really matter which one, if you do it well. With Dante there's a right tool for each job, and only certain moves will combo into each other or juggle well for certain enemies, so knowing what to throw out is the most important thing.

That and Royal Guard. Git gud at Royal Guard, but you can do that in 5 easier than 3 or 4.

Playing 3 will help since it will give you time to practice each style separately. Dante also feels a lot better in 3 than in 4.

Seems logical, but I wish it were still somewhere with instant access. I'm so used to Rebellion only having two combos that I don't even think to delay after the second attack.
Imagine... Prop on the same input as High Time. If you hold triangle to jump up with High Time, it's the same as usual, but if you only tap, it automatically transitions from the High Time swing into Prop.
I think that would have been great, and would have effectively allowed the entire Swordmaster moveset (besides Dance Macabre, could have made that a stick rotation or Forward-to-back motion) to exist on a single button.

Even then, Dante's Summoned Swords are fucking amazing, more than makes up for the lowered access to Prop (especially since their High Times multi-hitting is Prop-lite). Hold the triangle button for a few seconds to spend two DT bars and you get auto-unga based on the style you're in.

Balrog Thrust Mode, just use Swordmaster and BREAKDANCE, stops their attacks every time. It's great.

That was really only in 4SE because they shoved some stuff from the Vergin DLC for DmC onto him. Namely the summoned sword teleports and additional combos that Yamato didn't have in DMC3.

Vergil incorporates Doppelganger moves into his Dark Slayer style, summoning a clone for just a moment to ping-pong enemies around and back to him as well as effectively fight multiple separate enemies at once.
Devil Sword Vergil. Yamato divides itself (it staying the same) and creates a smaller sword that has a design somewhere between V's Royal Cane and Force Edge. It's basically a permanent, far more powerful Summoned Sword that hovers by Vergil, its attacks mimic some of the physical/energy attacks that Shadow and Griffon have.

Chain with a bladed tip. Could function like a whip in some attacks, but could open up options for sweeping or slamming. Maybe a GET OVER HERE type of attack too. Probably some sort of element attached like lightning or fire.

The only bosses that Nero finished off were the giant frog guy and Sanctus. Dante didn't get any weapons from bosses in that game either, though. Honestly, demons turning into weapons doesn't really seem to necessarily be a constant thing. The only games where that happens are in DMC3 and DMC5. Even in DMC3, only Cerberus, Nevan, Agni/Rudra and Beowulf became weapons. Doppelganger and Horse became Styles. Giant centipede became absolutely nothing. A very large chunk of Dante's Devil Arms were just shit he found lying around.

A&R were already weapons. Cerb, Nevan and also Balrog wilfully submitted. Cavaliere got fused to a bike. Only King and Beo got taken by force. Overall the theme wil DAs seems to be that you need to make them submit to you, which kinda doesn't fit Nero's character.

In case you're playing on PC, you need to make sure you have constant FPS. My game stutters a lot and it makes getting max-act absolutely random for me. If you're playing on console just learn your timings I guess, it's not rocket science, just hit it at a certain moment during every attack.

There was something just so good about the cutscenes, even the ones where they're doing superhuman shit still looked like they had weight to them that made them look 'realistic'

Any devils Nero defeats, his Devil Bringer used to absorb them in DMC4 to expand its abilities.

Nero has always preferred his Red Queen and Blue Rose over everything else because he custom-designed them himself. Queen was built upon and upgraded from the Order Sword Durandal, and Rose was a revolver he built almost entirely from scratch. As absurd as they are, the two are still completely "conventional" weapons in that they do not have any kind of demonic material in their construction.
The only way he'd use a new weapon would be if he made it himself. Only Nico's Devil Breakers are an acceptable substitute for his once-lost Devil Bringer.

Pausing during mission 18 with coop sometimes makes the game think you haven't squashed the red root things so you can't go down the holes.

Each Ninja Gaiden game has about three actual weapons besides the sword, with you dropping one weapon for a more powerful version with nearly the same moveset (like trading Nunchuck for Flail and never needing Nunchucks again). Hayabusa's list of attacks are the same two combo sequences with a different heavy attack at the end depending on where you press Y after a number of X inputs. The list of unique attacks each weapon has are very few in number.

DSD also has Drive and Overdrive, which you can't get with the other swords. It also can do air launchers similar to Nero with sword master, something Dante hasn't had before. It's honestly pretty great, the only thing bad about DSD are its aesthetics and the way it fucks with my muscle memory, and making Prop Shredder a combo but eh dual High Time, air Stinger, and being able to juggle with summoned swords makes up for it.

I'm using a DS4 but I'm pretty comfortable with using L1 or R1. I can feel out the timing better per attack over the trigger designs of R2 /L2.

The idea of Nero and Kyrie living together with a free-loading Vergil and Dante who spends way too much time at their place as they constantly get into fights sounds so amazing.

I just keep everything on mostly default, but swap gun with Breaker. You can swap Bringer with the Breaker hook for easy access, but I haven't personally fucked with that. Just use your middle finger to exceed while you crab Color Up

I've barely played these games up until now and I feel like I'm lacking with nero. can't seem to get much more than S style consistently but I'm only on mission 7 or 8 so I don't have all his shit yet.
I really don't understand the exceed system and the game does a really piss poor job of explaining it. all I can figure is "you press r2 at the right timing and then your next move does extra damage." is that really it or is there something I'm missing.

thats pretty much it, there's a few frames in each attack where if you press r2 you instantly get a stage of exceed
later on you can get up to 3 in just one swing with perfect timing

Every single weapon in NG2 has a unique playstyle, DMCtard. Same goes for NGB with a few exceptions.

Get MAX act if you want to git gud at the exceed mechanic.
The timing for it is less strict than it was in DMC4.

Oh yeah, how do you unequip all weapons? If I recall, Rebellion/Sparda/Dante and E&I can't be unequipped.

L1 because I got L2 for gun charging and when I tried having the gun charge at L1 with my index finger, my middle finger went absolute retard and couldn't even do exceed in time.

I'm really scared I'll ruin L2 trigger by holding it that much because I unwillingly put too much strength but fuck it, I can't find any other way to keep charge and exceed semi-consistently.

It's exactly that. It's kept vague so you try to experiment or learn the mechanics details. Anything and everything Nero does except breaker attacks can be exceeded, even the Air Taunt. Your attacks also gain different properties depending on the Exceed level.

Exceed is basically a system to squeeze out more damage and changes the animation of some attacks. The timing for it is based on when you actually hit an enemy and not any random part of the swing animation.

Don't spam the melee button and imagine 1 2 1 2...

I used to be able to max act in 4 perfectly every time, I can barely do it anymore now in 5. Is this my limit?

Just keep trying to max act literally everything and you'll get better at it eventually. The real challenge is realizing you got the MAX-Act and stopping your combo to do a level three move like Streak or High Roller.

DSD was almost ruined for me and I almost went back to Sparda except that Dance Macabre I believe is forward back style button and round trip is done by holding style down. It's a better round trip too since you keep youur sword. I just wish that the aerial combo was still on style and not melee attack because its a hard adjust after years of it not being like that.

Also I just realized there's a weird lack of area transitions in DMC5. I didn't notice it until rewatching this webm. It's welcomed.

Lucia is the only one without mommy issues, but that's because her 'mom' is an old bat who trainer her in demon killing and isn't dead.

What do you mean by "main cutscenes" The prerendered ones? Cause there were a bunch of thosse I loved. A lot in the beginning with Sundowner. The ones with Monsoon and Jack the Ripper, and the entire end sequence with Armstrong.
