I have a PC that could probably run the games decently but I'm going to stick to playing on my Xbone probably. Even if I did play it on PC I'd just use my Xbox controller since the idea of using a mouse and keyboard for Halo just seems weird.
I'm happy to see it finally come to PC though.

I think something similar happened around the time GFWL shut down. MS just gave up for a while and used Steam. If/when the microsoft store dies we'll probably see Forza, Gears and all the shitty games (Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2 etc) come to steam too

It's Doom with a story. Fun weapons, clever enemy AI, couch co-op, fissiks shenanigans. Story is actually good too.

When this was released for Console, how were people diversifying online gameplay between all the games? Cause with Reach being added, well...that's a shit load of different multiplayer games to play lol
Mostly concerning the original game:
a) Revolutionized console FPS games by inventing a control scheme that didn't completely suck ass
b) Wide-open outdoor levels and seamless integration of vehicles into FPS gameplay were both pretty fucking cool at the time and made for good multiplayer
c) Had a lot of interesting game mechanics like the weapon balance and health systems that made the game feel unique compared to the arena shooters and Goldeneye clones of the time.
d) Halo 2 was one of the first good online multiplayer console games
The sequels weren't really innovative in the same way, but they (the original trilogy, at least) were always a solid package. Good music, interesting story, good AI, one of the most feature-rich multiplayer experiences out there. It's a shame that so many developers shamelessly copied mechanics like regenerating shields and limited weapon inventories without copying the other design decisions that made those mechanics actually work.

Halo 3 had legendary multiplayer features. Just the map creation Forge mode and gametype customization together on a console game was and is(?) unheard of.
It ended up having so many crazy gametypes and maps you could fuck around with.

Far Cry Instincts and Far Cry 2 both had fully featured level editors before that. Forge only let you place objects. But it was exceptional still.

XBros how do the Master Chief Collection versions compare to the originals? Not that it matters since only 1 and 2 are on PC and I'm not even sure if 2 works right.
The remastered versions of 1 and 2 are pretty lazy botchjobs patched together from reach and 4 assets. But you get a switch for going back to the original visuals. 1-2 also were for PC in the first place, though without controller support. MCC Halo 1 is based on the PC port (lol?) which has a few additional bugs and oversights so it's not completely authentic. They also added terminals to both games which contain retcon lore.
The H2A Blur Cinematics are pure kinography however. Blur put 1000x more love and care into those than 343 did to the actual port.
3 and onwards are just uprezzed.
Halo 2 on PC works fine, you can even play multiplayer.

They technically haven't release their other games on PC because you have to use the xbox app on windows 10 to play them, and they have bare bone settings because since the bone is just a w10 machine they just make a 1:1 copy and throw it on the app since its w10 as well. Its still hindered by the xbone environment and only sort of kind of uses your hardware.
This is a full on PC release that will in theory work on any OS and take advantage of hardware and tweaks.

Protip: if you have windows 10, you already have an xbox live account, when you make the required microsoft account when windows 10 is installed or when you first turn on a storebought pc, it automatically makes a Live account thats tied to it, it gives you one of those wacky random names and flags the account for a free name change
