Because they're not the same Zelda and Link as normal canon. He's got his own canon, which manages to cram all the games into a semi-coherent story. It's pretty amazing. Veran forces Labrynna to invade Ordona Province to build a tower which is actually a portal to the Realm of Twilight which she uses to summon Zant's armies so they can march into Holodrum.
