These days our standards have slipped so low that it's easier to pretend that your female actress is totally in shape by showing dumb workout videos (e.g. daisy ridley for star wars, brie larson for captain marvel) than by actually making your actors get in shape (linda hamilton in t2, ripley in aliens, rare modern exception emily blunt in edge of tomorrow). Really sad, because you just can't suspend your disbelief when you see such an unathletic woman as this doomgurl pretending to be a spec ops badass or whatever. She's too weak to hold the prop gun properly and it drags her left to right when she runs for christ's sake.

That's not quite right, Dredd and The Raid were great action movies precisely because they paced their action well. Lengthy no-bullshit action scenes interspersed with clear talky sections for the viewer to take a breather.
