Well therein lies the problem. They don't seem to want to distribute games and instead want to play moral advocates. That's what people on all sides are taking offense with. Either all games of questionable content that isn't straight up illegal are allowed (and what games are illegal and what aren't is not a universal standard and is determined solely by the laws of the countries they are sold in), or none of them are. You can buy GTAV in some countries in Europe, you can't buy it in Australia or Germany, for example. Steam disallows you from purchasing them there. Introducing an absolutist policy like "This game is not to be hosted on steam at all, no matter the location" is going back on their word.

Violence is something that can't really be denied when it happens. Everyone recognizes that punching someone is a violent act, there's little to no ambiguity in regards to what is and isn't violent. Basically even if you accidentally did something violent you would still recognize that you did something violent.

Racism, Sexism, all the other isms (look I'm just using generic bad things alright?) have an ambiguidy to them and not everyone has an agreed upon definition of entails all of them. So sometimes it's possible for you to do something mean to other people you saw on TV but because you don't immediately recognize that you are doing something mean and the TV show did not frame said thing AS mean, you don't quite activate that same mental filter that you would usually do with violence because you don't even see the thing you saw on TV as something that could harm people.

Console physical sales for Exodus are up an almost irrelevantly small percentage over Last Light and 2033 which were both low sellers likely achieving 3 million or less sales combined total, while also having possibly three times or greater the budget. That's a flop. Exodus by all calculations has only sold about 2.25 million copies, and these numbers only apply to console. Not one single copy has been sold through Epic and Steam's pre-orders were only 50-100k more.
