sorry only nintendo baby gamers here

I was always bad at star control 2, but now I'm playing The Long Journey Home, it's sort of similar and it seems pretty fun this far
Here I am visiting an alien brothel

This particular screenshot looks cluttered as fuck, but maybe it could be interesting.
I'll have a look.

I tried but I didn't like how gravity fucked with my ship so I quit.

nice reddit artstyle

Star Control 2 is basically a Nintendo game though, because it has a memorable cast of quirky characters. It's like Paper Mario in space.

These guys are the fucking best. What a chad species.

How to play Star Control 2?

Excuse you?

Download "The Ur-Quan Masters" online. It's a free HD remake.
Start off by fooling around in the deathmatch mode until you have a vague idea of how combat works.
Once you've tried that out for a while, go into the main campaign, and head towards the Space Station around Earth. After that the world (or, galaxy) is your oyster.

there's a secret time limit be careful

>Dicking around, mining minerals, talking with ayys
>Get into combat
>Die immediately
Fuk

I want a Supox girl to jerk me off with her leaves/vines/roots

Play deathmatch for half an hour before single player. Try to understand how all the ships work.
Also don't rely on the Earthling ships forever, they're okay but not against everything, and DEFINITELY don't rely on the flagship until it's been majorly upgraded, literally every ship in the game will shit on it until then.

The Supox were criminally underused.

If memory serves well I did try it but for some reason it didn't click with me. The first game, however, I did play a lot. Almost equal parts melee and strategy modes. I guess that was my gateway drug to both spaceflight "sims" and 4X at the same time.

>don't tell me to go to /vr/, that board is fucking dead.
If only it was actually dead.

Sorry user, all the posters above the age of 16 went to 8ch

>It took 27 years for people to finally appreciate this game

Worst part is most people only know about it because of the legal battle.

Nonsense, it was featured back in EGM '95 alongside giants such as Mortal Kombat 2, Mega Man X and Donkey Kong Country. I remember being a kid and wishing I had a 3DO to play it.

Yeah I played it but for some reason I could never get secondary weapons to work. Something with DOSBOX was weird and I couldn’t rebind keys for this particular game.

Played it some anyway. Battlemode was fun. But the flag ship starts out so slow in single player, and you need to spend so much time mining resources on planets. Then if a crystal drone gets you you’re fucked.

Ended up just watching a playthrough to see what the game was like cause I got fed up trying to tinker with the technical bullshit and with trying to play without a secondary weapon key. Seems like a really neat game but that start was slow, and you sort of need to know where things are if you don’t want to wander aimlessly for a LONG time.

Cool soundtrack

Orz were the coolest race

And when stormtard screeching silenced everything deviating from the Great (National-)Socialist Party Line by even a tiny bit they left.

yikes
Most of the ships I tried felt like complete ass, but when the computer played them I always got my ass handed back to me.

>DEFINITELY don't rely on the flagship until it's been majorly upgraded
the flagship should be fully upgraded in all areas that matter before you encounter any real combat unless you are retarded.

>Ghosts of the Precursors is probably not going to happen, even if they defend themselves in court

Until you've got some overpowered bullshit like target seeking Hellbore Cannons, it's best to either avoid combat or get good with Fwiffo's Eluder

bump

I just tried out the open source version for shits and giggles, I had forgotten how fucking fun this game is. Too bad I wrecked my lander on Venus, forgot about those hazards, but I'll definitely have to play this later on today

I have and the music was great.
Same for the voice acting.

Thraddash had awesome music.

Is this a strategy or role playing game?

i want to fuck an orz in the gill
that's way too many crew pods, you can fit some more guns on there
eluders can carry the most crew, just move dudes from the eluders to the flagship after every battle

Something inbetween. Most of the time you fly around in space and gather resources, talk to aliens, do quests for them, sometimes you fight people.
