What Cemu does is much closer to creating a port on the fly than it is to emulation. It's not really trying to emulate the Wii U hardware, it's trying to interpret BotW as accurately as possible. This probably sounds stupid to you but it makes a huge difference and its' why the game runs at 60fps instead of 2fps, which is how fast an accurate Wii U emulator would be

I played the cemu version first, put 140 hours into it, loved it. Then I bought a Switch and spent 200 more hours on another two playthroughs (even though I didn't finish the Master Mode one, it was pretty shit). I enjoyed the Switch version more. No bugs, no glitches, no crashes (that was at the end of 2017, keep in mind), and handheld version was vastly superior. I just don't get those

There is a trick you can do to make it much less noticeable though. Whenever you get the "low on energy" notice, just put a travel medallion down, teleport back to the forest and start a trial, then teleport back. Bam, full energy.

If you wanted to play botw on CEMU at the same resolution and framerate a Switch does, you could easily build a budget PC for around $500-600. Heck, you'd probably be able to buy pretty decent parts with that money then what I'd consider ultra budget tier.

Probably frustrating for me to ask but did you change the compatibility options in windows properties and switch stuff around in whatever the AMD control panel is called? That and having the right graphics packs helps a lot. I'm assuming you followed the BSoD guide but not everyone does.

It's the AMD drivers, they never handled opengl well, I had an RX 480 that I switched to a 1080 and it fixed everything with no other hardware changes.

I don't think they have the kind of access or tools needed for stuff like that. Changing models or text lines just requires editing an entry in a database, but adding totally new objects or locations to the world or new scripted events would necessitate being able to recompile the whole game with none of the proprietary tools that were used to create it in the first place.

Fun fact: Few people who never had a Switch like to meme how screenshots from it look desaturated. Rarely anyone mentions why - it's because the Switch has a full RGB mode, and not using it correctly can make the image look like shit.
