I'm having some hard time on DmD and i love it, especially since it was so piss poor easy in 4
Mission 7 was legitimately kicking my ass to the point where i just stood around in my ass near the converging point of Nero and V's path just so the other dude could help me out in co-op, but then the guy died on his way there and i alone couldn't handle it. So i switched to V so i could get higher chances of teaming up with a good Nero, once again i was faster and had to wait for the guy but i could actually help Nero on the fight in the narrow pathway just before the converging point by shooting thunders through the wall with Griffon, then he finally joined me and we kicked some major ass
I'm assuming i'll have a similar struggle and will need some in help in mission 13 also

Anyways. On Exceed, it's really just about making it a habbit on attempting to add it into your combos. a lot of time, combos are planned out instead of just mashing.

it's a lot of practice, but eventually you should hit 90%~ exceed rate no problem, and from there max acting is just more practice

If you are killing enemies too fast then that's your problem. The rank goes by how long you have a high ranking this time rather than the rank itself

Some user was also saying the game calculates your rank by averaging your style points through the encounters. So you could have an SS for one encounter and on the way to the 2nd one you fight some ants or tentacles along the way and get a C/D. This fucks up your final result.

Put a charged bullet in them just as they appear. Its easier with some teleport attacks than others

enemy step to stay on the air and trickster / royal guard the attacks that can reach you
when you see him changing element trickster away
shotgun quickly destroys the electricity balls

Most of his melee attacks have a mid to low range in terms of high, so keep jumping on his head and attacking from up there to avoid any melee, once he's about to do his AOE blast which should be pretty obvious when he's about to do Trickster dash the fuck out of there, by the time you get close to him again he'll probably fire some projectile in between so instead of rushing to attack do run around a bit to avoid the projectile or do some royal guarding, there's no shame in just holding down block if you're not confident and have DT bars to spare

Love that track. It hyped me up in the beginning since it sounds like a prelude to the whole game after Nero gets his groove back with his breakers. Instead of just going straight into Devil Trigger, we get something downtempo'd first.

It's a little hard to get down consistently, but held back+melee witht he red queen takes you to an exact height that dodges the ground-targeted pink pillars, if you start aircomboing towards the end you have an effective dodge without breaking the string. side-air dodge out of the next, i don't know if you can enemy step next to the crystal in his shield phase, but it may be worth trying out. Most of urizen's bullshit can be cheesed by building height, in general.

For a move that consumes all the exceed gauges, the ex-divekick sure feels underwhelming compared to the rest. Wish it was more explosive.

Max-act timing is at the very start of ex-act, if you get just 1 charge you're doing it late, if you get the mini rev you're doing it early (or very late)

Also, a good way to get out of they combo if you get hit is use the Devil Bringer punch as it will knock them out. If you start to get combo'd by them all your bringer inputs will turn into the timed punch thing.

There's plenty of reasons SDT Vergil couldn't do the same. The main one being that's the only time we see Dante fighting with hatred.

Is there any good write-ups on interpreting DMC5's story? Feel like there's more nuance than I'm giving it credit for especially with how the whole story connects to the "Poison Tree" poem, but I feel like it came across as way too subtle and undercooked in the actual story, especially everything after Vergil's full return. I'm doing fine on DMD as anyone except for V. I didn't use a single Gold orb as Nero, even on bosses, and have gotten mostly S ranks on stages with him, but V is fucking nightmare and I've probably used about 4 gold orbs with him. Only two of them were for bosses. I like V's playstyle, but I hate playing as him on anything past SoS.

The ending feels like it has no stakes or consequences, they just fight and then everyone is just alright with each other, Vergil killed like millions of people in not London and Dante talks with him like he's just some normal bro.

The thing that motivates Nero to fight to protect Dante and Vergil from killing each other is the time he spent with V. He knows V is a good dude and has massive regrets about how he lived his life and, knowing that V is still inside his dad somewhere, endeavours do what he couldn't do for Credo - keep him safe. It doesn't matter to him that Vergil didn't even know he existed. It didn't matter that he never saw him, that he abandoned his mother. All that mattered to Nero was making sure the small family he had just obtained wasn't immediately ripped away again.

After reuniting with V, Vergil seems to be back to his old ways. He doesn't care about the Qliphoth wrecking shit, he doesn't care about the millions of people's blood that was drained by his demon side, all he wants to do is fight Dante again. That changes when he finds out about Nero. Knowing Nero is his son awakens the humanity him that we know is there because of V. He almost immediately drops the whole "killing Dante" thing (if i beat Nero I beat you ok dante) and after Nero proves himself to him, he immediately decides to destroy the Qliphoth. We see him later in hell, and he's talking and smiling like a person again. Finding out about his son has completely changed him - V is now the dominant part of him, not Urizen. It's not about power, it's not about vengeance for Dante being saved by Eva and him being seemingly abandoned - he's just having some fun with his brother in the Underworld.

Vergil was completely saved by Nero and it's beautiful

No. You'll need some upgrades for SoS. Just enjoy DH for the ride that it is. It's easy yeah, but take the time to learn parry timings and unlock some moves so SoS isn't a huge grind.

Anyone else a bit disappointed that there's not a whole lot of mocap action cutscenes? Is it because Dan and Reuben is getting older? DMC4 and DMC3 were choke full of Dante Nero and Vergil styling in the ingame cutscene, toying with enemies during their introduction.

What are some good combo strings for Nero on DMD? It takes me fucking hours to kill damage sponges. I typically do upward slash. hit, hit, diagonal forward thrust, and then shoot them a couple times while charging my sword.

I cheesed it by getting close to each threshold for all phases and then DT stinger spamming him, he takes so much dsmage during his knockback and there's nothing he can do. Also, if you don't jump parry his helmbreakers and flying dives you're missing out free damage for no reason.
