Not these days. UE4 makes that trivial. There are and have always been other things which can cost a lot as well. Factorio has a lot of optimization and is built from the ground up to function well for a game of its type, rather than being some generic slot-in UE4 trash. If you read through the factorio dev logs and genuinely think it has less effort then you've got problems.

Don't bother with solar. Coal or nuclear, maybe a bit of solar inbetween but don't use it primarily. The challenge with those power sources is ensuring a steady slow of resources and the pollution generated rather than just endlessly pasting solar blueprints so it's far more engaging.

Epic doesn't have "time played" but I played it all weekend and %70 of the game was locked. And that's %70 of an alpha. Exploration is a big part of the game as well.

Factorio excels at making you tackle a never ending series of small problems: after a while you only care about fixing your belts or making more iron plates, and after you shoot your first rocket you notice you barely scratched Nuclear technology and that your copper wires are bottlecoiling

Last I checked, Factorio was complete shit for multiplayer because of frame rate tied logic and sync, making the game stutter and lag like fuck at low framerates (caused by slowing the game down to keep things in sync)
