Ice is a shit type, it the worst type for a Pokemon to have. It offers no resistances other than to itself and has a crippling weakness to three extremely common attack types, fire rock and fighting, in addition to steel which may actually matter now that fairy is so common.

Ice attacks are useful, great for coverage, they hit flying, ground, grass and dragon-types for double damage, but you never want a Pokemon to actually BE ice-type because the type itself is fucking garbage.

No, part ice still bad because being part ice just means you have extra weaknesses you didn't have before while gaining only STAB to presumably a single attack and sometimes even losing resistances you had before as well.

Let's take water/ice, for example:

They were obnoxious, and I'd say the Thundurus alternate forme was probably suspect enough to be considered bannable, but they were not on the same level as the above. Allowing things like OHKO moves and evasion spam centralizes the game to the point where literally nothing but that and the direct counter-meta to that are viable. every match will be spamming eva or trying to stop it and spam your own, every match would be spamming sleep/freeze moves.

They don't ban stuff on a whim and contrary to the uninformed popular opinion they try to avoid banning things whenever possible.
