You're being too literal with the last two themes. I Want You makes more sense if you think about it from Kira's perspective, and Freek 'N You connects more to the change in art direction in that part. Araki spoke in interviews about eros being a big theme he consciously put into Part 5's art style, and the in that light the song choice makes plenty of sense.

I still don't think so, but we hit 99% close to it. The issue would be the fact all of this shit is SEGA jumping the gun but with NO CONTROL over it, unlike all that happened from ShTH to Secret Rings. All of those games happened thanks to SEGA's retardation under THEIR ideas. Boom the show ended up being liked, the game got rushed because of incompetence by SEGA, but the movie was originally meant to be by Sony, done by ACTUAL Sonic fans writing and directing the firm. But once SEGA lost the license to Paramount, all hell broke loose. This is just unfortunate, while 06 era was all SEGA's doing with no self awareness until after the fact.

Sonic had to make the jump to 3D like most big franchises, and Sonic Team didn't really know what to do. Sonic Adventure 1 in a few spots showed some of the same level design ideas from the 2D games in a more limited capacity, but starting in Adventure 2 the series became corridor runners. Sega and Sonic Team have just been letting Sonic coast since around the time Heroes came out.

Yeah I plan on getting Team Sonic Racing because its a fucking racing game and god damn that soundtrack is stellar, but Forces was just so fucking boring I don't care anymore. Mania was hugely/critically successful. So yes, people seem to like 2D Sonic gameplay quite a lot.

The 2D classic games have far more consistent quality than the 3D games, and the highest rated Sonic game is a sequel to the classic 2D style, which is Sonic Mania Plus.

Reminder that 3D Sonic has more good games than Classic Sonic.

Sonic 1,2,3&K, and CD, and that's it. Everything else in the Classic Era was crap, borderline unplayable. The only undeniably bad 3D Sonic games were Sonic 06 and Sonic Boom. All the others fall under personal preference.

Sonic Heroes is like Super Paper Mario in that fans have been beaten down and brutalized by sequels that were even worse, and so they've come to see them as decent by comparison, when in reality, they're still just not good games.

In terms of 2D games, I've played Advance 2 & 3 and really enjoyed them. They were literally my first Sonic games, so now I want to play the rest of the 2D games.
