I was in Tokyo when Gravity Rush Remastered and Gravity Rush 2 came out and the advertising was enormous. Giant signs in Shibuya, Akihabara, etc. Yodobashi Camera giving away big posters (they gave me 4 in Akihabara), exclusive playable "demos" (actually it was the actual game) in some stores, etc.

GR2's biggest flaw is not taking more advantage of Raven being playable.

All this talk about GR not getting enough marketing only proves that the series was too mediocre to stand on its own and therefore needed a marketing machine behind it.

GR2 is a complete single player game. You do miss some unlockables that are tied to dusty coins but that has no real impact on the 40 or so hours worth of proper content the game has. Online was a loss because it did add longevity to the game, it gave reasons to keep coming back. But rest assured, some cosmetics aside it is a content rich title without the online. That said, it absolutely was better when there was online, no doubt about that.

It is a complete single player game but there's not much to do after you finish every quest. Online stuff and a challenge dungeon of reused assets from the main game were all the post-game content.

People are right to give Sony shit for closing the online so early, especially since people pay Sony for online service, and the benefits provided from the online in GR2 were appreciable but not central to the experience, but the fact people give them shit about it whenever the game is mentioned also gives the impression to people who haven't played the game that the online is a large part of the games value, and that the game is therefore not valuable anymore.

It's still an amazing game. The online was leaderboards, player ghosts in missions and treasure hunts (which were essentially user generated "find the item" missions), the last of which were amazingly fun IMO and I sorely miss. But I can replay the game without them and still love it to bits.

Pretty much what said. The platforming itself isn't mind blowing, its how it uses the perspective of VR to use depth in creating its levels. Some of the challenge levels though, even if they're only a minute long for the gold reward, will be making you do a "pat your head, rub your stomach" act in balancing moving astro at a fast pace, while using your controller gadget. The game is a lot of fun though, and makes great use of VR. Even the bosses, a normal low point for platformers, are actually pretty good too.

The platforming isn't complicated, but it's still very tight and polished. Astro Bot is the most consistently polished PS4 exclusive in my opinion. The biggest thing I would've liked is the ability to switch between gadgets and design the levels around the use of more than one gadget. But I understand that would've been a tall order

I played the first game and wasn't too impressed. It was charming for sure but the combat was really boring, all the boss fights were terrible, enemy design was crap. Platforming around with gravity was kind of fun but I felt that if I paid full price and didn't get it "free" through PS+ I woulda been pissed. The final boss fights and the ending was definitely one of the worst final acts I've experienced in a video game. Didn't hear too much praise for the second, didn't really realize it even came out till the server "drama". So I didn't really bother and for some reason they decided to ingrain multiplayer elements in a single player game then shut down the multiplayer elements. So now I really can't find a reason to care about the second.

The only games that sold particularly well on WiiU were surefire hits and Splatoon. Your Super Marios, Mario Karts, Super Smash Bros., you know the list. Even though, don't really see how that would be used as the selling point of the game. GR2 might not have built itself entirely around the DS4, but it did go with the touch pad for changing the powers. Of course, a game really shouldn't try to build itself on just a control gimmick, that rarely ever plays out well.

I want to see Raven get expanded powers that stand opposite Kat's, like how Kat can make herself lighter and heavier? I'd like to see Raven make other objects lighter and heavier with some sort of AOE effect or some other. Maybe even have a battle between the two where using the opposite polarity of each other's powers cancel out to neutral OR double down if the polarity matches.

Would be nice if they got more variety to their attacks then just kicks.

I don't mind combat as is, it's suitable for how much it actually matters in game. I'd rather see more novel implementations of the shifting mechanics, see them have more of a nuanced effect on the world around them.
