If you want to take it out of the purely shooter realm then it's a new initiative, the Nazis recruited Werewolves so why not Hellsing or the whole Sera's turns someone and you do the odd jobs. Either way you could easily add investigation aspects of actually finding the target, picking the right target, properly gearing up and such even to a "you're a man with a life expectancy of a week at best, good luck."

Hellsing has some of the worst artstyles in anime and manga, Prove me wrong.

Symphony of the Night with the vampire stuff turned up to eleven, not necessarily a metroidvania, but 2D and gaining abilitites sounds good to me. And keep the atmosphere, make it really gothic, give me castles and darkness. I know people say vtmb is godtier, but it being modern puts me right the fuck off ever trying it.
Setting it in the past with you playing as Alucard could work, otherwise Seras probably. You might be able to do one as present-day Alucard though given you're introducing player execution into it, that could be the excuse for it not being a cake walk perhaps.

Yeah making a Hellsing game would be kinda tricky due to the type of characters just wandering around in universe. I could see a game set right after the manga where you play as Seras finally embracing what she is and learning the ins and outs of it being fun but in the end it'd still be mostly a shooter with some melee combat thrown in and random investigation sections.

Redline plays in a very bare setting while Akira plays in a very complex urban setting. You can stop at literally every frame and every single detail is amazingly looking, nothing is half assed. There are stone formations where every single fucking stone has accurate perspective and is detailed. Overall the urban setting allows for tons of amazing looking perspective.

Redline animates the characters and the movement better but overall Akira can't be topped when it comes to the whole package.

I like both, but both drop the ball. Hellsing TV was pretty cool and I like Seras doing her own investigation, but it had no idea how to end so it went full retard, and Hellsing Ultimate peaked really early with episode 2 and never really gained it momentum until the Integra episode, just to go limp again until the final Anderson fight.
Alucard is too op, but not in a fun way like OP man, Seras barely has any real struggles with vampirism for a good chuck of the story and all around just boring, Integra is easily the best character, but we get so little of her, and the this complaint is specifically for Ultimate, why even bother having the French mercs when they are fucking useless?

It's not bad enough that you'll drop it early on but bad enough that you regret finishing it. At least for me the story did exactly what I didn't want it to do at every turn. The combat is ass which sucks because you'll be interrupted by a gang of enemies every 5 steps. Which only gets worse if you don't keep the city healthy which is tedious by itself. There are a few characters around that seem to have some sort of side quest going on but those never seem to go anywhere so talking to people is basically a waste of time as well. Eventually I stopped giving a fuck, ate every NPC and rushed through the main story all overpowered from devouring everyone.

Just go full DMC and make the object of the game just going sicko mode for high scores. You start the game with a million extra lives and every single kill is a 1up. You get a non canon ending for actually losing all your lives to the last boss before he goes into his final form. It's also the happiest ending.

Hellsing Ultimate is considered much better than the TV series and one of my favorite anime of all time. But it looks like there are a few contrarians in this thread.

The series is a retelling for the first half then it goes off the rails because it ran out of source material, Ultimate is a direct adaptation of the manga.
