How's the DS remakes of the original games for a starter in the series? Should I just play the NES versions?

Haven't played the NES games, but the DS remake seems to be considered the definite version. It doesn't remove anything from the original, and just adds prettier graphics and more depth of gameplay. The GBA games and Path of Radiance are also good starting points for the serie. The 3DS games are good, but changed the formula too much, so they might not be a good place to start.

The SNES Fire Emblem are great, but hardcore.

The NES titles are horribly outdated. If you want to play FE1&3, get the bundle on the SNES. The DS titles are more "modernized" in a sense (supports, weapon triangle, forging, ect.), but the artstyle can be very off-putting for some. New Mystery takes this to the extreme with its Hard modes, with H5 and Reverse Lunatic being infamous for having enemies breaking the stat cap.

Maybe for you zoomers. Now that I think about it, a teacher is basically the most realistic kind of relationship I could have with 19 year old anime girls. It's only weird if you're outing yourself as underage because if you're a child yourself, you can't imagine being in the position of an older mentor to these kids.

I think it mite be cool if the original batch of students went on the become thieves, evil kings, pirates, etc. and the teacher encounters them much later in life while training younger students.

But we're almost certainly getting "medieval high school class kills god on spring break" anime bullshit.

The NA cover is the same but the special editions are different. Jap steelbook uses the church painting by the Nier:A artist while the eng version uses the goddess painting

I fuckin' love fire emblem, have played and beaten every western released game except for path of radiance because it's fucking expensive and hard to find, and am very much looking forward to 3 houses, choosing to remain cautiously optimistic and not getting my hopes up considering how little we really know about it.
Sacred Stones and Awakening are my favorites as far as mainline stuff goes.
Currently playing New Mystery, have also beaten Binding Blade as far as the Japan only ones go.
Honestly, I think all the bickering about new vs old fire emblem is pretty fucking stupid and wish people would just enjoy the games as they are.
