I have a lot of fun memories with Minecraft. Hell I still play it to this day (mostly dicking around in Creative).

because in 2007 it was a cool engine to drive/fly around in, see what you can create, and blow shit up. it was like garry's mod except with actually decent vehicle physics and an engine that actually lets you be creative

I've never really shared this anywhere, but as someone who played in 2007, Fireguy650 was the first Jaredvaldez4. basically, Fireguy was notorious for stealing peoples shit, not giving credit for them, and then getting even more popular off of them than the original creator. Pretty sure he stole burgly's flying buses and Zuka's ships. I loved Fireguy650's games and played his Flying Cops & Robbers every morning before school

SFotH is still up, right? I checked out Rocket Arena recently and apparently it's been closed for years. Really sad, that was fun as fuck and none of the clones of it have any players.

SFOTHO is dead. part of what killed it is that it was "locked pending moderation" or whatever for like, a couple years or so. Warms my heart to see that the remake of the classic Doomspires is still one of the most popular games on roblox. I wish that GFink or somebody would fix up some of the other, lesser known classics. Because it was basically a gateway into making your own vidya with a pretty simple level editor with lua integration. I wish I had the attetion span when I was 13 to learn lua and make a decent stage because developers now are paid IRL dollars and the top creators are supposedly paid pretty handsomely at that.

Anyone remember the game that had Lego's, AK 47s, and grenades and shit? There was a house level with nothing outside but the void and you could only build on base tiles. If was fun until it cost money, kinda like Gmod.

Went back to see how things were a few months ago, nothing feels user made anymore, it feels like people were paid to make the games.
Everything costs real money now, there are even in-game micro transactions.
The game would start lagging hardcore after a while and would cause my computer to massively slow down for a few minutes after closing.

OPO was THE shit, hands down. I see a lot of One Piece games inspired by one piece games inspired by one piece games inspired by our one piece game.

Yeah I'm lucky i kinda stuck with it as a side hobby. Scripting/ coding in general is a huge hurdle you can't force yourself to learn. You kind of just step into a positive feedback loop at random and feel compelled to learn when you've got a ball rolling.
Fixing snake's devil fruits was that for me; I made leaps and bounds in learning trying to fix shit/ make it 100x better.

Seems about right. Personally, nowadays I might try to emulate any shitty old simulator game. Focus more on wonky physics and tools with cool interactions with scenery rather than like efficient "back end" code.

Something like grappling your character around and pulling chunks of junk or gold out of a lake or something, or freezing water and walking on the frozen parts. Keep it simple and don't stray too far from regular roblox stuff (avoid overwhelming amounts of gui, don't take away a player's own character to shoehorn your own cosmetics in, but allow for some personalization such as custom pets and whatnot if you want)

You'd be surprised with how scuffed of shit you can get away with. To begin scripting I'd look up stickmasterluke's tutorials, but overall I found most help come from forums and asking dumb questions real quick to a friend I had who knew more than me.

It's tough to say what will get the balling rolling; like there are only so many lava brick tutorials you can put up with before you're fed up with not seeing any progress. I'd suggest playing with the properties of objects in Studio first and seeing how simple scripts can edit them.
