Literally nobody is saying that, what people are saying is that the ratio of good games to bad games has shifted in the past 13 or so years to where there are more games in the public eye that are mediocre at best, shit at worst than there used to be.

There was shit games on the PS1, N64, PC, PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox, yes, but there were also so many legendary games that to this day stand the test of time and you can go back to that are just as good now as they were then. You dont see games like Splinter Cell, Duke3D, San Andreas, Symphony of The Night, or Deus Ex anymore, they just dont happen. Those games stomp out 90+% of every game thats come out in the past 15 years, easily.

There was a period of time, starting around 1992-1993 and lasting to around 2006-2007 where there was an extraordinary concentration fo extraordinary games, this is the window of time where a majority of the greatest video games EVER came out.

The era after, and the era right now? They dont hold a candle. Theres good games, yes, but nothing like the sheer volume of game changers that came out in that 13-15 year period. Not even close.

MGS1, Symphony, Duke 3D, Shadow Warior, Doom 1 and 2, Deus Ex, Hitman Contracts, Silent Hill , Resident Evil, these are games ive only played in the past 5 or so years, not as a child, and they're just BETTER than most games now.
