The issues I have with G&W is that their down smash does not have nearly as much delay as it should.
Grabbing becomes downright impossible for some characters.

I don't know how anyone can find Sonic annoying when nearly every character ranked above him is a thousand times more annoying.
Dude cannot trade hits for shit, his aerials have pathetic range, spindash is beat out by just jumping or throwing out literally any projectile, the only move that's annoying is homing attack, except when it whiffs and gives you 600 million years to punish. My first thought is that top tier should be separated into 2 tiers since there's a huge gap between the top 4 and the rest. The second thing is that the low tier is way too small. Characters like Incineroar, Ganon, and K Rool need to be there. They're just heavies without strong enough neutral to back up being combo food and easy gimps. Doctor Mario is bottom 10 in the game for sure while Wii Fit is probably high tier because of how good her ledge camp game is. Regular Mario isn't so hot either. Ness is too easy to gimp and has way too many bad matchups to ever be high tier in this game. Everything else is pretty decent as far as tier lists go.

Your point is half correct. Nobody on Yea Forums is playing at the highest level but that doesn't mean tiers don't come into play at all. There are characters that will naturally have a harder time than others. The most obvious way to explain it is Brawl MK. Even if you're not pro you're still at an advantage. Now nobody in Ultimate is that broken but a lot of the top tiers do have advantages. Peach might ironically be the most honest top tier because of the execution she requires.

Definitely Snake, since most of the other zoners can't really kill without approaching in some way. He benefits 100% from never approaching. Look at the success of Salem and his playstyle-- just because Snake can box better than characters like DHD doesn't mean he wouldn't prefer just throwing shit at you. PacMan is a strong second just because so much of their meta involves literally running and putting up a wall.

Other contenders are Villager/Isabelle and the Belmonts, but in certain matchups they struggle once behind. Snake can continue to camp even when at a loss and find some success.

How would you buff him instead then? He's clearly not at a competitive level and he feels sluggish as fuck

You have NO ANSWER to Climhazzard from a player who isn't an invalid.

The problem with his reasoning is that he really doesn't put much weight into how many times a character must solidly win neutral when weighing that character's worth. Now normally this doesn't cause too many issues since good tools = winning neutral and getting rewarded. Inkling is a good example of a character who he sees as legitimately great but ignores/underplays the consistency factor with obtaining kills compared to the rest of the "top tier". Yes, roller exists, but it isn't consistent when compared to things like Wolf's aerials. Sure, this will shift somewhat as people hone their skill and understand what is and isn't safe and thus punish more cleanly, but so too will people start abusing inkling's recovery with long hurtboxes.

I sort of feel similarly about Fox. Fox is already tapping out of potential but hurts with consistency due to his weight combined with his need to get in more cleanly than any other character that high. All of the others have pretty clean disjoints on aerials. Fox has literally no answer to certain moves like Wolf's upB/nair with aerials of his own. He struggles with sword characters and dying at 40% while struggling to gimp himself (unlike Pichu who can rob stocks early) is putting him in a bad spot to stick at the top.

Now don't get me wrong, I think both of those characters are fucking excellent, but I also feel they are overrated and carried by misconceptions and, in Fox's case, the carry over from 4 since a lot of Fox's gameplan is similar enough. I just feel they are just below top tier.

cloud is one of the easiest characters for me to kill as basically any of my mains. His recovery is so easily gimpable it basically deserves a buff. I feel bad.

Because tournament results aren't the end all right now. Stinkling still has a lot of things going for it with a very strong kit and it's still pretty early in the meta. As I said earlier Bayo didn't win a major till several months after her release.

Since Stinkling is a new character it will take time for people to warm up to it since most top players are sticking to similar characters they played in sm4sh.

Three months in to the game is still very young and the tournament excuse isn't as strong as you think.

It takes effort to get good with a character. It's a good idea to find out which characters are tournament viable so you can sink the time learning into those characters instead of just making life harder for you for no reason by getting good at character that will never take you far in bracket.

Several people do just that, user. It's just more difficult to win with certain characters over others. Just because we had that one dude place pretty high as a Kirby in Melee in EVO 2018 (somewhere in the top 100 IIRC) doesn't mean he was able to get in the grand finals. Therefore, it's sometimes just better that if you do want to get into the competitive scene, to just pick up a character in the top/high bracket that you enjoy playing and learning that character over trying to get over the headache of playing a noticeably awful one. Hell, my bro plays a ton of Kirby in Ultimate even if several of his moves are slow and predictable, but can sometimes pull off some impressive wins.

Because if you play with the same group of people, you will all improve together. As everyone gets better inherent character strengths will start to be a lot more prominent, so if you go even with your buddy at the beginning as Kirby vs Lucina, eventually the Lucina player will start winning more and more matches.

Nobody wants to pick a 'wrong' character and end up losing a bunch because their initial pick was shit all along.

That said, Ultimate has pretty decent balance so that's an extreme example.

Wolf's only flaw is his recovery is poor, he's a very solid character outside of that. I don't think he should have an excellent recovery on top of all his other strengths.
Unless you mean side-B doesn't put you in free-fall if you hit someone with it? Which would give him essentially a kill throw (that isn't a suicide) at 60-80%, which sounds seriously broken as well.

His recovery isn't even that poor, not many characters can edgeguard wolf while he has his jump. It's also a big risk edgeguarding wolf's side b and at high percents up b can kill too. It's just that wolf cant edgeguard outside of high recoveries and run off nair.

Pac-Man is too high up honestly, Corrin shouldn't be so high. Isabelle, Ryu, Mii Brawler, and Shiek should easily be bottom tier.

What Zero and the other pros are saying is valid for Zelda though. She's a good character, but held back because the meta and most commonly played characters are rushdown and she's incredibly weak to someone getting in and keeping pressure. It's pretty objective that half her tools are centered around mid to long range and her short range tools outside Nayru's Love just don't have as much reach as something like Lucina's Sword.
