DMC5

Would it have been better if it was directed by Hideki Kamiya?

if you like qtes

Yes. But I like everything about Bayonetta better at this point so I hope he is working on that instead, or something new. I'm open to anything.

fuck that gook

Let's see
>V missions replaced with motorcycle sections or some shit
I don't like V much, but no
>Final Urizen being a platforming QTE boss fight
No
>Nero vs Vergil with a bunch of Buster QTE
No
>Story
Maybe
So overall, no

>10 minute motorcycle section before Vergil fight

Don’t forget afterburner-esque segment in a boss fight.

Judging by DMC1 no

yeah uh........no

No, Kamiya is good at creating I.P's but he has a bad habit of forcing in shit no one likes but him.

>Space Harrier level in Nico's van as it falls to earth from the top of the demon tree
hmmmmmm

platimeme games are shit

It might be abit better in level design and variety. Kamiya cares more about making sure everything is tight in combat so it might've been better. Music would've been better since Platinum are good at it. Kamiya seems obsessed with cutting out unnecessary stuff in combat that might've been fun though.

kamiya loves unnecessary shit.

Absolutely not. DMC 3, 4 and 5 are great games, and the combat in 1 is like clunky as all hell

It's almost 20 years old

Here's a better question
How much credit does Kamiya really deserve for RE2? Mikami had to step in and cancel his version, and they brought a new scenario writer in to completely revamp the game's story which called for entire new assets and re-purposing of characters. How much more hands on did Mikami had to get in order to turn RE2 around?

>final boss is a rail shooter
eh

I think Itsuno is great with combat - we've seen this in the past with DMC3 and Dragon's Dogma - but his writing is atrocious and cringy. I'd love to see a team up where Kamiya directs and oversees pacing, and Itsuno creates the combat system

>Kamiya directs and oversees pacing
>Kamiya
>pacing
Are you fucking serious?

>Kamiya
>story
>pacing
Did you not play Bayonetta 1?

DMC1 and, unironically, DmC have the best pacing in the series. They're not like Contra where enemies are constantly pouring out at you. I'm impressed by 5's pacing so far, to be fair.

Almost all of Kamiya's games have fucking pacing issues.

>DMC1 and, unironically, DmC have the best pacing in the series.
>DMC3
>Not having arguably the best pacing in the series
3 is the highlight when strictly speaking in a scenario and pacing sense. The story is great in that game and it doesn't get enough credit for it. It's simple but very effective.

Not sure you understand what I mean by pacing

Bayoneta 3 only for the Switch with those shit graphics, but I guess it will be a good game.

No.

>and the combat in 1 is like clunky as all hell
Was 3 your first game? Because if it was you should give yourself more time to adjust to 1. It's really not clunky unless you need it to play just like 3. A lot of people think 1 feels better to play anyway because enemy design is better and the attacks feel more forceful.

Why would that thought ever cross your mind? Bayonetta was his attempt to make a spiritual sequel and it's nowhere nearly as good as DMC at its best.

>The story is great in that game and it doesn't get enough credit for it. It's simple but very effective.
People are always praising 3's story though. I think that statement applies more to 1 that tells less of the story through cutscenes and more through level/enemy design and what you're actually doing with Dante.

But 1 is better than 5 you silly zoomer

Platinum's games aren't even in the same tier as good DMC games.

They haven't even topped DMC4, how can they top 3 or 5?

Nier shits on DMC dude

Itsuno doesn't write m8

story and music? sure
gameplay? hell no

Probably be the same but with more Afterburner/Ikaruga style missions.

>cooler Dante
>game focusing on Dante
>no cringe music
>no boring environments
>no Nero
>no Nero wanking by shitting on older and cooler characters
>no V cringe
>no V/Urizen bs
>Vergil would be dead and still cool because of it
>even if he wasn't dead, Kamiya wouldn't shit on him like Itsuno did just to make shitty OC Nero look cool
>Mundus wouldn't be a forgotten joke
>plot would've been better as such

>>Would it have been better if it was directed by Hideki Kamiya?
What do you think, matey?

I'm not into static image "cutscenes" so no.

Zero.
RE2 Is a Mikami game.

lmao

>Make Devil May Cry
>Your inferiors come along later and turn it into something good
>Make Bayonetta
>Your inferiors come along and turn it into something good

Imagine how good a Wonderful 101 or Okami sequel would be if Hackamiya had nothing to do with it.

>Bayo 2
>Better than Bayo 1
It made some QoL improvements, but the gameplay was a fucking downgrade.

it wasn't directed by mikami.

>artemis fight
>forced punchline riding through rings section
>dante / vergil fight
>unskippable cavaliere riding minigame before the fight
>nero / vergil fight
>unskippable driving minigame in nico's van before the fight
>the buster counter on his flying attack is a QTE instead of something you naturally try

>Want to replay Kamiya's DMCV
>Remember these sections

Don't know. What I would like is to see a remake of DMC1 by Kamiya.

>>Vergil would be dead and still cool because of it
of all the parts of your (You) bait I'm just gonna pick this one and say that it doesn't make much sense since the reason Vergil is cool and popular with the fanbase in the first place is because of Itsuno and not Kamiya. Itsuno is the one that made Vergil who he is, while in DMC1 there isn't even a character to begin with, just a dude in armor who happens to be your brother and that's about it.

he's a cuck

DMC5? Is that the name of the new gay porno he's starring in?

Honestly no. He would shove in a bunch of gimmicks. What I love about DMC5 (and 3, and most of 4) is how pure of an action game it is. Even V fits within the confines of the game's core mechanics despite being fairly unconventional. There's no QTEs, no vehicle sections, no other pointless fluff. It does one thing well, combat, and that is basically the entire game besides skippable cutscenes and some fairly linear exploration.

Kamiya should stick to new IPs. W101 was great because it was its own unique thing.

Everyone bitches about those levels, but the only thing meaningfully wrong with them is that both go on for too long.

You should actually play Kamiya's other games, not just DMC1. Your idea of him as a director is fundamentally incorrect.

3 only really does boss fights well. Regular enemies are a boring slog.

Bayonetta's story is bad.
At most there's a couple likeable characters and fun action scenes, but the cutscenes are super exposition heavy and the plot is a mess. DMC5's story is far from perfect but the pacing is far less excruciating than Bayonetta's (2's is better but not by much).

Vergil is the Wesker of the series and only liked by retards

No. I like Platinum games but the gameplay feels shallow in comparison to DMC titles.

How about the fact that I don't want to fucking play Space Harrier or other arcade games Kamiya was obsessed with as a kid again while I'm playing an action game

I too like my games super repetitive and with zero variety.

This is why I never replayed bayonetta.

If your game is fun you don't need bullshit minigames to break it up. That's actually the most frustrating thing, Kamiya's games ARE fun enough to just sit there and enjoy the main gameplay / combat nonstop but you can't because of his obsession with paying tribute to games he's nostalgic about.

DMC3 has the best story yes, but he’s talking gameplay pacing. The level design in Kamiya games typically pace out enemy encounters and guide you through the levels much more naturally. More visual variety too.

Bayonetta I feel is a much better action game than DMC4. 4’s got some cool stuff but the shun design is hot ass (not visually, but mechanically). DMC4 is like you’re alwys in training mode save for the bosses. Kamiya has always been better at enemy design. He. An out one enemy on the field and still make it engaging.

if you want variety in your games play mikami games.

>If your game is fun you don't need bullshit minigames to break it up
Seconding this. Just because DMC5 is "just combat" doesn't mean its repetitive. You're constantly getting upgrades that are significant enough to base an entire gameplay style around, enemies keep coming in different formations, you got 3 god damn characters to play as. The guy you're repling to has to be arguing in bad faith because the notion that "oh combat is one word, so that means its 1 activity" is fucking retarded. Wonderful 101 is my favorite Plat game and its fucking amazing. Except when I'm doing a poorly executed mini game. What the fuck is the point of these sections? I'd rather engage with well polished mechanics that are thematically similar then just rapidly play a bunch of shallow different games that don't relate to eachother. Or what, is Warioware the most perfect game of all time because it has the most variety?

There is something to be said for how well Warrior does the concept of sending so many new game types you’ve never played and asking you to beat them first try, but that’s not related to what you’re saying.
What you’re saying is fair but the fact Kaniya’s Games have arguably better combat is always polluted with episode complaining about those sections. Whether you like them or not we’re comparing combat and combat.

Don’t think Itsuno is pure of this either. People keep saying his DMC is pure, but it isn’t. When you aren’t fighting you’re platforming and exploring levels. The games aren’t single rooms with wave after wave of enemies. There’s collectibles and secret missions. The difference is they use mechanics that are used for the base game for combat. That’s something to be praised how it dosent shift styles, but to say I’d hate itsuno’s games If they had mechanics only available in the platforming sections so they’d be a little less boring becuase the combat doesn’t use them isn’t fair.

Combat can be a platforming challenge if you want it to be

So Itsuno's solution to variety is stick with the game's establish mechanics and mix up the gameplay with new objectives. Kamiya's solution is to completely switch genres for entire sections that last too long.

I'm going with Itsuno on this one.

Only with jump canceling which the levels never intentionally test you on. It’s usualyl just walking forward and jumping up some hill.

Kamiya’s is more extreme yes, and they often aren’t developed enough to be fun. What I’m trying to say is though is that DMC’s platforming and walking around exploring is a style in gameplay shifting. One that has barely improved since 3 (not counting DmC which I hear actually has way better platforming). Panther and bird aren’t just great combat options in Bayonetta, they make moving around feel fantastic. Same with growth abilities in KH2 for example. Itsuno gives you a double jump, a faster run, and trickers air dash. We don’t even have running on walls anymore so there’s actually less arguably. The levels aren’t too complicated so you never need these abilities, but they make that thing that you’re doing when you’re not fighting not feel boring.

yes, it would have had instakill QTEs and space harrier.
