What are some good shooters, classic and modern? I've played a lot of the standards and I want something new and interesting.

anything but half life

>I want something new and interesting
Pick one.

doom

>Pick one.
New to me, obviously. There aren't really any good recent fps games

Valley's not a typical shooter per se, so it might hit new and interesting for you. It's more puzzles and movement than combat, but the combat is workable and the game is super pretty and super fun.

no one lives forever 1 and 2, excellent goldeneye 007 type gameplay
unreal gold, strongly underrated compared to quake

Thought powerslave EX got taken down ages ago.

Knee Deep in the Dead remains arguably the greatest level design in a shooter ever made.

project warlock. go play it. youre welcome

>most official doom levels aren't actually very good
Can't agree with that at all really, at least for the first game. Good pacing, good ammo/weapon placement, plenty of well placed secrets, abstract visual design that you don't get from other games. Don't really get what you could hate about them.

A full third of the maps are outstanding, another full third are good, then the final third are a mesh of shit (very few) to mediocre. Fuck off, zoomer. Go play Half Life.

Probably can't handle hit scanners or lack of scripted events.

Since everyone covered old games...

Modern:
> Titanfall 2: best SP campaign of a decade. It's cheap to pick up and MP Is dead but SP is worth these 5$.
> Wolfenstein NO & Doom: both are servicable and decent games that can bring you some joy.
> Metro Redux: if you long for some immersive FPSes.

Retro
> Dusk: mix of Q1 and Blood. It's nice but scary.
> Ion Maiden: modern game on Build engine. I had some fun with it.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Ghost Recon Wildlands is a downgrade when compared to this game. There's a lot of little great details in Future Soldier, and I wished they were expanded upon, with more realistic details and authenticity instead of the inferior piece of shit downgrade that is its sequel, Wildlands. For example, in Future Soldier, bullets will skip and ricochet off of hard surfaces. It's little things like that which makes a huge difference.

SiN Gold

You probably never heard of this one

been ages since i played it, that sucks
yeah saturn, not dreamcast
pc version of powerslave is okay, not as good as console

>pc version of powerslave is okay, not as good as console
what's wrong with it?

I found Dusk to be too easy and Ion Maiden to be too boring.

Rainbow Six 3 Ravenshield
SWAT 4
Red Faction 1
Timesplitters 2, 3

>No Riddick:EFBB and AODA
Pathetic

You can still get it from here forums.duke4.net/topic/8090-powerslave-ex-public-beta-released-lol-nope/

MS was giving this one out free the other day with the Xbox Live subscription,

I think its pretty cheap on steam.

I have it already and played it when I was a kid. I don't remember it well, is it actually good?

No he was telling you to play a bad game for shits and giggles you fucking retard.
Yes, it's good. All the anons above you gave you like 20 games. Go play them.

Yeah, its a lot of fun and it holds up pretty well.

There aren't a lot of weapon types but it has great atmosphere and it plays well. If you like Star Wars its a must and even if you don't its still fun.

i was definitely not trying to get more info out of him you aspie
thanks, will try it out

wait i just realized my comment was insensitive to both you and persons actually afflicted with asperger's syndrome. i apologize

Its a good combo of shooting with some basic squad tactics thrown in. You can order your 4 man squad to snipe, or take cover or man a turret and what not and even though its limited you can still set up ambushes and what not.

have played most of these. some of them look a llittle jank and don't have great reviews, but ill try them anyway.

Blood got a sourceport recently, and it's good.

Clive Barker's Undying!

A really underrated hidden gem.

Only somewhat related, but I started this book recently and am really liking it. Would recommend for anyone interested in retro shooters or video games in general.

Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi
redneck rampage
Sin
NOLF
I mean you can't go wrong most most anything made on idtech or unreal before consoles started shitting everything up

> Wolfenstein TNO & Doom
Fuck no, stay as far away from this trash as you can

if you're willing to deal with console fps controls,
medal of honor underground and timesplitters 2/future perfect are some of the best console fps ive played

It's not hidden nor underrated, people liked it

Splatoon is the best modern shooter
