Can someone give me some tips on how to S-rank Mission 4? I can get through most of the regular encounters with S+ with V, but the boss just messes me up
I don't really know how to keep the offensive on him with V, I either shoot or do the charged thunder lines attack with Griffon but Shadow has a very hard time reaching the targets so 70% of the fight he just attacks air and I don't know how to direct him that well. I spend most time on C or D rank until the end where I got a combo that sent me into S, but that wasn't enough to get anything better than a A-rank so far

You need to complete the entire taunt animation to get style/devil trigger for doing it. Locking on and pressing taunt usually does a shorter taunt animation incase you are at like ss rank and wont be able to fully do those long ass taunts without an enemy interrupting

>actually use the L3 change lock-on regularly
>lock on attacks are based on YOUR position, not the familiars
>stop thinking so much about where the pets are, you can reposition them at literally any time with double jump, griffon's back+square, side/back dodges, focus solely on V's positioning first off
>put Griffon and Shadow on the shoulder buttons unless you plan on clawing constantly
>you can do like 3 of those falling spin-attacks as shadow before you actually hit the ground if you time them right
>you can activate auto-attack for griffon and shadow at the same time
>use auto-attack for one pet, then do actual focused combos with the other
>charge attacks dont carry over when you dodge with that familiar
(if you charge a shadow attack then dodge horizontally, it will NOT save the charge and you will have to repress the button)
>With this information, alternate dodges when you are charging the opposite familiar (If you are charging shadow, dodge back or jump. If you are charging Griffon, dodge left or right)
>you can quickly jump off Nightmares double forward charge attack

Most of V shadows moves lack power and can only be focused on a single target where as dante and Nero have sweeping attacks out the ass that hit any enemy close to you.
V also cant close distance with enemies so keeping you S rank is hard unless enemies are grouped togethor for Multiple stab finshers.
Problem the most with V is that you have to re position him so much that it keeps you from continuous fighting and style building and you just end up having to start fresh which drags out fights and gives enmies chances to recover from stuned state

Anyway, you're crowdcontrol is from the charged Griffon attacks and Hedgehog from Shadow. They just nuke the entire fucking screen at max charge.
For movement, you can always use check to teleport to any enemy that is recovering or stunned and then enemy step to cancel off them. You fucked up when you have to double jump or roll since that interupts your charged attacks, let go of lockon and do small hops and teleports instead.
