Reminder that they should've thrown both Trish and Lady into the trash bin considering they don't do anything in DMC4 or 5's plot and replaced them with Kyrie, considering she's the now main protagonist Nero's love interest and his character development in mission 20 relies on him still supposedly carrying emotional baggage from DMC4. Even though Urizen was stopped, Vergil was still continuing the plan, even if only because he knew Dante would come. At that point Dante cut his losses, was done crying over Vergil and figured it needed to be done. I didn't bother with ranged shit, the crystal has so much health (on SoS at least) I just focused on bursting it. The air combo that lifts you higher was the only attack I really used, Exceeded as much as possible. Basically he's doing one of two things: summoning lasers from above + sometimes explosions from below - staying airborne and dodging to the side with Gerbera keeps you safe from most of this - or the real danger, the floor sweeping lasers + time stop + fucking fireballs. I used the startup of this as attack time, Gerbera'd away from the time orb and jumped the lasers/fireballs. Don't bother trying to deflect fireballs he just knocks them back.
When I broke the shield I bustered, did a combo, bustered again then more combos. I managed about 70% health one time so as long as you get 50% it should only take two cycles. Buster him to finish him off when his health is gone.
Just pause and hit retry from checkpoint if you feel you're not gonna make it, saves you all those load screens.

Don't know if the most effective, But I use Royalguard, he's kinda easy to parry, practice some in the Void, learn his animations and stuff, but if you're dealing with Fury + other enemies like Scissors, just fucking blow SDT. And with Nero I used Ragtime and seems to be pretty effective.

Only time will tell. Wouldn't be surprised if Itsuno acknowledges that people wants this, it happened before.

They didn't need to worry, there was no backlash and people seemed overall pretty open to V and liked him before the game even released.

Execution is way more than half the battle when it comes to stories.

I Cant decide between nero and V
The really fixed nero up compared to how he was in four,but i keep wanting to be godlike with V.

I think thats the best way to go about the game so that way after getting use to the game on Devil Hunter you can experiment with all the attacks on human mode and finish buying the rest of the characters move list for the harder SOS and DMD modes.

For later difficulties its best to experiment with attacks and weapons so you can see whats the best way to dominate enemies and bosses in tougher modes and learn how to dodge and counter moves accordingly instead of the blind whaling of a first play through

To be fair Dante had a whole game of being utterly exhausted, and Vergil was getting the shit beat out of him until he turned it around. Both characters were pretty fucking winded. Nero's Devil Trigger also happens to be pretty overpowered, Sin modes for Vergil and Dante aside.

Pro tip for people trying to speed into the later difficulties by beating Urizen in the prologue, go to the extreme right or left corner near him and attack there. When he turns the game into a bullet hell with slow fields and fireballs every two seconds, his fireballs can't hit you if you're right in the corner.

You could also bring a Gerbera and reflect everything if you're feeling saucy.

DMC3's story is genuinely great with a mix of both silly / serious parts and one driving theme, it's 4 with its generic "save the plank waifu" plot and unfinished second half, and especially 5 that go straight into overabundant fanservice territory with almost nothing of substance. Not to mention 3 is a great game in its own right so you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not playing it.

What triggers DT for enemies in DMD. I don't think its when you kill other enemies, kind of feels like its just a timer. Especially for bosses.

True, but stamina has never really been an issue for Dante. Plus he was asleep for a month, he shouldn't be that exhausted. And even in the end, when both Vergil and Dante are clearly exhausted from fighting nonstop with each other, they still keep fighting, and then fight an army of demons. The only reason Dante seemed to wanna sit the final fight out is cause Nero nearly knocked his jaw off (I think that being the first time Dante ever actively complained about an injury), and even after getting his ass kicked, Vergil caught his breath in seconds.

Most of V shadows moves lack power and can only be focused on a single target where as dante and Nero have sweeping attacks out the ass that hit any enemy close to you.

V also cant close distance with enemies so keeping you S rank is hard unless enemies are grouped togethor for Multiple stab finshers.

Problem the most with V is that you have to re position him so much that it keeps you from continuous fighting and style building and you just end up having to start fresh which drags out fights and gives enmies chances to recover from stuned state

I hope his personality shines through a little more with Vergil.

Honestly, the plot was so nothing. I really wish V had turned out to be Mundus, and Urizen was just an evolved Nelo Angelo who had broken out of Mundus' chains thanks to Dante, but all that was left in his mind was "power. Dante. Power." The final two missions could totally still exist, and V could have still been made to be saved as his own character just created by Mundus to save him.

But some rooms in the Temen-ni-Gru actually carry Kaneko's handwriting as well. Many rooms have such a hard-on for demonic geometric interieur design they too seem to come straight from SMT.

The plot is Vergil character development and him finally admitting what he's done is wrong.

It is pretty DeviantArt tier. I can see what they were going for with the Angello style horns, but the hair would be better either shorter or longer, and the face design just is awful. Here's hoping it looks better in DMC 6

The ending of 5 is shit, its just deus ex machina. Everything just gets resolved for no reason and everyone ends up happy. Dante and Vergil rivalry just turns into autism, it is not about the clash of idealism anymore, its just "wahh I want to beat you."

Good fan service game but it doesn't move the story of the series forward. Maybe the next game will actually be something

I think S is max. I went through a V level with constant SS and SSS rank, and finished with no continues and no hit and still got S.

That still could have happened. Say V betrays them when he sees Dante and Nero trying to save Vergil, who they do. Vergil, just like with Arkham, joins Dante briefly, the gang defeats Vundus(thanks to Nero), and we go right back to the end of his storyline in 5 where he kicks Nero aside, goes for Dante, mission 19, then Nero pulls his devil trigger and mission 20 happens. I just wish there was more going on in this plot, it really fails to pick up until mission 17.

They have different properties. The wire snatch can be upgraded via Rawhide. The Devil Bringer can hold, and be upgraded via Devil Trigger (Double Snatch and Double Hold).

Nero really just wanted to make Nero as complex as possible, more complex than Dante, and boy did he succeed.

if you just started with Dante you still have a bunch of stuff to unlock for weapons and moveset
unlock sword master 3/4 asap and every other style at 2 should be enough for DH difficulty, maybe trickster 3 for teleport, but trick 4 has more potential
his sword moveset is an overall improvement from 4 once you unlock it completely
Balrog is great but a little awkward due to having kick and punch modes, get used to what does what. Quick jabs are a pretty good parry wall when in doubt
i won't spoil you on the rest in case you haven't seen them, but there's a fun returning weapon

i found myself doing a bunch of switching between TR to close up distance and SM more air combos
enemy step is a must if you wanna have fun with the more cruaaayyhhzzee combos
shotgun and enemy step on enemies against a wall or the ghost/bat fuckers is pure kino
RG gives a tonshit of style if you are good at it

Even if they kept the Vergil's human half plot element I think they could've easily handwaved in some reason where V actually becomes his own person rather than just Vergil's shadow. It might not even be too late now considering Nero keeps V's book as a memento, if they're ever expanding the game with DLC campaigns.

I find it a waste of completely new characters (V + his demon buddies) who also happen to have a moveset that really stands out from previous player characters in gameplay department.

We have some hints for that.
For example, DMC3 Dante is the youngest and his demon form kind of has a "wrapped up" look to it. Like it's not fully developed yet.

Also his form changes depending on the devil weapon he is using, at least in DMC3.

You could argue that age or mastery over your devil powers determine the looks to some degree, as well as the source from which you draw the power.

But this is really just idea-spinning. I think demon magic and logic in DMC was never truly explained, and I think it's better to leave it that way.

Are the DLC battle tracks Dynamic? I want to use them, but I don't know if I can go back to Static tracks, after the joy of hearing "HELLFIRE BLOODSTAIN SHADOW" kick in as I hit S.

Any game which doesn't allow for attack canceling is objectively bad. Bayonetta has long surpassed DMC in that you can dodge cancel an attack and still continue your combo afterwards. DMC is you just get hit and then restart your whole attack string. Would be nothing wrong with beginners playing the game that way but there is a lot less to master for those who want to.

I mean if we're talking about what should have happened then Nero should have gotten his DT and learned about Vergil halfway through the game and instead of Urizen eating the fruit some other demon gets it (Mundus preferably, since this is meant to be Dante and Vergil's last big hurrah). Have Nero, Dante, and V stop Mundus (following Urizen who went after him all blind-rage) then after Mundus is dealt with V reunites with the beaten Urizen and the Vergil showdowns occur.

3 and 4 had clearly defined beginnings, middles, and ends where shit got more real each time, there's no sense of escalation in 5 at all; it starts with needing more power to fight Urizen, progresses to needing more power to fight Urizen, and ends with needing more power to fight Vergil.

I'm gonna bet that we're gonna get V 2.0 with different summons at some point in the series. Either in a sequel or in a 'V revival DLC'.

Its more like, as Urizen he was just a big, dumb, angry power monger, and didn't give a shit about Dante's little quirks. But as Vergil, he has his human emotions, which include annoyance and irritation at his brothers stupid quirks.

The gameplay is bad and slow. I cannot say anything more. You get into it after a while but it doesn't make it good

On the off chance that you're not baiting, that's because Bayonetta's combat is focused on varied combo strings ending in different wicked weave finishers that a lot of your power is centered in so you have to be able to continue your combo after dodging
DMC has more focus on individual attacks that you string together in a free form fashion so there's no need for a dodge offset system or anything like that

So what's the verdict on photorealistic models?
