It's a great game, but it certainly doesnt hold up to the praise it had when it came out. The level design is simply not as good as its predecessor.

valve themselves said literally zero effect. As they kept adding ideas, they were incompatible with already established ideas, so they just rolled with the new ideas, because the team, and the playtesters liked them. That's why you go to Ravenholm after going to BME instead of going through Ravenholm to reach the wastelands which reached the air exchange and all of it's cool ass puzzles.

I'm seriously mad that Valve cucked themselves out of making a proper GOTYAY. Air Exchange was some Titanfall 2 kind of shit. If you ever played it, remember the section where you had to use the arc gun thing to power the turbines and went really quickly with them? That's what you did in the Airex chapters.
