Itsuno wants to take a break before making 6 and Capcom aren't going to let DMC sit idle while it's white hot so I can see them pushing out remakes until Itsuno's return. Personally I'd prefer side games like Vergil's time in Fortuna (DMC4:SE wasn't good enough) the DMC5 prequel novel, a game about Tony Redgrave, and a game of the anime but doing it right.

I think what they should have done is have the trees start warping the reality inside of them to match the demon near it or something so with King Cerberus there would be a lot of ice style locations or something, with the chicken it would be a lot more dark souls (as much as I hate saying that) and so on.

hold R1/RB, forward + triangle/Y will send shadow dash attacking the nearest enemy which gets him in position right away. press square/X at the same time to send in the bird as well. Most of birds attacks are able to charge up and some can take a long time to charge to the highest level, meaning you can queue up those charge moves and focus on style comboing with shadow while it's charging up. Remember that the directional inputs are relative to V himself not shadow or bird.

The new style calculation is TERRIBLE. It only cares about the average time spent in a style rank. It penalizes you for killing things.
For optimal style, you should get to S+ rank, and then do as little damage as possible while running away and keeping the rank up. This is really fucking stupid, but it's allowed me to S-Rank anything as Dante. This is almost a necessary tactic to S-Rank some missions.
ONCE AGAIN DMC3 had a better system. You got checked for time, so killing things fast was encouraged.

Ok, so Vergil's motivation and character development in this game...
The game starts out with Vergil on the brink of death, deciding that the only way he can beat Dante is by killing is human side so that he can become 100% demon; he believes that his human side is the reason for his defeat in the past. He believes that Urizen is the "true" Vergil. What he didn't plan on was V, even though he didn't want to admit it there was a part of himself that wasn't just a power hungry asshole that also really liked poetry and shit.
Urizen succeeds in acquiring the demonic fruit and essentially becomes the perfect demon, yet he still loses to Dante. When V merges with Urizen and Vergil is reborn, motivation man has essentially gone through some massive character development (even though he doesn't want to admit it.) He realizes that his pursuit of ultimate power led nowhere and that his human side is important to him, it's a part of who he is. (Thank you Nero)
This is why he seems so weirdly lighthearted and nice at the end of the game, the fight between Dante and Vergil at the end seems to be more of a principle thing because fighting is what they've always done. Nero succeeds in getting Vergil and Dante to stop fighting because Vergil has grown as a person thanks to his time as V.

Yes, and it's fucking retarded. Probably someone has already figured it out but it seems to me that each style has a "style point" value, with A being ~4000, and the time you spend in each style is averaged out to your style points for that fight.
It's completely ridiculous and a stupid system. V has no problems with it, but Dante doesn't have any superfast ways of gaining styles, so I'm finding he has to game the system if you want S ranks everywhere.

I imagine this was done to make 100%-ing the game more accessible. There are guides on how to play with leaked .exe and a lot of people did that. Don't know how capcom will react on this, but since denuvo hits performance this bad, they'll probably remove it with next update anyway. Just wait out a little until buying.

Just finished the game, loved the gameplay but the level design is very uninspired and unmemorable, after reaching the roots it all feels the same, also the story was kinda lackluster i was hoping for a Dante and Vergil versus Mundus in the underworld for a final battle, 2 last battles were pretty great but lack the punch from 3. Overall this was the second best game in the series for me only behind 3, reach my expectations but did not exceed them sadly.

It's nearly impossible unless you no-damage, as discussed by others here. The style ranking system is really poor. My best advice to you is what others are doing: get to a high rank, then stall and do as little damage as possible.

So, V isn't so bad after the initial playthrough. I fucking hated him but now with full moveset I think he's ok. I put summons on both triggers, now it's much more convenient to charge them. I still not really fond of his idea, he seems too casual because his main damage comes from Nightmare abuse but at least I'm finally having some fun with him instead of hating him.

Yes. I think this is one part where the narrative doesn't explain things well, most people missed this. The whole "I have a duty to see this through". This could have been fixed by one line of Vergil saying that V changed him, but Vergil is way too prideful to admit that.

The thing is that RE2make is barely a remake, it's essentially a brand new game but just carries over the iconography like the police station and Mr. X. As a game it's radically different in most ways, it retains a similar type of map design but makes significant changes. And I do think if they had gone all the way, made everything completely new, and just called it "Resident Evil 8", it would have been a better game. As it is now it's still a very good game but there will always be those inevitable comparisons to the original.
In DMC2's case, the iconography is mostly shit. Almost nothing about the game's characters, themes, designs, etc are memorable. Lucia is okay but could just be brought back in a new game, she met up with Dante in the novel.

The only thing DMC5 cares about is the average time spent in each style rank. So the optimal way to get style points is to get to high ranks, then do as little damage as possible while maintaining your rank. You are penalized for killing things. This is the opposite for DMC3, which measured your mission completion time and you had to kill things fast to get S.

The game spent too much time in the Qlipoth, which looked samey between chapters. I was hoping for a mansion like DMC1 and 4, or the tower in DMC3, or any sort of indoor location that lasts more than a split second. They're pushing the series to be more pure action and less puzzle-solving, RE-esque like the original was. That's why they're moving away from the confined spaces and fixed camera angles of the original. I'm fine with that, but give me more varied environments than this. That's my only major gripe.

What really? I thought that's kind of what it did, I mean I liked how in the demon tree area there was some variety. Like in mission 8 and stuff there were parts of it that were more red, I thought it was cool how in the beginning parts of that level you could see destroyed buildings and parts of the street inside of the tree, reminds me of inside Leviathan in DMC3 a little bit. The part with Malphas and just before her with the boss rush looked different too. I dunno I really liked the corrupted looked parts of DMC5 where you can really see the influence of the Qliphoth, but that's just me i guess.
Also kind of off-topic, does anyone know if that acoustic guitar theme that plays around V a bit in a few scenes (I think it plays after the Goliath fight and when he's talking to Trish when she's naked) has been uploaded anywhere yet?

DmC had some really cool levels and platforming that fucking worked for once, it also had the devil breaker prototype that is in 5 in the form of angel pull and demon push, you also could do all moves without being forced to lock on and it was the first DMC game to be playable with a mouse
people LOVE to hate it like resident evil 6 but the only cringe part was the characters and story, the rest was more than passable

Here's a little known fact about DmC: launchers have an extra input, which is melee+gun (like GS is one gun+jump), so you *don't* need to use the shoulders for dodge.
