Oculus Quest

>400$
>Performance compareable to a nintendo switch
>50+ launch titles
>adjustable IPD
>4 cameras for controller tracking, even partly behind you
>no setup or wires

This will outgrow PC VR in half a year and dictate what games are on the market, whether you like it or not

lmao

Keep an eye on GDC then ask. We're all waiting to see what Valve does.

If the rumors aren't true and they don't announce a rift upgrade at GDC, at least wait for F8 which is at the end of the next month.

I have an Oculus and I like it, but the new shit is just around the corner. If $350 is nothing for you go for it, if not I'd wait a bit longer or get a cheaper headset like an Explorer to use intil the new gen comes out.

>adjustable IPD
That's like marketing a vcr on the basis that it has a fucking rewind button.

Apparently they increased the resolution compared to the rift, but the FOV is still the same.

Wait until you find something that's very compelling.

The constant drip feed of vr news for the past year that always ended up being some standalone garbage is killing me. If valve doesn't announce a new pc headset at GDC I'm going to whine quietly to myself and continue waiting.

OP is right even if it will only be capable of mobile tier graphics. The whole HTC Vive / Rift market is maybe around 1 million, while the Oculus Go has 1 million sold units on its own, 5 million gear VR and so on.

Mobile VR is why a VR porn industry exists, the Quest has the potential to create a worthwhile marketplace for developers.

>Mobile VR is why a VR porn industry exists
I'm honestly thinking about getting a Samsung GearVR because they go for $15 something and to see how it is. I neither have $500 to spend on VR, nor a capable enough PC for one.

I won't mind too much if it is simply a matter of dragging everyone else down with lower graphics. I just don't want console like exclusives and other new headsets releasing with only inside out tracking because people can't manage to screw something into their wall.

>This will outgrow PC VR in half a year
As did PSVR, and it had the advantage of being part of a staggeringly successful, well-established gaymen brand. Yet it wasn't exactly a runaway success. VR struggles to get serious traction on any of its numerous platforms today, so the idea of making a brand new VR platform- one hosting nothing beyond stripped-down ports of existing, underwhelming VR titles- is absurd. The Quest will crash and burn.

The Odyssey+ is occasionally on sale for $300. At that price, it's the first headset that's worth the cost, IMO. And that's coming from a shit-for-brains early adopter. This assumes you already have a high-end rig; otherwise, VR will never be worth it.

I can't wait to take this into an open field and literally go FULL sprint in VR. Can you fucking imagine that VR bros? No more limited to a small room, or any room. Nearly limitless freedom to move around. GOD

Vr porn videos are garbage user. Its shit like that one illusion game on steam that is true vr porn

VRchat still has a huge following and you can't make content or possibly even run it on something like that, as long as people are comfortable on their current PC setups this thing will not overtake the whole market, its probably easier to make a PC game and port it to this after and you'll make more sales.

>Beat Saber
Has this been confirmed or is this just based off rumors?

What's the best VR game?

Get in now.
Oculus 2 is ages away. Best off picking it up nkw. Theres a deal on reddit that drops it down to 310. Buy an extra sensor and youre set.

you be the judge

Sheeeit. People are going to get this just so they can have a Beat Saber machine.

Graphics will be worse but who cares, gameplay > graphics always.

Doom

Still gotta check newer developments on Quake. Basically boomercore ports though

Underrated
somehow I havent even thought of doing this until now

The worst part is that it will absolutely sell well.

the guy doing quakeVR will apperently port it to the Quest as it will allow sideloading aswell as OpenGL

>I have played beat saber on the quest. Felt like a finished product. It's definitely going to be a launch title.

anything worth watching/playing with phone VR (no controller)
